A pair of bantamweight brawlers will get their hands dirty at the UFC on FOX 2 event on Jan. 28, 2012, when the promotion takes over the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14 hopeful Johnny Bedford will square off against Canadian newcomer Mitch Gagnon following a "brutal" injury to Bedford's original opponent, Eddie Wineland.
UFC.com has it:
With Eddie Wineland sidelined, one of Canada's very best bantamweights, Mitch Gagnon, has stepped in to fill the spot against Johnny Bedford at the UFC on Fox event January 28th in Chicago. Verbal agreements are in for the bout between Bedford, a TUF 14 standout, and the 8-1 Gagnon, who will look to extend his six-fight win streak.
Despite getting pasted by eventual finalist John Dodson, Bedford (18-9-1) was able to bounce back at the TUF 14 live finale and run a clinic on fellow contestant Louis Gaudinot.
Gagnon comes to the UFC with an 8-1 record and penchant for strangling opponents. His most recent victim was David Harris under the Ringside MMA banner last October.
UFC on Fox 2, which will mark the promotion's second appearance on network television, will be headlined by a light heavyweight number one contender bout, as Rashad Evans and Phil Davis return from injury to battle for the right to fight Jon Jones.
Also booked for the FOX fight card is a middleweight title eliminator pitting former championship challenger Chael Sonnen against streaking 185-pound wrecking ball Mark Munoz.
