UFC on FOX 2 poster for 'Evans vs Davis' in Chicago
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is going above and beyond to ensure that its sophomore effort on network television is a bonafide beast, booking three "huge" match ups for the televised main card.
Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis will headline the event at the United Center in Chicago, Ill., on Sat., Jan. 28, 2012, in a 205-pound showdown that will likely determine the next number one 205-pound contender if "Suga" can find a way to win.
Two marquee middleweight match ups -- Chael Sonnen vs. Mark Munoz and Michael Bisping vs. Demian Maia -- are also on tap and both have major implications on the 185-pound title picture.

This is brilliant match making to set up 2012 nicely
Evans vs. Davis: This sets up a number one contender likely after Dan Henderson if Jones gets his vacation wrapped up or loses to Machida. I’m guessing summer/september we see the winner of this get their tilt
Sonnen vs. Munoz: This is likely number one contender shot A. The winner of this would get first dibs at Anderson Silva.
Bisping vs. Maia:: Number one contender shot B (If Bisping wins). I don’t see Maia getting another crack but maybe they have visions for a Brazil show later on or have Maia be a TUF:Brazil coach with a win. If the winner of contender match A is injured you have a sub right away without delaying A.Silva too far into 2012.
Brilliant match making and i like how important each fight is for each guy and it’s on FOX.

I m kind of afraid for Bisping vs Maia. I think it has a good chance of turning into an horrible fight w/ Maia not getting any TD and Bisping winning by dec.

I hope so, i’d like to see Bisping-Anderson as it be a fresh new face. I mean do i think Bisping will beat Anderson? nope but heck i’d sure love to see the forums crash if he did!

You were a cute little girl...
NNR is going to pick both Nogs on Saturday and become irrelevant to the money pool. Watch.
I didn't have a mullet until they went out of style, I was the only white kid with a rat tail.

Still don't see why they don't just give the fans what they really want
I don’t get booking Shad/Davis when Jones is about to fight and if he wins then set the grudge fight up already. I’m not saying hendo doesn’t deserve a shot but I think most fans want to see these guys settle their score and Shad has done nothing but win since losing his title. He’s getting Fitch’ed in the worst way.

I told you man
it is a set up…

Shad needs to kick Davis' ass, then go all WWE on Bones in the post-fight interview.
At least I am better than kevjack at making picks. I am satisfied with that.
wow..
This fight card it’s getting better .. man 2012 will be a good year for mma fans…

There are no Maia nut-huggers, there are only whoever-Bisping-is-fighting-nut-huggers.

I guess Alessio Sakara is never fighting on FOX then...

Does anyone else feel like this was the type of card the UFC should have given us since the WEC merger?
Either a championship fight or a #1 contender fight, with former champions, as the main event.
Another #1 contender fight as the first fight after the main
A #2 contender fight as the #3
A slobberknocker
A ground war
Something for everyone, but continue to market good fighters and keep the title pictures as clear as they can be.
I guess someone at FOC feels the same way…
NNR is going to pick both Nogs on Saturday and become irrelevant to the money pool. Watch.
gotta give a round of applause to zuffa

by biggant on Dec 7, 2011 9:17 AM EST via mobile reply actions
he's only getting 'show' money
he’s not winning against maia. Maia might have forgotten his bjj but the dude is all for banging it up now and he’s getting pretty good at it
by ihatepressingf5 on Dec 7, 2011 10:57 AM EST up reply actions
It’s crazy to see the evolution of maia. He is definitely becoming a very good stand up fighter. Main thing that needs to get better is his cardio. Like the munoz fight he slowed way down after first rnd

I don't see how Rashad wins this fight except for by KO within w rounds. We all know his cardio is gone by the 3rd, and I doubt he can put Davis away quickly. I see Davis by 5th round finish or 3:2 UD.
Bet 10$ against VM's 41$ on Machida to beat Jones.
Davis' cardio isn't exactly the best either
With a physique like that…it requires a lot of oxygen and I’m sure cutting that much weight must be a least a little difficult for him. Davis is going to tire and get really sloppy and that’s when Shad will take advantage and TKO him.
