A light heavyweight showdown has been added to the mega-card in the making, as Krzysztof Soszynski has been booked to fight Anthony Perosh at UFC 131 on June 11 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The promotion announced the bout on their website earlier today.
That win came after two somewhat shaky performances against Stephan Bonnar, one of which "The Polish Experiment" won by way of cut due to an accidental headbutt. In the rematch, "The American Psycho" took it to the Ultimate Fighter vet, finishing him in the second round.
Winning "Fight of the Night" may have softened the blow but it was his second loss in three fights. He righted the ship a bit with the Reljic win, which sent the Croatian straight to the unemployment line, but is he ready to make a push to contendership in the crowded 205-pound division?
Anthony Perosh has had a total of two fights outside of his native land of Australia. He lost them both. They were contested under the UFC banner back in mid-to-late 2006 and his 0-2 mark made him an obvious choice for the firing squad.
However, whether it be luck or fate, when the organization went "Down Under" in Feb. 2010, Mirko "Cro Cop's" original opponent was forced to pull out and a late replacement was needed. So the promotion gave a call to Perosh, who jumped at the opportunity.
Unfortunately, Filipovic stalked him and blasted away until doctors decided he'd had enough.
Over a year later, when the UFC returned to Australia, they put "The Hippo" on the card against Tom Blackledge in a light heavyweight bout. And he made the most of it, winning by way of rear naked choke in the first round.
His reward is a trip to Canada to take on the always game Soszynski. Will he have better luck in this, his second run with the world's largest fight promotion?
UFC 131 is set to feature Brock Lesnar making his long-awaited return to the Octagon to take on heavy-hitting heavyweight Junior dos Santos at the conclusion of their respective coaching gigs on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season 13.
