Cotto vs Margarito 2 results: Pic of Antonio Margarito's eye that forced stoppage in Miguel Cotto fight
Revenge is sweet.
As you can see in the above photo of a heartbroken Antonio Margarito as the referee stops the fight due to his injured eye, that's exactly what Miguel Cotto got at Madison Square Garden last night (Sat., Dec. 3, 2011) in New York.
It took three years to get these two back inside the squared circle to settle their differences but when they did, Cotto made it count, as he turned in an utterly dominant performance.
Margarito was game throughout, pushing forward in zombie mode and never backing down, despite the immense punishment he sustained during the fight. But he was no match for his arch rival.
Amazingly enough, Margarito was defiant in defeat. Even with his eye swollen shut, the clearly beaten fighter couldn't help but deliver his best verbal jab in the post-fight interview.
"I hurt him. Look at his face. I'll say it again -- he hits like a girl."
The evidence is impossible to ignore and it's obvious emotions were running high. One thing is for certain: we can turn the page on this one, folks. Take a bow, Miguel Cotto, you were amazing.

You can all thank Pacquiao. Cotto looked relieved that fight was stopped. Margarito is a warrior and never quits.

A warrior? That’s what you call somone who cheats, gets his ass handed to him , and still runs his mouth? I wish they let it continue, Margarito deserved a good beating for cheating. Hey that ryhmes.

I am willing to test myself against the toughest fighters in the world, in front of hundreds of thousands or even millions of fans, over and over again. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, but I always come to fight. I've been doing this for the past fourteen years, and I have at least a few more strong years left in me. What have you done in the past fourteen years other than act like a moron on this forum and hang on Anderson's nuts? - Dan Henderson.
Did Cotto ever bring Nick Diaz in to train for this fight?
I remember it was offered but I never heard if it went through. Bet Margarito was easy compared to sparring with Diaz.
I kid I kid, sorta
Was wondering the same thing
If you watched the first fight of Cotto-Margarito you could easily see the similarity in the styles of Diaz and Margarito
Both just come forward not even caring about taking a shot to the face and pressure you against the ropes or cage
