UFC Quick Quote: Chael Sonnen is done with Anderson Silva, wants Dos Santos, Jones or St. Pierre

Photo

"I'm done with the guy. He and I have no business. This guy is cold product, man, he's like jerry curls and Pepsi clear. He's yesterday's news. I destroyed this guy back when he was tough. That was years ago. He's so far over the hill and past his prime, it's not worth talking about. I'm going to become the number one contender on Jan. 28. But despite what you may think, I'm not going to use that voucher to fight Anderson Silva. I'll be looking at (Junior) dos Santos, (Jon) Jones, and possibly (Georges) St. Pierre. But that, I will take that voucher to Dana White and I will pick one of those three guys. My time with Anderson is done."

-- Chael Sonnen took his traveling act back to the Off The Record Show with Michael Landsberg and in a preview released today, spit some hot fire in regards to reigning Middleweight Champion and longtime arch nemesis Anderson Silva. Old Uncle Chael says he's done with "The Spider" because the Brazilian is old and washed up. He's already had his way with the champ, after all, and in Sonnen's mind, Silva isn't actually a champion. Whether or not he actually believes that is up to you to decide. But if Sonnen can defeat Mark Munoz at UFC on Fox 2 on Jan. 28 in Chicago, Illinois, the win will earn him a title shot. Instead of going after Silva, though, Chael says he's got his eyes on Junior dos Santos, Jon Jones or Georges St. Pierre, the heavyweight, light heavyweight and welterweight champions, respectively. Two of those are actually rather intriguing bouts but what are the chances he's just popping off at the mouth and none of this is real talk? Anyone want to see Sonnen move up to challenge Jones for the 205-pound strap? Or maybe move down (if he could make it) to 170-pounds to battle St. Pierre?

Chael was done...

the moment he tapped to an injured Silva after failing his drug test talking all that shit. His legacy will be known as the guy who “almost” beat Anderson and that he sure was a funny guy.

I’d love to see him fight Jones though. Wrestling is Silva’s weakness but it would be fun to watch Jones toss Chael around and watching the puzzled look on Chael’s face right before it gets smashed.

Credible P4P Rankings.
#1: Silva (destroys top fighters making them look like they don't belong and has done it for years)
#2: Jones (destroys everybody including top guys)
#3: GSP (long time champ but can't stop people that others can who aren't blown up LWs which isn't so dominating compared to #1 and #2... hence P4P)

One bad fight doesn't undo all the amazing ones.

I think haters forget what Silva has done over the years. Call it bias but it’s also true. You think JBJ wouldn’t smash Chael?

ONE bad fight?

Are we talking about his 08 tko because Cotes knee blew out? or his 09 decision to Thales Leites. Or his 2010 mockery decision of Demian Maia? Then his hail mary against Chael? Then his tko against “the only guy to defeat him?”
After beating a thin heard of top contenders like Franklin, Henderson, Sonnen, and Vitor at 205. The rest werent exactly title contenders, just by default. Middleweight has been slim for a loooooong time. I dont even like Jones and hes starting to build a record faster against higher caliber competition already.

by KCmmaBadBoy on Dec 23, 2011 4:25 PM EST up reply actions

really, u act like the people he has beat isnt good enough, his lack luster fights where aginst people he could destroy maia, leites he would kill and cote got lucky his knee blew out anderson played it safe with them guys because he wasnt gonna be like gsp and get kod by a matt sera that shouldnt have had the chance to fight him in the first place, When he beat franklin he was the number 1 middleweight, henderson has a chance to beat anybody at anytime including jon jones and belfort is a very good middleweight and always has a chance against anybody he fights, sonnen is good but he is the one who quite not anderson, he has also beat forrest griffin who was ranked pretty high at one time in the lhw division right now anderson would give jon jones the best fight of his life and would have a high chance of beating him, jones is building a record pretty fast aginst high caliber names but the only one that he really would deserve credit for would be machida, and mabey shogun depending on which shogun shows up cant forget about his fight with coleman quinton jackson would get embarrassed by anderson silva if they was to fight and anderson could probably beat anybody jones has fought so far

by bruce roper on Dec 23, 2011 5:49 PM EST up reply actions

I'm not acting like the people he beat aren't good enough

Hendo, Griffin, Vitor, Sonnen, Franklin, I give him credit for all of those top Contenders. It would be the others who got they’re chance by default. The ones u refer to as his lack luster fights that he played it safe. “P4p king” shouldn’t play it safe. If playing it safe is your argument for his performance, then it is a sorry one. Why would someone say, “oh this guy doesn’t have a name or skill set to beat me, so instead of smashing them I’m going to play it safe!” Upsets happen, otherwise no one would ever bet on the underdog. Can’t play it safe just because they don’t have the reputation that you want them too.

by KCmmaBadBoy on Dec 23, 2011 6:24 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Okay KCmmaBadBoy, one tough fight I should have said.

Let’s not pretend Cote, Leites or Maia were anything more than Silva just toying around not taking the fight seriously. He still dominated and landed what he wanted when he wanted against them. I hated those fights too but he’s only had one rough fight. He’s still destroys tougher guys than the ones he toyed with no doubt. If you think Silva plays it safe then don’t ever let me catch you praising GSP! lol

i agree, sometimes the haters do forget how great Silva really is. He’s one of those phase 2 guys (of mma, phase 2, tito ect, phase 1 kenrock ect) who has been able to stand the test of time. I’m not really sure if Bones would smash chael tbh. Chael has looked great his last two outings, and downright scary against brian stann. I’m excited to see him against munoz, i like the both of them so it’ll be a tough fight to watch.

His legacy will be known as the guy who "almost" beat Anderson and that he sure was a funny guy.

I just don’t think it’s fair to say that, he’s still fighting, and about to get a big push in his fanbase after fighting on Fox.
i can understand why some people don’t enjoy his shtick, but chael is a smart man, and he wants the best fight, there is a reason jim miller, and other “boring” fighters don’t get a title shot. i hate that it is that way, but that’s the way it is. now, if chael beats munoz, that would be such a huge win for his record, a win that nobody can ever take away, and it may just give him another shot to take out anderson. the story/legacy hasn’t been 100% told yet, let’s watch it unfold, and enjoy it from both sides. my side being one that enjoys his sctick, and looks at him as a stephen colbert of mma, and yours being of a man that just doesn’t like the shit he’s talked and think it takes away from the sport.

And the funny thing about all of this is that Chael has a legitimate chance against any of them.

JDS TDD has never been tested , let alone what Chael brings to the table.

Jones he could have serious issues, but Chael in a wrestling match is not to be played with. Chael is the far better pedigreed , decorated wrestler and his MMA wrestling is probably better than he was as a wrestler.

And against St Pierre , Chael would be the much stronger , tougher guy .

Chael’s wrestling is really just that good.

I give Chael a better chance against JDS than against Jones and I think GSP would probably be favoring Chael.

It was pretty hard for Anderson to use good head movement with sore ribs. Every other time you see better strikers than Chael not catch Silva with shit. It won’t happen again. Alot of people love to hate on Silva in that fight cause he destroys every other time but one good thing about it was showing how tough Silva is taking all of that while he wasn’t 100%. I laugh at Chael getting the finish against Silva in a rematch. Okami’s wrestling isn’t as good as Chael’s but still good. He out wrestling Munoz but couldn’t take Silva down when he tried.

I agree that JBJ and JDS would murder Chael but not GSP. I think Chael would do to him what GSP does to others. There’s a reason why we have weight classes and Chael would be too big for GSP.

Credible P4P Rankings.

by Hank_Mardukas on Dec 23, 2011 4:09 PM EST up reply actions

The "sore ribs" excuse is tired

He had to have a pre fight doctor check him out. Nothing was said about ribs then. If Silva decided not to tell the doctor, then he cant use that as an excuse for losing. Could it be a possibility that Silvas ribs were injured while fighting Sonnen? And maybe because of his dislike of Sonnen he decided to say that he injured them before the fight? That way he would have an excuse for getting manhandled, so it wouldnt hurt his unbeatable lable? He had the shoulder injury during the Okami fight and was on pain killers during the fight. I didnt see a big difference there. But then again that fight was just another number to add to Silvas wins, pretty much a “gimme fight.” Bottom line is Silva and Greco Wrestlers with decent striking dont mix….

by KCmmaBadBoy on Dec 23, 2011 4:47 PM EST up reply actions

might be that nut huggers always real quick to throw that out as an excuse for his peformance...

If its that bad then dont fight. Not like they havent ever rescheduled a fight before.
Yes he did still win, thank you for the update… anything else you would like to include?

by KCmmaBadBoy on Dec 23, 2011 6:43 PM EST up reply actions

Right, cause sore ribs don't effect a fighter right hater?

You are a Silva hater, it’s cool but don’t deny it. Have you ever had an injury or competed in anything? If so then you’d understand that it’s hard to get off the couch with a rib injury let alone get locked into a cage against a stylist bad match up who cheated on his drug test. No excuses, facts! All of that and Chael still couldn’t put him away. That’s a tough son of a bitch. Way tougher than Sir tap alot Sonnen.

As for saying “don’t fight”. Do you really think he was gonna cancel after what he did at UFC 112? Did you not see how pissed Dana was? Are you serious?! lol Gotta look at things from all sides hater.

Credible P4P Rankings.

by Hank_Mardukas on Dec 23, 2011 10:57 PM EST up reply actions

Not a hater, its more that I’m getting tired of the rib injury argument. He had a “pre fight” injury that was passed by a doctor before the fight. So he probably he chose not to tell the doctor, n if he did that then he shouldn’t be able to use that as an excuse to why he got manhandled. When the truth probably is that Sonnen fractured his rib. But Silva wants to keep up the untouchable fighter status. When in all reality he doesn’t have good tdd, so his biggest competition is wrestlers.

by KCmmaBadBoy on Dec 24, 2011 12:07 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

well

if you go watch the fight again youll notice something. Silva doesnt sit down once that fight he stands up between rounds holding his rib half the time. So the champ for some reason stands the whole fight why do you think that is?

and yes i do remember that time that Silva beat Sonnen.
Do you remember the time that the indistructable Silva got pounded on for 22 minutes?
or the time that he lost the first round to Henderson?

Aside from Sonnen, Belfort, Franklin and Henderson the other title defenses have all been spoon fed. Wrestling is still his weakness, but anything can happen.

Do you remember when Silva talked all big about eventually moving to LHW and or HW? then he backtracked and said whoever wants to fight him can come to his weight class? I DO! he must have realized that those weight classes have a few more wrestlers

by PHISH_NATION on Dec 23, 2011 8:58 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

yes i can say aside from belfort, sonnen, franklin and hendo

Because those are the only guys that deserved to fight for the title. Thats why I said other than those guys, his title defenses were spoon fed. I know they are 4 of the best in the world. Why do you think that Silva doesnt want rematches with 3 of the 4? Because it could just as easily be they’re night instead of his. I give him credit for beating them. But options are limited in MW title contenders and its time for some rematches whether he likes it or not. I also know he beat Forrest and embarrassed him, but once again a tailor made fight for Silva. A guy who wants to slug it out. If he would have done that to Rashad, Hendo (at 205), or anyone else with a wrestling background with good striking then I would be much more impressed. But it was against Griffin who isnt known as a finisher.

(and thanks for bringing up the Griffin fight, that fight still pisses me off! haha)

by KCmmaBadBoy on Dec 23, 2011 9:11 PM EST up reply actions

All champs have had so called "spoon fed" guys to fight because

they’ve been on top so long that there’s no1 left. Silva took fights at 205 because of this even! Like Hardy, Kos and Serra the bloated LW were spoon fed? Like Fedor has had plenty of spoon fed fights? Like I said, if you’re gonna hate then hate on others for the reasons you hate on Silva.

At least Silva can finish his “spoon fed” guys! Not go 25 min of wrestling! The 185 pound division looks so weak bc Anderson makes them look that way! He even made the 2 205 guys he fought look weak! Forrest has beaten some good guys and the fights he losses are usually close. Silva DESTROYED this former champ and made him look like a beginner! Something that Shogun and Page couldn’t do! Hell, they even lost to Forrest!!!

The fight was a minute long!!

It’s not like They fought 2 rounds and Cain stood with him the entire time. It was a minute. Quit talking about what Cain didn’t do in a minute, and more what JDS did do.

It’s easy to say go wrestle junior!! He has faced a wrestler! Until you actually try and do it and find out just how strong he is ad how hard it is to take him down. Not to mention thinkin about eating a nasty uppercut trying to get the takedown and end up looking like Werdum. Chael just rushes in like a mad man for the takedown. JDS would knock his head off.

GSP would beat him up on the feet

The only reason Sonnen ever outstrikes anyone is because his opponent is worried about the td… GSP would have no such worries since he has the best tdd of all time arguably

Odd thing happened today... had to re-sgn up for MMAMania. No clue why!

oh by beating up on the feet you mean run away and throw jabs?

chael would chase him down and wouldn’t give gsp any room to breathe let alone pick him apart. Then once he would get in close, he’ll grab a hold of gsp, trip him, then take him down.

Griffin, I give him that one
And Maia??? Really? You said he looked great against Maia? You must be a dancing fan cause that’s the only thing you could have judged in that fight. Looked great RJ?

The Cote, Leitas and Maia fights were the WORST fights by a champion just about ever? He clearly kicked the Sandman’s ass and made Griffin look like a clown. But the other 3 fights were horrible fights from a so called champion. Anderson’s got all the talent in the world as a fighter albeit with probably some weaker wrestling that is not often exposed. He’s awesome everywhere else. Both those 3 fights were BS and I forever lost respect for that guy. Add that to his “no habla ingles” or whatever the portugese version of that is in his post fight interviews after being one of the longest reigning champs for an American company is unacceptable to me.

It’s actually the last second of their fight, Carwin pulls off this ridicolous sweep with just man power that JDS has no answer for. Point being, JDS doesn’t have the Brock Lesnar / Shane Carwin / Alistair Overeem kind of immeasurable strength.

by p123 on Dec 23, 2011 4:59 PM EST up reply actions

I dont recall any sweep and all play by plays never mention any sweep. The last 10 seconds of that fight end with JDS getting a takedown on Carwin, Carwin going for a sub but running out of time.

by bigdmmafan on Dec 23, 2011 5:05 PM EST up reply actions

Yea, Carwin does a guilltone choke from bottom mount, and he rolls JDS in a way I’ve never really seen. It was a clear display of the massive difference in strength, which is only natural. Brock and Shane are freaking gorillas.

by p123 on Dec 23, 2011 5:06 PM EST up reply actions

So if I understand you correctly, you’re taking a sweep from Shane Carwin(a very powerful HW) in the last like 5 seconds of a fight that JDS knew he had already won as a setting point that Sonnen could dominate JDS?

by bigdmmafan on Dec 23, 2011 5:15 PM EST up reply actions

Absolutely not. The issue given to me was strength, my response was to make people realize he doesn’t have Brock strength which we all know, and Chael is mighty strong, and would probably be coming in around 220 , 225 fresh off a cycle.

It’s not like JDS would bully CHael.

Dude, you're a dork.

Watch that fight again, JDS didn’t even try and stop that, he knew the fight was over.

What you saw was a guy who already knew he won just have a sigh of relief and take his foot off the gas realizing he’ll be fighting for the title and a guy on a comeback make one last push in his return fight. Nothing to see here.

What about earlier when carwin went for the takedown? Or when gonzaga did? Or Roy? All those guys did. And you saw them get stuffed over and over again.

Maybe YOU haven’t seen JDS’s TDD, or watch him roll and grapple but other people have. Go watch some of his training videos. JDS has great TDD, just because you haven’t seen much of it in a fight doesn’t mean anything. That’s more to the credit of junior, not letting anyone get a solid takedown on him or being on his back.

No, you might haven’t seen junior’s TDD because he hasnt been “tested” (stupid) and you might not ever see it the way he trains and fights. He won’t let it get there. He keeps you in his world and just as Cain found out, he only needs a split second to set up his distance and timing until the boom taps your skull and your body shuts off.

Fact – we’ve seen Chael get beat, stopped, subbed, and out-grappled (Maia). And that’s with the help of steroids.

Fact – we’ve seen Junior easily handle all of those things, not ever being in trouble. We’ve seen him stop everyone except Roy and Carwin (granite chins). Going the distance only twice in his 15 fight career.

I’m talking in terms of Chael winning. We really don’t know how good JDS TDD is and how well he fights off his back. GSP and Jones have proven backgrounds of elite wrestling.

What’s wrong with me? I’m just pointing out the fact that our HeavyWeight Champ, has never been in a fight with a wrestler who came to wrestle. Considering that JDS is 240, and Chael with his roids and not having to cut weight could be at least 220-225, this fight is not really as far off as you tihnk…

by p123 on Dec 23, 2011 4:54 PM EST up reply actions

I’m sorry man but no dice. Jds would kill sonnen even off his back. If thet were to ever fight (lmao) and sonnen heat Jds dude I’d buy you dinner on a mAN date take you to an event buy you all the hats and shirts you want take you home hug you and say I’m sorry and leave lmao

But how on Earth would you know that? Certainly not from watching any of JDS fights. That’s just a fan’s opinions not based on any facts you know?

JDS has what off his back exactly? Triangles? Scrambling?

What’s my opinion in my post? That JDS has an unproven grappling game? Or that Chael has some chance? Both are true, you can’t just write Chael off because of 15-20 pounds, and Im not saying it would happen or wouldn’t but saying it’s possible.

by p123 on Dec 23, 2011 5:17 PM EST up reply actions

that's why i said fair enough

I think Jds is a fucking beast and would make Sonnen look like a massacre. But you’re right, there’s a chance, so that’s why I said fair enough. I’m flabbergasted by the fact you think his smaller size could do anything to the great TDD dos Santos has, but whatever man. Have at er’.

by daniel worby on Dec 23, 2011 5:26 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Oh me 2. I think JDS is probably the real thing, but I can’t 100% until I see it you know? I think JDS is one of the few HWs who actually move like a smaller guy fluidity wise. I think based on JDS movement and agility, he can pick up things like wrestling and BJJ with no issues.

See the thing is, fluidity is the issue of the mass divide between the lighter and the heavier weights. Lighter weight guys have all the skills, you see striking and wrestling combined real well down there, sure they may have a superior wrestler, but everyone is competent everywhere.

This is because of the speed and agility IMO, the heavier weights have more power, and not everyone can move like that and you see a lot of boxy movement.

JDS is in a perfect scenario because he’s big enough to be a HW 6’4 and 240, but he’s also fluid like a LW. He can afford to throw technical punches, he’s 240 fucking pounds you know.

JDS hasn’t really proven great TDD against a guy coming to wrestle is my point.

Gonzaga never WENT IN on JDS and neither did Cain. They didn’t really follow up or anything. Which probably speaks volumes of JDS footwork.

What’s really impressive about JDS is that he’s knocking guys out left and right, yet no one really shoots on him? Why? That’s gotta be a footwork thing right there.

But against Sonnen, that won’t matter too much. Sonnen is balls to the wall wrestling your ass , my entire point is, we really don’t know how JDS would fare against that..

Carwin’s offensive wrestling is terrible. Now I’m not saying to clinch with him, but this man’s double is horrendous, D2 Champ or not.

Cain and Gonzaga never WENT IN like I mentioned, probably because of JDS excellent footwork.

So, it would be interesting to see what happens, is really all I’m bringing up. I overstated my point to get this point across though…

And this is a reason I think Brock has a clear path to the title. Overeem’s wrestling is real suspect, and JDS , we don’t really know how he would react to non stop TDs and such, it’s just that Brock runs away like a bitch when he gets tagged, so it’s very up in the air. If Brock just came to wrestle, and could shake off a couple of shots without going nuts, he has a clear path to victory. LNP gorilla style..

Yea I’ll keep my comments about what you said to myself. Chael sonnen is the Gilbert arenas of mma

This is the last chael thread in reading and or commenting on and it has little to do with his foolish “humor” antics and obvious lack of iq and worthiness.
It has most to do with the idiots who come to his defense on anything and act out as his minions . Anyone chael mentions in a quote paragraph interview etc , his minions start talkin shit about and hating on rather than talkin about mma or realizing that the people talks about are real martial artists whom he is incredibly jealous of . It’s just comforting to know that I’m much smarter than his minions and smart enough to see through his awesome “shtick” . Luckily for mania and I his time is coming to a close soon and he’ll become irrelevant yet again when zuffa no longer can carry him and sweep his transgressions and losses under the rug.
Good day.

He just won by sub, he punches in his fights, on top of that he's a very good wrestler.

I think that there makes him a “real” mixed martial artist. And everyone here knows he’s shtick, some just like it. And does being on one side or other of this particular topic define everyone’s intelligence?

He couldn’t hang in that division so did what he does best: dope up and try to cheat his way to the top. Jones and jds would destroy chael as bad as silva is going to in june.

no he wouldn't

That makes you the tard.

It may be very possible he defeats Gsp, but writing off a guy who’s 23-2 and has looked close to nothing short of unstoppable against the caliber of opponents he’s faced, and the fact Gsp is a large Welterweight to begin with, and the fact Sonnen would be fighting at a new weight class for himself against the fucking king of the Welterweight universe soorrrta makes it quite clear that Gsp would at least stand a good chance.

So take off those biased glasses and here, try these ones… Like em? They’re called Oakley’s “Reality”

Gsp has never faced someone that big

And what gsp does best (wrestle you) sonnen does better IMO. And sonnens relentless pace would make for a long night for gsp
Thinking gsp has a chance especially after this surgury makes you a tard

I really don’t think GSP does well at 185. He’s an amazing talent, but he’d be giving up some massive size there.

Like Yushin Okami and Chael would straight up dwarf him, even if he added more muscle…

wow so not only are you retarded

You can’t read. Listen, I took a reasonable approach to it and admitted Chael could beat Gsp. I also said at Welterweight and you guys start talking about Gsp at 185. Did you read my comment? Or just keep your biased blind shades on? If you can’t live in reality, tell me you guys are having a fantasy conversation and I’ll join someone else’s convo.

Gsp has a chance against anybody on the planet that’s fighting him in the welterweight division. And if you wanna go a step further, he also has a chance against anyone at middleweight. Not saying he auto wins every fight at mw. But to write him off is nothing shy or ridiculous.

he doesnt have a chance against the top 5 of the middleweight div hes way to small…silva okami and sonnen would distroy him
i also think munoz souza weidman maia and bisping would all beat him
and i never mentioned 185 p123 did, i responded to your comment in reality.
i dont think gsp stands a chance against sonnen and if u read my comment above i said that if it was at 170 as long as the weight cut didnt kill sonnen gsp would be doomed

not trying to be a dick, i actually want to see where your coming from
i dont see where this bisping hate comes from
the man has lost 3 times( 2 were questionable losses – but i guess that makes up for his questionable win over hammel lol)
one of those loses to rashad , who is an elite mma wrestler and he arguable beat him
and i dont think gsp has a chance in all honesty he walks around around 185 and just gives up to much reach and size at 185 i even think someone like stann or belfort if they rushed him would win. But i wouldnt say for sure they would
everyone i listed in my precious post i honestly believe would beat him

Bisping is 6’2 , and he’s pretty big for MW size wise. GSP would be giving up a lot to do that. Thing is, Bisping is great off his back in terms of getting back to position and not taking damage and what not, but GSP LNP from Guard should probably be the likely option.

Bisping’s one of the only guys I think is not a dangerous fight for GSP at 185.

by p123 on Dec 23, 2011 5:40 PM EST up reply actions

omg

First off Gsp walks around at 190-197lbs. So you’re off there. And I’m still just trying to make you understand you’re saying ZERO chance against these MW’s.

ZERO!!!!

Gsp and the words ZERO CHANCE at MW don’t belong together okay? I can see you thinking he’ll lose. Fine. So be it. But ZERO chance at MW is ridiculous. Its seriously ridiculous. Anyone who thinks if Gsp went to Mw and fought 7x against the top 7 opponents at MW that he would emerge with a 0-7 record at MW is absolutely clinically mental.

I’m done trying to explain this. No hard feelings, but we clearly won’t see eye to eye.

Cheers man

Dude Sonnen can’t even walk around at 190-197, Sonnen is probably 220 – 230 walk around, and this is for both of them in shape.

Who said GSP has zero chance?

All I said is that it won’t be easy.

GSP would basically be just fighting weight cutting LHWs, that’s tough to swallow for any small WW who’s beefed up…

There’s only so much beef you can put on before it doesn’t help anymore…

No i dont think gsp would ever go on a 7 fight losing streak

hes too tough mentally for that
however, i do think there is 7 maybe 8 mws who i would pick to win over him if they were to fight

and i was being serious when i said you were right for the record… no one has zero chance

First off, there is no such thing as a top 7 in MW. Lol, there’s like a top 5 and everyone else is ranked below 25…

Off the top of my head,

Anderson at 185, GSP def has a chance to win, but it’s gotta be LNP for all 5 rounds, and god damn, Anderson is just so dangerous. GSP does have a chance though of course. GSP is actually tailor made to beat Silva, just the size and tenacity of Silva might be too much.

Vitor has always had trouble with wrestlers, but god damn that boy gotta have the most dangerous hands in America right now. He doesn’t knock you out, he puts people in straight comas.

Yushin Okami is a tough tough match up for GSP. Probably tougher than the other two IMO, as GSP has no avenues to win here. Yushin uses a defensive striking style, so it will be hard to take him down coming off him being to aggressive, and he’s a solid wrestler himself. Yushin’s long reach and solid boxing technique is just a disaster fight for GSP.

Chael Sonnen, that’s another tough one as well. How does GSP stack up against one of the other elite wrestlers in MMA? That is tough for me to consider what happens here should be an excellent fight though.

Maia, GSP should be able to handle everywhere, but it’s still Maia, who’s subs gotta be a nightmare for GSP as well.

Of course I do. I did see the Sonnen picture that has him looking like the freaking Hulk on roids when he went to train with Shields and Diaz guys.

Sonnen was 207 against Marquardt, that qualifies for HW, and if you give him some time, let him eat for once, he can be 225 in probably a couple of months.

Chael making WW on the other hand, is just not happening. That’s like asking Hendo to make WW. In fact Chael can probably get much bigger than Hendo…

Chael’s a joke and needs to go away. We all know that if he wins, he’ll call SIlva out and get ignored again. Not a Jon Jones fan, but would LOVE to see him smash Sonnen. Sonnen says he “destroyed” Silva? How come when I look at the stats, Silva has a submission victory over Sonnen? He needs to wake up and smell what he’s shoveling.
