The AK fight blog series is a weekly journal from the MMAmania.com fan community featuring a behind the scenes look at "AK" as he prepares for his third professional fight on March 19, 2011. Click here if you missed week seven.

Hours until fight night: 32
Current weight: 142
Bout weight: 140 lbs.

Here we are. 8:00 A.M. on Friday morning, the morning of the weigh-ins. I'm writing this sitting on my couch with my plastics on, sweat suit over it, under a blanket. I've only gotta drop 2 lbs today, and I don’t have to work too hard to do it.

Here's what my week looked like:

Saturday: 9:00 A.M: Wake up, eat some oatmeal for breakfast, take my supplements.

12:00 P.M: Eat some steamed broccoli and rice for lunch.

1:00 P.M: Head to the gym, do 3 5-minute rounds of shadowboxing and jog for 45 minutes. Do a few plyo exercises, then head home.

2:30 P.M: Drink a protein shake, eat a banana.

5:00 P.M: Eat a chicken, lettuce, and spinach salad for dinner.

6:00 P.M: Watch some old UFC’s on DVD-UFC 76 espically. That was my introduction to "Shogun," seeing as I (to this day, still) have never really watched any Pride fights. I loved that fight, because I will die a Forrest Griffin fan.

8:00 P.M: Eat some plain Greek yogurt as a snack.

10:00 P.M: Go to bed.

This is the start of a week that is gonna take a month to go by. Won’t be doing much workout-wise, just keeping the tools I have sharp. Don’t wanna risk doing anything that might cause an injury, even a small one.

Sunday: 9:00 A.M: Wake up, eat some scrambled egg whites for breakfast, take my supplements.

12:00 P.M: Chicken, lettuce, and spinach salad for lunch.

1:00 P.M: Head to the gym. 30 minutes on the stationary bike, 3 rounds of shadowboxing, then a 15 minute jog.

3:00 P.M: Drink a protein shake, eat some almonds, and read through "The Art of War".

5:00 P.M: Go for a 20 minute run. Weather was beautiful today, so I just ran right outside my apartment.

5:30 P.M: 4 hard-bolied eggs (no yolks) and some whole-wheat toast make my dinner.

7:00 P.M: Relax, read a little, snack on a couple rice cakes.

9:00 P.M: Do some yoga.

10:00 P.M: Bed.

Monday: 7:00 A.M: Wake up, eat a banana and an apple for breakfast, take my supplements, head to work.

10:00 A.M: Eat an orange for a snack.

12:30 P.M: Lettuce, spinach, and chicken salad for lunch.

3:00 P.M: 2 hard boiled egg whites for a snack.

4:30: Head home.

7:00 P.M: Eat a chicken breast and a handful of spinach.

8:00 P.M: Head to practice, do some light focus mitt drills and some light rolling.

10:00 P.M: Head home, shower up, go to bed.

My coach told me something very interesting tonight. "A lot of times, when guys are fighting an opponent like yours, they first think ‘weather the storm, then attack’. I don’t want you to do that. ‘Weathering the storm’ leads to not pulling the trigger, letting them dictate the pace of the fight. Make HIM weather YOUR storm. YOU are the storm. That’s what your mentality should be this whole week. YOU are the storm, bring it to him. Let him know early this is your fight, your night, your house."

I am the storm.

Tuesday: 7:00 A.M: Wake up, eat 4 hard-boiled eggs (no yolks) for breakfast, take my supplements.

10:00 A.M: Eat an apple for a snack

12:30 P.M: Lettuce, chicken, and spinach salad for lunch.

3:00 P.M: Eat an orange for a snack.

4:30 P.M: Head home.

5:30 P.M: Eat a banana, head to the gym.

6:00 P.M: Get to the gym, jump rope for 3 5-minute rounds, run for 30 minutes, ride the stationary bike for 20 minutes.

7:30 P.M: Drink a protein shake.

9:30 P.M: Eat a couple rice cakes as I read up on Sun Tzu.

11:00 P.M: Go to bed. I am the storm.

Wednesday: 7:00 A.M: Wake up, eat an orange and an apple for breakfast, take my supplements. Head to work.

10:00 A.M: A banana is my snack.

12:30 P.M: Some granola and a protein shake is my lunch.

3:00 P.M: Greek yogurt for a snack.

4:30 P.M: Head home. I am the storm.

6:00 P.M: Lettuce, chicken, and spinach salad for dinner.

8:00 P.M: Eat some rice cakes, pace around my apartment visualizing the fight. No real gym work today, just relaxing and conserving my energy, keeping my mind strong. I am the storm.

10:00 P.M: Bed.

Thursday: 7:00 A.M: Wake up, eat 3 hard-boiled eggs for breakfast (again, no yolks), take my supplements, shower up and go to work.

10:00 A.M: Eat a couple rice cakes for a snack.

12:30 P.M: Orange, apple, banana, and a hard-boiled egg for lunch.

3:00 P.M: An apple for a snack.

4:30 P.M: Head home.

5:00 P.M-10:00 P.M: Just relaxing at home. The only thing I’ve had to eat since my 3:00 apple is a handful of granola. I read a little, watch a little T.V, just relax. Mostly I’m thinking about the fight. Everything from warming up in the back, to walking out, to entering the cage, to the fight itself. I play it over and over again in my mind, thinking about all the different places it can go. How I am going to transition from Plan A to Plan B, and Plan C, etc. I am the storm. I will finish this fight. On my terms. I am the storm.

Friday: Wake up at 9 ish. Took the day off from work today. Stepped on the scale at 142 this morning, so just by not drinking or eating all day, I should be at 140 or 141 by 7 P.M. tonight (which is when the weigh-ins are) with no problem. I’m gonna try to get the weigh-ins on video and post it later tonight for you guys.

All I’m doing to day is chilling in my apartment, listening to my ipod, reading a little, watching some TV, constantly thinking about the fight. I’m all packed and ready to go. Just waiting for the clock to tick. I am the storm.

The time has come, Maniacs. In about 31 hours, I’ll be in the cage, doing my best to put on a performance that you will all enjoy watching. I’m not going to do a post-fight write up until after I get a video posted. That way you will all get to watch the fight as close to "live" as possible.  I’ll do a write up after I post the video. Thanks for following me these last 8 weeks, Maniacs. Stay tuned ...

I am the storm.
