Strikeforce is all set to pull the trigger on its latest event, "Diaz vs. Daley," TONIGHT (Sat., April 9, 2011) from the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California.
The Showtime televised event will feature a championship doubleheader as current welterweight title holder Nick Diaz defends his strap against hard-hitting British slugger Paul "Semtex" Daley. Also putting a belt up for grabs is 155-pound champion Gilbert "El Nino" Melendez when he takes on Japanese "Crusher" Tatsuya Kawajiri.
In lightweight action, Lyle "Fancy Pants" Beerbohm tries to rebound from the first loss of his career against "The Tobikan Judan" Shinya Aoki while light heavyweights Keith Jardine and Gegard Mousasi battle to determine the division's number one contender.

Round one: Diaz taunting right off the bat. Leg kick from Daley. Diaz talking. Nice combo from Diaz. Left hook from Daley puts Diaz to the mat. Diaz pops back up and Daley is putting it on the champ. Daley now has the back and throws a right. Leg kick from Diaz. Right from Diaz, good double hook to the body from Diaz. Daley with a clinch but Diaz is landing some hard body shots. Right hook from Diaz. Now Diaz unloading with combo's and Daley looks hurt!!! Daley takes down Diaz now and is in full guard. Daley stands up and Diaz tries to hold onto him. Hard left from Diaz. Good body shot form Diaz and counter left hook from Daley. Diaz landing some hard elbows against the cage. Hard knee from Daley. Diaz now throwing bombs in a flurry and then lands a high kick. Daley lands a left hook that drops Diaz!!!! Daley on top and trying to finish, but Diaz keeping away from damage with his long legs. Good hammer fists from Daley. Nice right left from Diaz now their up. Hard right and uppercut from Diaz. Daley falls to the mat!! Diaz jumps on top and is throwing BOMBS and that is it the fight is over with seconds left on the clock!!! WOW that was one of the best rounds ive ever seen. AMAZING fight.

Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri (155-pound limit)
Round one: Jab from both men. Melendez drops Kawajiri with a hook and Kawajiri is on his heels. Another hard right from Melendez. Melendez catches a leg and lands an uppercut. High kick from Kawajiri. Melendez with a double knee from the clinch and he lands some HARD BOMBS on Kawajiri. Now Kawajiri collapses to the mat and Melendez lands some blows and jumps on the back of Kawajiri. Kawajiri slowly works his way to his feet but Melendez still has the back and is landing some vicious uppercuts. Hard elbow from Melendez and then a overhand right. Right from Kawajiri. Hard right from Melendez and another right, and Kawajiri shoots and Melendez is landing some rights and then pushes over Kawajiri to his back and lands some HUGE elbows!!! Thats is Melendez finishes it with some insane elbows. WOW. AMAZING.

Keith Jardine vs. Gegard Mousasi (205-pound limit)
Round one: Jardine with a good double left. Jardine shoots and gets a take down but cannot keep down Mousasi. Jab and leg kick from Jardine. Body kick from Jardine. Jab from Jardine. Leg kick from Jardine. Nice uppercut from Jardine and leg kick. Mousasi ties it up and has the clinch briefly. Jardine now snags a single leg and is working hard for the take down. Elbows from Mousasi, but Jardine finishes the take down. Mousasi works his way to the feet, but Jardine holds onto the single and gets him back down. Now Mousasi back to the feet and lands a good right. Mousasi now unloading with some vicious strikes!! Jardine looks gassed. Mousasi landing some HARD punches with an uppercut as the big blow. Jardine gets another take down as he is in survival mode. Mousasi lands an up kick and the ref stops it. This is now illegal in Strikeforce due to the unified rules of MMA. Jardine is milking it for all its worth right now. Mousasi is loosing a point now. They start it back up, and Jardine lands a hook. Mousasi lands a hard leg kick and right hand. Hard leg kick from Jardine and that is the bell. Tough one to score Mousasi did all the damage but Jardine got multiple take downs. It was close, 10-8 Jardine.
Round two: Jardine looks like he could be gassed out. Hard leg kick from Jardine. Hard jab from Mousasi. Both men trade leg kicks. Jab from Jardine and counter right from Mousasi. Hard left from Mousasi. Jardine stuffed on a shot and Mousasi lands a hard right also. Nice flurry from Jardine. Leg kick from Mousasi. Hard counter right from Jardine. Another right from Jardine, counter right from Mousasi. Head kick from Mousasi. Jardine bloody on his face. Hard right from Jardine. Leg kick from Mousasi. Inside leg kick from Mousasi. Leg kick from Mousasi. Body kick from Jardine and hard counter left from Mousasi. Mousasi misses a left hook and Jardine now gets a big double leg take down. Mousasi throwing punches off his back. Butterfly guard from Mousasi and he lands some hammer fists and is up to his feet. Right from Mousasi. Jab from Mousasi. Body kick from Mousasi. Mousasi unloads a flurry and lands a kick in the process and Jardine grabs a double and gets another take down. Mousasi to his feet and a hard combo at the bell. This round was all Mousasi and Jardine is looking bloody and gassed. 10-9 Mousasi.
Round three: Jab from Mousasi. Hard knee from the clinch and left hook from Mousasi. The ref stops the action, for a low blow. Jardine milking it again, trying to get his gas back. Leg kick from Jardine. Jardine going for a take down. Mousasi now gets a take down of his own and has a deep choke locked in but Jardine muscles his way out. Now Mousasi with another take down and is landing some hard elbows from side control. Full mount for Mousasi! Jardine slips out the back door and is back to his feet! Jardine looking tough as nails. Mousasi landing combos now and the ref stops the fight again and probably saves Jardine. HARD one two from Mousasi. Another right from Mousasi and a high kick. Jab from Mousasi. Mousasi with a take down and now he is on top and throwing some elbows. Jardine throws up for an arm bar at the last second but the bell rings and Mousasi most likely took this fight with a draw the outside possibility. 10-9 Mousasi.
Final result: Keith Jardine and Gegard Mousasi fight to a Majority Draw

Round one: High kick from Aoki, Knee to the chest from Aoki and Beerbohm ties him up now against the cage. Aoki now with a good trip and gets Beerbohm to the mat. Aoki now jumps the back and has one hook in. Aoki with a rear naked choke locked in DEEP and that is it Beerbohm taps out!!! Shinya Aokie with a impressive win. WOW.

With a ref that looks like a Hell’s Angels reject? I’m all about folks expressing themselves via experimental hairstyles and whatnot, but more mainstream sports i.e. NFL, MLB, NBA, etc. wouldn’t let their refs/umps on TV looking like this dipshit. I worry without similar standards, people tuning into show time would immediately be reminded of the stereo type that MMA is for rednecks and meatheads.
