Street fighters: John Howard vs Anthony Johnson needs to happen in the UFC before it hits the streets

John Howard and Anthony Johnson got beef.

Not like the meat you're planning on cooking with your Hamburger Helper tonight, but like the beef 2Pac and Biggie Smalls used to have. Or maybe a better comparison is Dave Mustaine's longstanding issues with his former stablemates, Metallica.

Either way, the two welterweight bangers enjoy each other's company about as much as much as Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir. They talk about as much trash to boot.

Johnson, coming off his win over Dan Hardy at UFC Fight Night 24 on March 26, elected not to call anyone out when asked who he would like his next opponent to be. He did, however, make sure to mention his lasting hatred for Howard.

Why? "Because he's a pussy," according to "Rumble."

Let's hear "Doomsday's" side of the story (via MMAWeekly.com) and let him explain how this whole thing started.

"He started the beef about a year ago, what happened was, the UFC offered the fight to me for my second fight in the UFC. And I told them, ‘no, I don’t think it’s a good idea. I’m still new in the UFC and I still want to be making some money out of it, and don’t want to be fighting some of the top 20 guys already.’ He took it like, oh, I was scared, I’m a (expletive), I’m a (expletive) and all this. And then call me a ‘cotton picker.I got really uptight about that."

Apparently, it's not a good idea to call John Howard a "cotton-picker." That's when shit gets real.

Ever since then, both fighters have been trading barbs both publicly and, allegedly, behind closed doors. Will all this culminate in a trip to the Octagon to settle this dispute?

As of now, the answer is likely no, as Howard is coming off a loss to Thiago Alves, whereas Johnson just recorded a victory over the previously mentioned Hardy -- in the co-main event, which got great ratings, no less.

That doesn't mean the Wai Kru trained Howard doesn't want it -- and bad.

"Yeah, I definitely want to shut that dude up, man, It’s one of those fights where I don’t care about winning or losing. I just want to smash this dude. I think it’s better to have it happen in the UFC before it gets to the streets. That’s how bad it is between me and him. I don’t like this kid."

What say you, Maniacs? Put them in the cage now and let them "rumble" until it's settled? Or send them in opposite directions and hope it dies down?
