With all the talk and the backlash over Miguel Torres' remarks over his twitter account and the subsequent release of the former WEC champion by Zuffa, I was really wondering what the prevailing opinions would be held by my fellow maniacs. Does the decision to cut Torres after something such as this seem appropriate, or was it just a case of treating the headache by removing the Mexican Mullet? Said person has a sister/wife/daughter/mother etc that has been raped, then I think that makes you the fucking idiot for not thinking of that scenario because I guarantee if that’s the case then they are allowed to have that opinion, and rightfully so.

Sure Torres isnt as big a UFC name, but only because he is newer to the organization
He, Forrest and Evans are all former champs. As far as MMA relevance, Torres is on the same level as Evans in regards to their place in their weight class. None of them are household names for people who arent regular MMA fans. It seems like Evans and Griffin are given a pass because they are long time UFC guys.
You could make the argument that Torres is less well liked, but they are all on par with each other as far as douchbaggery goes. Dana tops them all in that category and as others have said, he is guilty of saying worse himself.

First Forrest who Dana wasn’t pleased with then Evans really got Dana steaming and when Torres did it Dana lost it……….. Is it right that Torres gets punished and the others don’t? The fact is Torres does not make the uFC much money if any at all now were Evans and Forrest still do so by cutting those guys the UFC is taking money out of their own pockets if they did cut these guys, with Torres they lose a fighter that is close to be cut with another loss or two anyway and lose very little.
The thing is Torres will get picked up by Bellator or someone else anyway and I think have a more successful career.

Torres has the reach (and jab) to stay with him standing.
Dom would take him down at some point. That is where Miguel is most dangerous, but I would pick a Cruz UD as well.

I’m sure dana was fuming about what Forrest and Griffen stated and if they didn’t bring in more money in one fight to the UFC than Torres has his entire UFC career I’m sure they would of been let go too.

It’s a pattern with Miguel. It wasn’t his first rape joke. I’m okay with him being cut.
People have their panties all in a twist over this, but if he wins a couple, keeps his head down, and doesn’t say anything stupid he’ll be back in a couple of fights. That’s DW’s modus operandi.
Fighters are entering the real world now that the UFC is on network TV; they can’t keep acting like it’s the dark ages. Was Miguel’s tweet a big deal? Probably not, but the fact that it was the third incident and Miguel didn’t give Dana anything better to work with than “it’s a joke” forced his hand.
Torres is already doing the smart thing by apologizing and keeping his head down. He’ll be back very quickly, mark my words.
