The Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Authority today issues its list of medical suspensions for UFC on Versus 3: "Sanchez vs. Kampmann," which took place on Thurs., March 3, 2011, from the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
With several bouts ending early (and violently), a few fighters were flagged with follow-up visits to their doctors. All three of which ended by way of knockout.
Also on a mandatory timeout, is Thiago Tavares, who was representing the UFC lightweight division well, until WEC import Shane Roller blasted him into next week with a straight right that dumped him and put him out cold.
Finally, co-main event participant C.B. Dollaway may not have been happy with the stoppage of his bout against Mark Munoz in the first round, but the physicians have agreed with the referee and benched him for the next 60 days.
Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann are also up for suspension, pending results of a requested follow-up exam by presiding physician Dr. Sparks. With cuts all around and "The Dream's" hamburger face, it's safe to assume a mandatory vacation is coming for both of them.
Here is the complete list of UFC on Versus 3 injuries and their medical instructions (via Sherdog.com):
Todd Brown: Suspended for 60 days
Thiago Tavares: Suspended for 60 days
C.B. Dollaway: Suspended for 60 days
Martin Kampmann: Must have follow-up exam with physician to determine possible suspension before resuming normal activities.
Diego Sanchez: Must have follow-up exam with physician to determine possible suspension before resuming normal activities.
Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.
