Watch out, Jose Aldo.

Tyson Griffin announced (via his official website) he will undergo surgery to repair issues in his knees but once he returns to the Octagon, he will do so as a featherweight. The Xtreme Couture product says he will be "stronger and better than ever" in his run for the 145-pound belt.

this makes total sense. good to see Tyson didn’t let his ego stand in the way. he just wasn’t that competitive at 155. he is a nice addition to 145 though.

Ah

He was competitive until the Evan fight. Although, I do think he will be a great addition to the 145er.

I've been calling for this for Years...

and now that the 145lb division is in the UFC… “perfect timing for Griffin”…. he’s fought the best at 155lbs in the UFC…. it’s a shame he had to suffer a brutal beat KO from gomi… he’s a young guy at 26yrs of age, I hope he can physically/mentally rebound at 145lbs, that is his weight class

wasn't he huge for a 155?

he’s gonna be a fucking hulk at 145

probably do beter in that division. i think he gave faber his first loss at 145.

On february 5th 2011 at UFC 126 Jon "Bones" Jones will show the world that their was no need for the MMA community to hype this man because this guy is a beast with many skills and i personally will feel Ryan "Darth" Bader's pain after this fight. SB Nation's public enemy #1.

155 i believe

Then faber dropped to 145. If Tyson gets the 145 belt it will be because Jose has moved up to 155. Even though it would be nice for more guys to move down so Aldo wouldn’t have to go up.

many good matchups for aldo at 155. i wonder if edgar or maynard could take aldo down and keep him there?

Tyson is a big/stalky LW

Interesting to see how he fairs at 145. I undoubtedly see a Faber rematch at some point.

Edgar could make 145 easy. Anyone know what Guida comes down from (ANS)? Siver is jacked, but one of the shortest in the division no?

I doubt Faber moves up to rematch Tyson wouldnt make alot of sense

Siver at 145 would be pretty sick, Guida wont be doing it reguardless of what he cuts he has his eyes set on the 155 belt.

you're right

forgot Faber dropped.

As for Guida and Siver, im just trying to figure out which guys cut the least (ie most likely to drop down). Guida is one of my favs, but if he gets derailed anytime soon, he won’t ever hold the gold (however unlikely it is anyway), in which case the drop would be more plausible.

He's not the stockiest 155er, siver, sherk, tibau are all stockier guys

I read an interview with tyson before the dunham fight where he says he walks around at 160-165

was it a week before the fight

About a year ago I saw one where he walks at 180 or more

by Phenomenal Angel on Feb 5, 2011 4:16 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Your right it was the week before the fight

“I don’t ever check my bodyfat, but honestly this is the leanest I’ve ever been.. I think as far as weight goes, I’m walking off the mat around 160”. “I could have made weight a couple of weeks ago if I really wanted to”

So yeah in between fights he might get near 180, but he should have no problem cutting to 145 if he gets that low during training…

Assuming the weight class doesnt drain him to much he will take the 145 belt for sure

I don’t see how anyone at 145 stops his takedowns and his gnp is real good on top of that his striking is good(for ufc standards).

That’s awesome. Hopefully he’s just the first of many LW’s that decides to make the drop.

Still a Beer Monster.
