Alistair Overeem documentary video for 'The Reem' season two, episode eight
Alistair Overeem takes you along for his ride on the rollercoaster to get to his UFC 141 bout against Brock Lesnar.
This latest episode of the video documentary "The Reem" begins at the press conference before segueing into various training sessions. Then we see Overeem fly out to see his mother, who is dealing with complications from cancer.
Finally, right at the end of the video, Overeem touches on the drug test controversy that has been hanging over his head for weeks now. Essentially, it's a blowoff, a way to downplay the issue and turn the focus solely of attention back to the fight itself, which is going to be huge.

This video is very interesting and enjoyable
listening to Overeem’s dad (he and his son both evoke intelligence), seeing Duffy training there with the knowledge and memory of his fight against Overeem, seeing Alistair in the hospital with his mom hopefully further dispelling any rumor Alistair fled the steroid charges, etc…
I'm very pro-Reem. Huge fan. but,
I can’t say the mom clips did anything to confirm or deny things in my mind. It seems like she has gotten through the worst of it and is just returning for check ups. He specifically said there is just scar tissue remaining. If the cancer all of a sudden was back, then yes it makes sense. But i didn’t see on that video and haven’t read in interviews what i expected when I first heard he was rushing back to be by his mothers side. With that said it’s not my judgement to make, he decides what gives him reason to return home for a few days mere weeks before a fight. Either way he passed the test and will imo pass the ones after the fight and he will be champ in 2012.
Who is the only Maniac to appear in every mmamania fantasy football league superbowl in league history?

i agree
i was hoping for more clarification on the matter but the docu is about him, i suppose they may have decided not to press the matter with having her discuss it on camera. Besides maybe she just wanted him there for support while they did the check ups, i know people that will only get lab/test results with a significant other because they give them emotional strength.
He does have a brother also, but again, it's personal so not my place to judge.

yeah i didnt want to touchg on that
but yeah, i was kinda puzzled too- technically his bro may have been able to handle things on his own, but then who are any of us to question their family dynamics or even alistair himself for wanting to be with his mother in a time of need.

If you dont like drugs then dont do them.....give them to me!
He's going to wreck Brock.
Reem’s my number 2 behind GSP.
And hot damn he’s a god damn animal.

Things we learn from watching this video
1) the reem isint training with guys of brock’s size and wrestling calibre. the closest he’s had to that is in the form of a middleweight in munoz.
2) his trainings arent that intense and if you look at his training camp where munoz was in as well, it wasnt geared around reem.
3) he claimed he started training back in august. but with all the disruptions caused by his blood test and cancer stricken mum, its going to affect his training. he’s not going to peak right, sorry to say about that.
4) brock is definitely stronger than him but if he were to take any of those knees, he is going down like a sack of potatoes.
don't know if that was a positive or negative comment
but, yeah i agree!
But i think alistair is wise enough not to show to much about his training in his videos.
I seriously think that european guys like alistair should train the american way, meaning: having a trainer for every aspect of the game. I was surprised that gegard mousasi just trains by himself and positively surprised that he’s doing so well on his own. In holland you only have the stand up game and i hope it will change soon because just think what can happen if more european fighters will train more proffesianaly. The whole mma game will benefit of it!
he also trained with Jared Rosholt.
So, that’s two highly skilled wrestlers right there.

Smart of allistair not to show that much of his training
Allistair dus not really show much of his training ……
You don,t really think that stuff was his actual training thats just a little pad training
and sum mild sparring …
Allistair always said you can get sum pad training for the camera,s but thats it ..
