Strikeforce weigh in results LIVE from San Diego for 'Melendez vs Masvidal'

Photo

The official weigh in event for Strikeforce: "Melendez vs Masvidal" took place today (Dec. 16, 2011) at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California.

All but one of the 18 fighters scheduled to compete tomorrow night hit their respective weights without incident. The lone dissenter, Jerron Peoples, managed to come in one and a half pounds heavy for his catchweight bout. He has additional time to lose the weight or forfeit a portion of his fight purse.

"Melendez vs. Masvidal" will feature lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez putting his 155-pound belt on the line against a very dangerous, and hungry, Jorge Masvidal in the main event of the evening.

In addition, former Strikeforce light heavyweight and 2008 DREAM middleweight grand prix champion, Gegard Mousasi, will look to get back in the promotion's win column in more than one year when he takes on former University of Tennessee defensive standout Ovince St. Preux.

K.J. Noons and Cristiane Santos are also in action.

Wilcox fodor should be main card.

And going along with tradition remaining undercard looks abysmal aside from the Bowling getting some sparring in.

Although I spend countless hours researching, it has taken a ‘Cali Cock-Slap’ for me to come to the realization that Frank Mir is a top HW. If not for Cali ringing my bell, I might also never have never realized that Randy Couture is MMA’s greatest achievement. Having had this sense finally rammed into me, I can now move forward and strive to breakout of my eternal bridesmaid rut.

Mousasi RD 1?

I think OSP will be most dangerous in RD 1. All Strikeforce fighters must know what’s at stake. I think Mousasi tires him out and finishes late RD 2 or 3.
