A major welterweight showdown deserves some major pre-fight hype. And with the announcement that the popular three-part Spike TV series, UFC Primetime, will return to document the build-up to Georges St. Pierre vs. Jake Shields, that's exactly what we'll get.
Company President Dana White informed reporters (via USA Today) of the decision following last night's UFC 128 post-fight press conference:
"Yeah, we're going to do a Primetime on those two. So everything you didn't know about Georges St. Pierre from the other seven Primetimes, you'll learn in this one."
White is, of course, referencing the fact that of the four Primetime specials the organization has put together, "Rush" has been featured in two of them. Make it three for five.
Obviously, this decision was likely predicated on added exposure for the challenger to the French-Canadian's welterweight title, Jake Shields, but it certainly helps GSP to raise his ever-growing profile.
The two will square off when the UFC invades Toronto for the first time on April 30. For the current UFC 129 fight card and line-up click here.
