British leather distributor Paul Daley, who initially hinted at possibly backing out of his April 9 title fight against Nick Diaz, has signed the bout contract and will be in San Diego to compete for the Strikeforce welterweight championship, according to MMAFighting.com.

Were he to win the Strikeforce title he would then be subjected to a champions clause, right? Maybe he comes in overweight to make it a non-title fight, then knocks out Diaz and gets the rub from such a victory without being tied down to an organization he may not want to fight for in the future.

i was actually gonna say it is a pretty easy thing for Semtex to accomplish

A bit stupid – i was worried he wouldnt fight but just thought how could you not?!
I’m a fan of his(always have been since well prior to the KOS incident etc) and love to see his fights but i was thinkin maybe that was an excuse as to the timeframe since his last shamozzle trying to make weight for a title fight he actually mentioned “the timeframe” was going to be hard to be ready – dont know if he was referring to cutting weight again?!
I’m not a fighter you may be able to help me here ANS but would it not be better to just try and maintain weight from his fight Feb 26 thru to his next title fight on April 9? Thats 6 weeks….
Would he hope to stack on and train and then cut again?!?! Just dont get it for that timeframe what he meant and what he would be trying to do here

A “conference call” or something between Daley/his camp and Zuffa trying to set this thing up…I know how Daley and Dana feel about each other, but isnt Daley supposed to have the support of one of the Fertitta’s? Something deeper is going on here. DALEY WILL FIGHT FOR THE UFC AGAIN!

All this shit Daley gets about not making weight...
Same old hatred – check the last two UFC cars and see how many didn’t make weight? Go on, then come back and bitch and cry about it all here again. Seriously, every thread on Daley has the same crap – he was 0.4lbs over for his last fight and the sauna had been locked up – that means he would easily have made weight if not. The last two UFC cards had over 10 guys not making weight but nothing said.
Of course no-one will come back and criticize the UFC/American fighters though will they, same old Brit bashing that comes with every Daley, Bisping or Hardy thread.
