RFA results: Jens Pulver knocked out -- again (Video)

Photo of Jens Pulver via Fighters.com.

Resurrection Fight Alliance (RFA) held an event this past weekend (Fri., Dec. 16, 2011) in Kearney, Neb., which featured plenty of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veterans -- and one legend -- in action.

Unfortunately for that legend, he was viciously knocked out ... again.

I'm talking about Jens Pulver, of course, the "Evil" one who many feel has long overstayed his welcome in mixed martial arts (MMA). He's claimed he wants to go out on his terms and with head head held high.

However, it's impossible to do that when you're face down on a mat in Nebraska with no memory of what just happened to you. Pulver was viciously knocked out by Timothy Elliot in the second round of their bout, pushing Pulver's record to an uninspiring 4-10 in his last 14 fights.

The outcome was much brighter for former UFC heavyweight Gilbert Yvel, who got himself into tip-top shape and moved down to 205-pounds to take on Damian Dantibo, who he proceeded to finish via technical knockout in round one. Justin McCully was also in action, scoring a technical knockout of his own over Justin Grizzard also in the opening frame.

Check out complete RFA: "Resurrection" results (via Sherdog.com), as well as the video of Pulver's knockout loss, after the jump:

Star-divide

Alonzo Martinez defeated Mario Ramos via submission (verbal) in round one

James Krause defeated Mark Korzenowski via knockout(head kick) in round one

Mark Dickman defeated Ted Worthington via technical knockout (punches) in round two

Jared Downing defeated Eric Marriott via unanimous decision

Gilbert Yvel defeated Damian Dantibo via technical knockout in round one

Justin McCully defeated Justin Grizzard via technical knockout via (punches) in round one

Ramico Blackmon defeated Dakota Cochrane unanimous decision

Timothy Elliot defeated Jens Pulver via knockout (knee) in round two

I FUCKING love that guy, but I can't stand to see him getting ktfo all the time.

Unfortunately he’s hell bent on getting brain damage.

PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING is FUCKING RETARDED

by Nokimono on Dec 19, 2011 9:28 AM EST up reply actions

no, that's Wanderlei you're thinking about

Pulver is usually sub’d, this is his first KO in fucking ages

It does suck though, now he’s gonna want to fight again to retire on a win, only to convince himself that if he won that one, then there’s no need to retire

I wish he would but

his legacy is his to tarnish if he so desires.

IF YOU THINK REEM SHOULD BE RATED ANY HIGHER THAN AROUND THE #5 HEAVYWEIGHT (AND THAT IS STRETCHING IT) THEN YOU ARE A FLIPPIN MORON, PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

What is MMAMania talking about? The title of this article is wrong.

I agree that Jens should retire, but the title of the article suggests that this is the second time in a row that he was knocked out. Really??? Last I checked, he was last TKOed back in 2008. He’s been tapped out a bunch of times, but knocked out?

Not to make a mountain out of a mole hill, but the title of this article is awfully misleading.

Sad.

Fighting is all he knows how to do.. Unfortunately for him its time to quit…

by dragonassault on Dec 19, 2011 9:22 AM EST via mobile reply actions

I hope he retires now

his win over Ox Wheeler was good but after this ko and the other recent beatings before that win should convince him to hang em up. I hope so anyway.

by biggant on Dec 19, 2011 9:27 AM EST via mobile reply actions

I really hope Jens retires for good now.

So sad to see this happening to an once great fighter.
Reminds me a bit of Liddell carrying on too long.
I want to remember the Pulver from the (2001) Penn fight and not fighting way past his best.

that was a nasty knockout

any more fights and he risks major long term damage

by ElStIkO on Dec 19, 2011 9:33 AM EST reply actions

Sad but he aint retiring.

Unless the world suddenly flipped upside down, bills still need to be paid. And no he aint got no money to build his own gym. Jens is straight broke but his ego also wont let him retire like this.

Although I spend countless hours researching, it has taken a ‘Cali Cock-Slap’ for me to come to the realization that Frank Mir is a top HW. If not for Cali ringing my bell, I might also never have never realized that Randy Couture is MMA’s greatest achievement. Having had this sense finally rammed into me, I can now move forward and strive to breakout of my eternal bridesmaid rut.

I was in the attendance to see both Pulver and McCully and man this was just sad.

I said to Jens that i could never see him fight again, it’s too hard to see him get knocked out.

Yvel at 205 is good but won’t matter as his sub/takedown defense would take years to correct

That's the thing too, he wont take the advice of his fans or family.

So there’s not much that can be done. As far as Yvel, he’s been working his TD defense and BJJ for more than a decade – for some people it just never clicks no matter how hard they try. Hell he’s a purple belt under John Lewis yet when it comes to fight time, it’s nothin as usual. I can see him gatekeep guys comin up from challengers if zuffa brings him on.

Are the announcers coming thru the pa system?

Don’t know if I’ve ever seen a fight were the play by play was public and not just for tv viewers.

Good for Yvel! 205 pounds, he should string a couple wins together and come to SF.

20$ on money pool season with kg12 as well as VM, on who finishes higher.

“he wants to go out on his terms and with head head held high” That knee lifted his head pretty high, about as high as it’s going to get.

Should have retired when BJ spanked him years ago. He’s like AA, Crocop, Fedor and other legends; an easy win for a young lion. The problem is they’re washed up so it’s not even a legit win, but still a “big name” to have on the young lions belt.

Great fighter’s who can’t beat elite fighters but still beat mediocre okay talent?

Until Fedor beats a world class champion or top ten then he’ll be down there. His overall scheme is much greater but sports is in the here and now

It’s funny to me that people still hang on to the allure of Fedor. He’s a wash. His last good fights were pre PRIDE. I have nothing against the guy, only that he’s not the best, nor has he been since 2005. He ran from the UFC like crazy and is now getting KO’d by ’05’ers which Hendo is the man and should never be counted out, but honestly, Fedor of 2005 would have spanked Hendo. Fedor, Iceman, AA, CC, Jens, they’re all guys who stayed past their prime/worth and served as a notch on the belt of the up and comers. Not taking away from what they did in the past.

Pre PRIDE closing down.

The last time Fedor was worth a damn was 2005. After that, he’s fought can after can. They had to build up Rogers and look where it got him and them lol.

um

yes, yes you can.

Cro Cop is legend and AA was a two time UFC champ. Not bad company.

Any1 else love how Big John Just picked up his opponent

and moved him to the other side to stop the fight the same way a dad would pick up his 6 year old in a fight with a neighbor.

Haha ya I was laughing at that when I saw it. I think I replayed that more than the actual k.o.
