UFC 138 results and LIVE fight coverage for 'Leben vs Munoz' on Nov. 5 in Birmingham

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to pull the trigger today (Nov. 5, 2011) on its final Spike TV fight card emanating from the LG Arena at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England.

UFC 138: "Leben vs. Munoz" will feature a middleweight mash-up between surging division contenders Chris Leben and Mark Munoz, who will throw hands in the first-ever five round non-title fight while former UFC welterweight number one contender Thiago Alves makes his return to the cage against Swedish newcomer Papy Abedi.

Chris Leben vs. Mark Munoz (185-pound limit)

Round one: Leben takes command of the center of the cage and Munoz throws a weak leg kick. Leben throws a left hook and Munoz immediately drops for a takedown and scores a takedown, passing to half guard. Leben throws an elbow off his back and Munoz throws some punches. Leben uses the fence to get back to his feet as both men clinch. Munoz throws some right hands to the body and drops for a single leg takedown attempt but Leben uses a whizzer to escape. Munoz lands a right hand but Leben scores a takedown and drops several right hands on him. Munoz gets to his feet, covers up and Leben swarms him with big bombs. Munoz turns into him and reverses the position as they separate. Leben pushes forward with a combination of hooks and throws a foot stomp in the clinch. Leben catches a knee and takes Munoz down but Munoz pops right back to his feet. Leben latches on a guillotine but Munoz takes him down. Leben might be gassing his arms out and Munoz pops his head free. Munoz drops some big right hands and blasts Leben with a right hand as he tries to get up. Munoz looks for a guillotine and lands huge right hands as Leben gets to his feet but Leben walks right through them and throws a punch of his own. Leben takes top position in a scramble and Leben stuffs a takedown, throwing elbows and hammerfists as the round concludes. 10-9 Munoz

Round two: Munoz closes the distance with a right hook and backs off. Leben presses forward with a combination of winging hooks but Munoz takes inside position in the clinch. Leben fends off an inside trip but Munoz turns the corner and takes him down. Leben has full closed guard and throws some punches and elbow strikes from bottom but Munoz postures up and starts dropping some massively heavy ground and pound. Leben gets to his feet, just absorbing punishment and keeps pressing forward. They clinch and Munoz gets on top again. Big elbow from Munoz and Leben turns away trying to stand up but eats more bombs from Munoz. Leben is bleeding bu the gets to his feet. Leben latches onto Munoz's neck and he takes top position on the ground. Leben is squeezing hard, gritting his teeth but he lets it go. Munoz pops back to his feet and the ref calls time out to have Leben's cut checked out. Masuka from Dexter checks out the cut and they go back to work. Leben throws a body kick and presses forward with a combination, again taking top position. Leben latches onto Munoz's neck but Munoz sweeps him beatifully and gets on top, dropping big body punches and then more to the head. Leben again gets to his feet but Munoz drops down for a takedown. Munoz takes top position along the fence and drops some punches as both men trade strikes until the horn sounds. 10-8 Munoz

Leben can't see out of his left eye and they stop the fight between rounds.

Final result: Mark Munoz defeats Chris Leben via TKO (doctor stoppage) at 5:00 of round two

Brad Pickett vs. Renan Barao (135-pound limit)

Round one: Barao opens with a leg kick and Pickett swings wildly, they both trade punches with reckless abandon. Wow, this is wild already. Pickett backs off and Barao throws a spinning back fist. They both stand in the pocket and blast each other with bombs, Pickett gets the better of them. Barao throws a flying knee but whiffs and Pickett responds with a combination. Barao opens up with some kicks to the legs and body and Pickett nails Barao with a lead left hook. Barao shoots and gets stuffed as Pickett throws a massive overhand right that just misses. Barao creates space with a push kick. Barao lands a nice uppercut that knocks Pickett off balance but Pickett comes back firing. Pickett drops down with a nice right hook to the body and both men exchange punches again, winging hooks. This is wild. Barao throws a huge combination that backs Pickett up all the way across the cage and finishes it off with a solid right hook.  Barao throws a HUGE knee that blasts Pickett and then follows it up with a combination of punches as Pickett goes down! Barao tries to follow up with ground and pound and Pickett turns his back. Barao leaps onto Pickett's back beautifully and sinks in a rear naked choke almost immediately. He doesn't have his forearm underneath Pickett's chin but he squeezes so tight that he forces the tap anyways. Wow, that was incredible.

Final result: Renan Barao defeats Brad Pickett via submission (rear naked choke) at 4:09 of round one

Thiago Alves vs. Papy Abedi (185-pound limit)

Round one: Alves opens with a big inside leg kick and a body kick. Abedi has his hands high and Alves backs him off with a punching combination. Abedi backs Alves into the cage with a combination and he clinches, throwing a knee. Alves breaks free but Abedi is stalking him so Alves lands a nasty body kick. Head kick from Alves is blocked but he follows it up with an inside leg kick as Abedi comes forward. Abedi presses forward but Alves circles away when he's about to be pinned against the fence. Alves lands a right punch and he hurts Abedi, he lands a combination and Abedi goes down! The ref almost stops the fight but Alves mounts Abedi, pounds on him with punches and then takes his back when Abedi turns away. Alves secures a rear naked choke and forces a tap! "The Pitbull" celebrates by brushing off his shoulder! Huge victory to get back on track for Thiago Alves.

Final result: Thiago Alves defeats Papy Abedi via submission (rear naked choke) at 3:32 of round one

Cyrille Diabate vs. Anthony Perosh (205-pound limit)

Round one: Diabate stalking Perosh early and has firm control of the center of the cage. Perosh tries to close the distance by dropping down but doesn't even get close. Perosh is having serious issues with Diabate's lenght as well. Diabate is landing punches and kicks and Perosh has no answer at the moment. Perosh shoots in and gets stuffed easily. Perosh again tries for a takedown but gets stuffed and falls to his back. Diabate takes top position and drops some ground and pound before getting kicked off. Diabate lands a big kick to the body but Perosh catches it and takes it to side control. Perosh surrenders side control and it just looks like he's stalling. He's got to work. Perosh fails with an arm triangle attempt and postures up slightly. He stands up and drops a couple weak punches from top position as the round concludes. 10-9 Diabate

Round two: Diabate lands a big knee to open things up and he's stalking Perosh again, keeping Perosh along the fence. Diabate comes in aggressively and Perosh ducks a left hook and takes him to the ground. Perosh passes to full mount and takes Diabate's back. Perosh wraps up Diabate's neck and Diabate turns towards the rear naked choke to escape but he's still in serious trouble. Perosh postures up and drops some punches. Perosh wraps up an arm triangle but gives up on it and he's still in mount. Diabate gives up his back again and Perosh has both hooks in, dropping punches. Perosh opens up with punches from behind and then secures a rear naked choke. Diabate tries to turn out of it but he can't escape and he taps! Big upset victory for Anthony Perosh there.

Final result: Anthony Perosh defeats Cyrille Diabate via submission (rear naked choke) at 3:09 of round two

Terry Etim vs. Edward Faaloloto (155-pound limit)

Round one: Etim opens with a combination and throws a big spinning back kick. Faaloloto closes the distance and Etim jumps guard, wrapping his arms around Faaloloto and he's got his arm underneath Faaloloto's chin deep. Faaloloto falls to the ground and he taps! Wow, that was one of the fasted submission in UFC history!

Final result: Terry Etim defeats Edward Faaloloto via submission (guillotine choke) at 0:17 of round one

John Maguire vs. Justin Edwards (170-pound limit)

Round one: Edwards with inside leg kick that is looks low. Backs up, throws another inside leg kick, this time it is definitely low. Break for Maguire. Maguire gives the fans a quick show. We're back. Edwards charges in with a flurry of pucnhes that all miss, followed by a body kick that connects. Edwards rocks Maguire with a punch and Maguire is down. Edwards on top in side control, looking to keep him down. Maguire wall-walks and reverses. Edwards puts everything he has into a guillotine from the bottom. Maguire slips out and is in his full guard now. Edwards lands a few good elbows from the bottom. Edwards pushes him off with his feet and is back up on his feet. Clinched against the fence. Maguire with double underhooks and has Edwards pinned against the fence. Dirty boxing from both fighters. Maguire sweeps the leg and is on top again in the full guard. Edwards working hard to get back up and he does. Maguire grabs his neck and lands a good knee. Edwards slips his head out but is still up against the cage. Edwards reverses and lands a good punch to the body. Maguire goes for standing kimura that is unsuccessful but he gets his back. Edwards spins out and in the scramble we're back standing. Almost immediately it goes back to the mat, now back standing. These scrambles are furious! Maguire gets another takedown and is in side control. Edwards holding on to his neck from the bottom. Very tough round to score. I give it to Maguire 10-9 for takedowns and control.  

Round two: Maguire with nice inside leg kick. Edwards responds with a punch combination but doesn't really land. Fighters clinch but break up and back to center. Edwards throws big leg kick but it's clocked by Maguire. Maguire throws flying kick that also misses. Edwards comes in with a multi-punch combo and lands a few. Maguire with a good left hand to the head. Three minutes left and they're tied up against the fence, dirty boxing. Maguire gets underhooks and slams Edwards for takedown. Maguire has his back and both hooks in for body lock. Edwards doing his best to control Maguire's wrists and defend submission attempts. Just under two minutes left. Maguire trying to soften him up with strikes, but Edwards is landing almost as many elbows from reverse. Maguire gets his arm under the chin. Very close to getting the choke in. Thirty seconds left. Maguire goes for an armbar right at the horn! Edwards narowly escapes. Easily 10-9 for Maguire. 

Round three: Maguire jabs to keep Edwards at bay. Edwards continues to throw looping right hands that are coming dangerously close to clipping Maguire. Edwards drops to go for heel hook. Maguire defends, drops down and goes for kneebar! Very close to getting it but Edwards gets away. Back to standing position. Maguire has Edwards' neck and is landing some good knees to the head. Maguire with the takedown and is in side control. Good knees to the side by Maguire. Two minutes to go. Maguire in full mount. Edwards rolls and Maguire has his back now. Maguire has the bodylock and is looking for a submission. Maguire trying to gets his arm under Edwards' chin. Edwards controlling his wrist to defend. Maguire loses bodylock and Edwards spins. Maguire goes for an arm, causing Edwards to spin and Maguire gets his back again. Thirty seconds left. Edwards finds a hole and slips out but he's taken down again almost instantly. Maguire goes for guillotine right near the end. Another 10-9 round for Maguire. Should easily get the unanimous decision victory in his Octagon debut. 

Final result: John Maguire via unanimous decision

Rob Broughton vs. Philip De Fries (265-pound limit)

Round one: Broughton comes forward immediately. De Fries shoots for takedown but nothin' doin'. Clinches up against the fence. De Fries looks very interested in getting the fight to the mat. Ref splits them up. Back to center. De Fries fires a right hand and misses. Clinched up again against the fence. De Fries working hard to get a leg and land a takedown but he's not getting close. I take that back. He reached down, grabbed the ankle and diwn goes Broughton. De Fries on top  in side control. Broughton trying to escape off the cage with his feet. De Fries pulls him away from the fence. De Fries in half guard but very close to full mount. Broughton up and on knees but De Fries keeps him down. Broughton has no choice but to go back to his back to avoid allowing De Fries to take his back. De Fries on top still landing a bit of ground and pound. Broughton with a good upkick from his back. Side control for De Fries. Broughton trying to get back up. De Fries gets his back with hooks in. Not enough time to finish. Round over. 10-9 for De Fries.

Round two: De Fries instantly rushes in for clinch again. He eats a punch but doesn't give it up. De Fries with the double leg and it's back on the mats. De Fries is dominating in the grappling. Broughton appears to be wearing out. De Fries has his back and trying to get both hooks in. Good chance Broughton gasses enough for De Fries to get a submission. Broughton on his knees and De Fries working the "over-under" for control. Broughton able to wall-walk off the cage and get back up, but De Fries never let go of his hips. Quickly, De Fries has him back down. Somehow, Broughton sweeps from the bottom and now HE is on top. Sneaky. Side control. Broughton trying to land some ground and pound. De Fries working on kimura from bottom. Broughton elbowing and punching De Fries in the ribs. Just under two minutes left. Broughton now trying for a kimura of his own. De Fries tries to slide out but gets stuck in a mounted crucifix. Very bad for De Fries. Broughton landing some good, hard shots. Theirty seconds left and still in the mounted crucifix. De Fries eating a lot of ground and mound. Round over. 10-9 for Broughton. Very big round for him, proving he can hold his own in the grappling exchanges.  

Round three: De Fries lands a few nice jabs. Broughton throws huge overhand haymaker but hits only air. De Fries looking for the leg and gets the takedown. Half guard. De Fries softening up ribs, trying to get his leg out for full mount or side control. It's out. Side control. Broughton trying to push off fence with his feet. De Fries landing some elbows, but mainly trying to control. Broughton tries to roll out and De Fries gets his back. Now he has side control as Broughton tries to escape again. Just under three minutes to go. De Fries spins and has his back again. One hook in. Now two. Two minutes left. Broughton rolls over but is in full mount now. Both fighters look gassed. De Fries is nailing Broughton with elbows and punches in the face, every so often, looking for an arm to grab hold of for a kimura. One minute left. De Fries in "north-south" position working for a choke or kimura. Broughton hits him with a couple of marginal hammerfists from the bottom. Ref stands them up. Broughton throws a big right at the horn that misses. Should be 10-9 for De Fries and the unanimous decision win.

Final result: Philip De Fries via unanimous decision

Michihiro Omigawa vs. Jason Young (145-pound limit)

Round one: Right away Omigawa rushes in and gets hit with a couple punches. Omigawa comes right back and shoot for takedown. Young does a good job of defending and counter strikes with a few nice strikes. Young with huge kick to mid section. Omigawa backs off and regroups. Omigawa fakes a kick then throws and lands inside leg kick. Young looking very comfortable in stand up. Omigawa looks like he's going to want to get this to the mat soon. He shoots again and misses. Omigawa continually switching stances. Omigawa comes in again looking for takedown, fails but clinches against fence. Now he gets the takedown after several attempts. Omigawa on top in half guard. Not much activity. Omigawa struggling to keep Young down. "Shotgun" is up. Against the fence again. Nice inside knees by Omigawa, then a nice quick right hand to the head. Young lands a nice leg kick. Young appears to be cut over his right eye and there is also a swelling. Young lands a nice knee as Omigawa shoots again. Right near end of round, Young shoots, Omigawa reverses, and almost gets a choke in from the side. Very close round. Probably 10-9 in favor of Young for significant striking. 

Round two: Young's eye looks bad. Very swollen. It apparently resulted from an accidental headbutt. Omigawa lands a half-hearted kick then shoots for successful takedown. Omigawa in Young's full guard, sliding him towards the fence. Young lands a punch from the bottom. Omigawa attempting to stuff Young's right hand behind his own back. Now he switches to kimura attempt. Bad spot for Young. Omigawa in side control and continuing to work for a submission. Young rolls out of it! Great escape and he's back on his feet. Young with nice leg kick. Young with a nice right uppercut. Young with head kick attempt that barely misses. Two minutes left. The two clinch in the center. Young with nice elbow then Omigawa sweeps for takedown. Omigawa in side control. He's had dominant position most of this round but oddly doesn't seem to know what he wants to do with it. Omigawa is using his position more to wear his opponent down and gets points than he is to work for a finish. Young looks frustrated. Crowd starting to boo. Omigawa in full mount with less than a minute left. Back to side control. Omigawa lands a few hammerfists but not damaging at all. Omigawa ends on top. 10-9 for Omigawa.

Round three: Young comes right out with a good right hook that lands. Young with big flying knee attempt. Doesn't get all the way through. Clinch. Omigawa lands a few dirty boxing strikes. Young setting up uppercut with with his left jabs. Tangled up and Omigawa uses his judo again to throw Young to the mat. Omigawa drops down for a heel hook. Young out after a few seconds. Back up standing. Omigawa's hands are almost totally down. Dangerous. Omigawa clinches up and gets another takedown. Omigawa on top working for a choke submission. Young is out but on his back now. Omigawa in side control. Just under two minutes to go. Omigawa lands a couple of elbows and is working to get Young's back. Young trying to use cage to get back up. Omigawa doing good job of keeping him down. Young landing occasional elbow from his back but not deterring Omigawa who is still on top in control. Just under a minute to go. Omigawa goes for kimura but can't get a hold of it. Omigawa trying to get crucifix in place. Young reverses and is on top, lands a few good punches from top but probably not enough. Should be 10-9 for Omigawa.

Final result: Michihiro Omigawa via unanimous decision

Chris Cope vs. Che Mills (170-pound limit)

Round one: Cope starts off with some feints. Nice leg kick for Mills. Mills with another leg kick. Cope responds with a punch-kick combo. Mills drops Cope with huge knee! He's all over him now with punches in bunches! It's all over! Quick and violent finish! Mills wins via TKO!

Final result: Che Mills via TKO (strikes) at 0:40 of round one

Chris Cariaso vs. Vaughan Lee (135-pound limit)

Round one: Crowd very excited and cheering for Lee, the hometown hero. Both guys come out throwing. Cariaso connects first with a right hand then charges in for a takedown. Lee makes standing guillotine attempt. Cariaso is out and we're up against the cage for some dirty boxing and foot stomps. Lee with a nice standing knee to the head. Lee gets the sweep and the takedown and is in half guard, now full guard up against the cage. Lee postures up and lands a right hand. Lee tries for the neck again but unable to secure it and in the scrum, Cariaso is back up on his feet. Lee trying to sweep again for another takedown, clearly preferring to get this on the canvas. Lee with a couple nice inside knees. Lee sweeps again and this battle is once again on the mat. One minute left. Some quick exchanges in the middle of the cage and Lee pushes things back to the fence. Another takedown for Lee. Yet another failed guillotine attempt and Cariaso is back up. The round ends with Lee controlling Cariaso against the fence. 10-9 for Lee.

Round two: Good inside leg kick right away for Lee. Both fighters exchange hands and both land. Lee wastes no time and goes for the takedown again. Once more, Lee has his arm around Cariaso's neck, still working for the submission. Cariaso works out of it and is back on his feet. Cariaso has underhooks, lands a nice elbow and gets away. Cariaso runs in with a punch combination. Lee throws overhand left and misses then clinches up against fence. Cariaso reverses then Lee rolls off the fence. Back to the center. Cariaso clinches and throws Lee for the takedown. Cariaso on top in half guard, trying to pass for side control. Lee working heels to Cariaso's quads, trying to get out from underneath. Somehow, Cariaso slips his leg out and has him fully mounted now. Lee does a great job of hip escaping and slips out, but Cariaso still on top, just not in full mount anymore. Half guard now for Cariaso. Lots of intricate "chess positioning" going on. Cariaso stands and looks to land some punches to his grounded opponent. Lee looks for triangle as Cariaso rushes in but can't get anything out of it. Round two over. 10-9 Cariaso.

Round three: Cariaso with inside leg kick and then a one-two punch combination. Cariaso with nice right hook that lands. Lee clinches up, not looking comfortable in the stand up exchange. Lee pushes action to fence and tries for takedown. Both men working knees and stomps. Ref separates, back to middle. Cariaso tries for takedown but Lee defends well. Lee with nice spinning backfist, partially lands. Lee throws two ineffective karate headkicks that miss entirely. Back up against the fence. Lee looking to ear him down a bit. Cariaso lands a nice couple of knees. Cariaso with takedown. Just over two minutes. Crucial part of the fight as it appeared to be tied coming into this round. Cariaso still on top and now is in side control. Cariaso with some ground and pound, trying to get hooks in. He's got them. Lee defending well and turns toward him. Cariaso tries to take his back again. One minute left. Cariaso tries to transition for arm triangle choke but Lee very cagey in defense. Cariaso lands several big elbows from top. The round ends with Cariaso controlling Lee's back with a very tight rear-naked choke attempt that nearly finishes him. 10-9 for Cariaso. He should get the decision nod.

Final result: Chris Cariaso via split decision
