UFC on FX 1 books Ryan Jimmo vs Karlos Vemola for Jan. 20 in Nashville

Photo

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has a new fighter debuting at its inaugural UFC on FX 1 event on Jan. 20, 2012, at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

He's a pretty "Big Deal."

Ryan Jimmo, of Maximum Fighting Championship (MFC) fame, will make his highly-anticipated debut against Karlos Vemola when the UFC invades "Music City." Jimmo was pounded out in his debut fight back in 2007 before erupting for a 15-fight winning streak, where he now stands at 16-1.

Standing in his way is Vemola, who has struggled under the Zuffa banner after terrorizing the European circuit from 2008-10. "The Terminator" is 1-2 as a UFC employee (7-2 overall) with his lone win coming at the expense of Seth Petruzelli back at UFC 122.

Star-divide

UFC on FX, which will mark the promotion's inaugural effort on the FOX-owned network, will be headlined by two top lightweight contenders, Jim Miller vs. Melvin Guillard, who both had their 155-pound title-challenging aspirations dashed with disappointing losses in their most recent performances.

Also penciled in for the FX fight card is a heavyweight battle between Pat Barry vs. Christian Morecraft, as well as a welterweight slugfest that pits Josh Neer vs. Duane Ludwig.

Jimmo is the biggest, whitest robot ever!

if he wins, you’ll see what I mean

On a side note. The article says he is on a 15 win streak. It also says he lost his debut fight. Finally, it says his record is 16-1. Doesn’t add up.

Ryan Jimmo has arrived.

Good for him, he deserves it, but he did get the Canadian nod against Sokodjou in that title fight.

I think it was that weird scoring

It was a great idea but I’m still not sure how much I liked it. I DEFINATELY like that the scoring was more defined, but I still it was weird.

Indeed he did.

I’m not sold on Jimmo yet. He seems to have talent but he hasn’t really fought anyone. And like you mentioned he was gifted that win over Sokodjou which happens to be one of the only big name fighters, if I’m not mistaken, he’s fought.

by emperorj on Nov 29, 2011 9:11 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

This is the moment we have all been waiting for, a long undefeated streak tested against b and c level talent. He didn’t look great and imo should have lost to Sokodjou.

As Lombard continues to pile up his wallet on seemingly easy money yet impressive no doubt we see one of these two get in the big show. If someone said three years ago that Jimmo would fight in the UFC and not Fedor what would you say?

I hope JImmo all the best and it’s cool that Canada may have a serious contender at 205, the sport may grow more so there as many people above 185 were shit.

Jimmo sucks.

I don’t want to see him in the UFC. He had his chance on TUF and he couldn’t even make it in the house. These Queer Canadian Karate Kids need to stay the fuck out of the UFC.

He is a boring standup fighter. Those are actually hard to find. And Forrest has busted about 8 more grapes than this schmuck. Hopefully he loses and has to kick rocks all the way back to Canada.

Mike...

What’s up with the hate for Canada. When our country fails (yes I’m American too) we r gonna run there first. I don’t understand ur view on that country.

lol, I got nothing wrong with Canada, just a handful of the fags that live there.

I dislike GSP and I think Jimmo sucks. if either of them were from my hometown, or even Washington DC, I’d still have the same opinion of them.
