Brendan Schaub, who will take on Ben Rothwell at UFC 145 on March 24, 2012, in Montreal.
Somebody is going to get their wig split.
A heavyweight brouhaha has been booked to go down next year, as Brendan Schaub will make his long awaited return to the cage to take on Ben Rothwell at UFC 145 on March 24 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
The promotion brought word of the pending match-up late last night.
Schaub disappeared after his last bout and hasn't been heard from since suffering an embarrassing first round knockout loss to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 134 back in August. Nogueira has since had his arm snapped in half so the memory of "The Hybrid" falling prey to the Brazilian's boxing is getting hazier by the day.
He could erase it altogether with a strong performance in the "Great White North."
Standing in the way of that is Ben Rothwell, who is also coming off a fight that could best be described as embarrassing for involved. In hindsight, it was probably a bad idea to match him up against Mark Hunt in the thin air of Denver at UFC 135 in his first bout back in over a year.
The result was three rounds of two blown up heavyweights who looked like bobbleheads just flailing about.
Ultimately, Rothwell lost that fight, his second in thee tries under the UFC banner. And now that the Strikeforce heavyweights are making their way over, the margin for error is getting smaller and smaller.
Time to win now.
UFC 145 is scheduled for March 24, 2012, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Only Rory MacDonald vs. Che Mills and Travis Browne vs. Chad Griggs have been announced for the event at this time.
