Not so much.
Griffin used his considerable size advantage to control the fight en route to taking a unanimous decision victory over Franklin (29-28, 29-28, 29-29)
If there was any doubt that Forrest could use his heavy frame to his advantage, he squashed that all throughout the opening frame. Once he took "Ace" to the mat, he was simply too big to get out from underneath.
By the time, the two decided to get into a few exchanges, both had a lot less umph on their punches. That's not to say they were tired, but they definitely weren't fresh.
It didn't affect the outcome however, as Griffin was getting the better of the stand-up.
He used his usual arsenal of kicks to keep his opponent at bay and landed cleanly when Franklin rushed in on him. Mix in a few takedowns and it was clear who the winner of the fight was when the final horn sounded.
After a layoff of over a year, there was doubt regarding Forrest's status as an elite fighter in the crowded light heavyweight division.
There shouldn't be now. But what about Franklin?
