Great news for all you "Dean of Mean" fans hoping to catch a glimpse of "The Mean 1" in his Strikeforce middleweight title fight next month against Luke Rockhold.
The Showtime network, home to the Strikeforce brand of mixed martial arts for many moons, will offer the "Rockhold vs. Jardine" event as part of its free preview weekend (Jan. 6-8, 2012) next month in Las Vegas.
From the official press release:
On Saturday, January 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast), SHOWTIME Sports will air the STRIKEFORCE Middleweight Championship featuring defending champ Luke Rockhold vs. Keith Jardine, with four additional mixed martial arts bouts, live from The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Main Event:
185 lbs.: Luke Rockhold vs. Keith Jardine
Main Card (Showtime):
185 lbs.: Robbie Lawler vs. Adlan Amagov
205 lbs.: Muhammed Lawal vs. Lorenz Larkin

Call me crazy but I'm rooting for Jardine.
A world title is exactly what he needs to help put that career back on track. do I think he’ll win, nope.
I still can’t figure out how Jardine is going to make 185. He was already one of the biggest LHWs, I just don’t see how it’s possible.

This Fight is IRRELEVANT
This fight is probably the most irrelevant MW title fight in mma history.
Jardine is a punching bag and Rockhold is a person whose only talent is surviving and scraping by.
Tim Kennedy is a punching bag too and is just as irrelevant. He only wins via employing his LOW LEVEL grappling skills against guys who have zero MMA-wrestling skills.
The Strikeforce MW division is a holding tank for guys who have nowhere else to go but out to pasture.
Women’s MMA is much more exciting than these guys. I’d much rather watch Rousey versus Tate (or Cyborg versus Tate) than this sorry excuse for a title fight. When Cyborg drops to 135 lbs. the women’s division in Strikeforce will be more exciting than the men’s.
