Division up-and-comer Daniel Cormier seems to think so (via MMAWeekly.com):
"With the injury and the time off and dare I say level of competition that (Cain is) fighting and the guys in this tournament are fighting, it's not a stretch to say the guy that wins this is the No. 1 heavyweight in the world. These 8 guys, when you look at these 8 guys versus the top 8 guys in the UFC, I'm thinking Strikeforce wins a lot of those fights. The majority actually."
Sure, this debate has been had a million times, but let's have it again shall we? 265-pound prospect Daniel Cormier, although not a participant in the upcoming Strikeforce Heavyweight Tournament, says the eight guys that are would beat the top eight guys in the UFC. Or at least win the majority of the fights, were they to happen. You can find a handy-dandy guide to the ranking of each heavyweight here, the panel of which is partially made up by one of our fair leaders, Mr. Jesse Holland. Fantasy match-ups would include Cain Velasquez vs. Fedor Emelianenko, Brock Lesnar vs. Fabricio Werdum and Junior dos Santos vs. Alistair Overeem. Jaw-dropping potential right there, but unlikely to ever happen. So that means it's up to you to decide how it would play out. So get to it, Maniacs. Which promotion houses the superior big men -- Strikeforce or UFC?
