UFC on Versus 3: "Sanchez vs. Kampmann" from the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, has officially wrapped, which means that it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $40,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 22 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's leaving the "Derby City" with a second sack of simoleons
It may have happened on the undercard but it was no less spectacular, as Shane Roller earned his "Knockout of the Night" bonus for his one-hitter quitter finish of Thiago Tavares. The American put the Brazilian on his ass in the second round to bring home some extra bacon in his Octagon debut.
Also hauling in a wheelbarrow full of cash is Brian Bowles, who pulled off the most insane feat in the history of MMA by submitting Damacio Page in their rematch by way of the same choke in the same round and at the EXACT same time. If that's not a "Submission of the Night" winning performance, nothing is.
Finally, Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann were matched up in the main event to provide fireworks for the folks in Kentucky and that's exactly what they did, as they were awarded "Fight of the Night" after a thrilling back and forth war of attrition that saw "The Dream" defeat "The Hitman" by way of (somewhat) controversial unanimous decision.
Whether you agree with the judges or not, that fight was a win for everyone. In fact, company President Dana White decided to throw the welterweight bangers an extra 20 grand for the show they put on.
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC on Versus 3:
Knockout of the Night -- Shane Roller
Submission of the Night -- Brian Bowles
Fight of the Night -- Diego Sanchez vs. Martin Kampmann
Again, each fighter received $40,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.
