One of the most powerful clips of the UFC 128 broadcast: An emotional Jim and Dan Miller hug after Jim returns to the locker room following his win and his brother's defeat. While Goldberg implied the emotions were because of Dan's defeat, the bout occurred on what would have been the second birthday of Dan's daughter, who passed away after birth. I'm amazed at the ability to put those emotions out of their minds for 20 minutes and fight inside the Octagon.

He shouldn't be.

he wont be, he helped save the main card....how many other fighters would have stepped in to fight nate on 19 seconds notice? no one
dan saved a main card fight…they owe him…they cant punish him for help saving the card…if anyone should be cut it should be nate for not being able to finish a guy who took a fight on 19 seconds notice and who was planning on being a cornerman for his brother that night…
i see what you did there

Dan was training for Catone on the undercard.
He didn’t just step up to fight on short noticed. He jut got a short notice change of opponent.

if you repeat it three times it becomes the truth. just once more and it is a fact
pretty impressive showing on 19 seconds notice then. i hear 30 seconds before the fight he was just being served at arbys getting a sandwich for jim to have after the fight, then he got the text 11 seconds later…he had to leave the sandwich

The Miller brothers are great for MMA.
They’re well-spoken and down to earth, and they’ll always step up to fight anyone. The more I learn about them the bigger of a fan I become. I just wish the UFC would put more attention behind these guys because they put a great face on the sport. Nothing but respect for the both of them.

saw them on fighting words
came off really well, apart from dan saying “ya know” every 2 seconds. but i’m a fan now. i think after the ppv they’ll get more attention. jim especially. but we know dana rewards people who step in to fight. and it’s not like dan didn’t throw in a couple of sub attempts and land a few. i say give him leben

Give him a winnable fight like he had against catone. He isn’t top 10, he shouldn’t keep getting pushed against them.
Thank you UFC fans. My name Stun Gun. I want GSP
i think leben is winnable for him
i have the faith. if he can get nate in a choke i’m sure he can do it to leben. and it’s not like he didn’t take a few power shots last night and kept himself together

I definitely think Dan could beat Leben.
It would also be an extremely entertaining fight. Dan is tough as hell and to have never been finished while consistently facing fighters ranked above him is very impressive. Having executed the most devastating guillotine in the history of MMA isn’t too shabby either.

if that's the vid i think it is it's mighty fierce
i thought he handled nate well. ok, he got beat, but he took the big shots, got a couple of subs, threw a few back and didn’t quit. and although he was in training for catone, catone is not nate. so for a last minute toss up with no time strategising for nate, i think he showed his mettle. he’d take leben. i hope that’s the next move for him

Heartbreaking stuff I can only image how hard it must have be on both of them to put that stuff a side.
And to go out there and fight to the bitter end. True warriors right there…

he should not get cut..no way!!
he did amazing and it was on short notice..plus he has some mad skills..
he put up a great fight. Never backed down and really caused some damage of his own
I don’t think him being cut is even in Dana’s mind. The guy is a warrior.

Agreed.
A cut from the UFC is not even on Dana’s radar with a warrior like that. Because if it was, I would personally stop giving my money to the UFC and refuse to buy all future PPVs.
dana doesn't cut people who step up at short notice
else cro cop would have gone after mir

Kenny is fighting at 145. If guidance beats pettis, Jim should get a title shot, IMO.
Thank you UFC fans. My name Stun Gun. I want GSP
should. but everyone loves guida and that's a bankable ppv
kenny is at 145 now? damn i’ve been missing a lot
couldn’t beat penn so have a pop at aldo, that makes sense

That would be exciting
And hes fighting really well right now, but you cant just jump over miller, but if pettis wins he gets the shot

My thoughts exactly. I don’t care if somebody will ever be a contender or not as long as they get me going when they fight. The Millers are tough as nails, humble sounding, and entertaining as hell. Long live their UFC careers imo.

agreed man, i love watching them fight
i loved joe rogans quote about dan miller…“you could call him up at 3 in the morning and tell him hes fighting godzilla in an hour, and hed be there”…always thought dan miller was overrated, and got opponents that he didnt deserve, but i also see why – hes a great guy who does whatever is asked of him and steps up to the plate every single fight
Shogun Rua, P4P best...danago called it
The Millers bring it every fight.
Dan ate a few big shots from Nate that didnt even faze him, good chin and they both seem to be really good guys, both UFC for life material.
i missed this on the broadcast
its so sad, but it just shows both of their mental toughness
Shogun Rua, P4P best...danago called it
One of my favourite side to the sport (if that makes sense)
Obviously I watch for the sport and competition, but the character of fighters often means a lot to me. Much love Dan, I can only imagine the pain and strength required to do something like fight an MMA fight on such a day.
good post,
i think its easy for us to forget that these guys are human. They go home just like we do to deal with real life, sick kids, school, wife, divorce, bills, money etc.
well said grapplefan
