The official weigh-in event for UFC 126: "Silva vs. Belfort" went down tonight (Friday, Feb. 4, 2011) from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
All but one of the 22 fighters on the card successfully made weight, with Mike Pierce coming in one pound over the limit for his clash against Kenny Robertson. As per usual, he will have one hour to cut the extra pound.
That wasn't the most notable happening, however. The tension nearly boiled over in the staredown for the main event, as Anderson Silva wore a mask before getting in Vitor Belfort's face. After taking it off, the two exchanged heated words and had to be separated.
"The Phenom" says he's ready. "The Spider" says the fans want a show and they're going to get one. If you weren't already, get pumped, Maniacs.
UFC 126 will be headlined by middleweight champion Anderson Silva, defending his world title against fellow Brazilian Vitor Belfort. Up-and-coming light heavyweights Ryan Bader and Jon Jones will also hook 'em up in a battle that could determine the next division contender.
And 205-pound veterans and former champions Rich Franklin and Forrest Griffin will collide in what promises to be an action-packed showdown on the televised pay-per-view (PPV) card.
