UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones poses in his birthday suit for ESPN Magazine's annual "The Body Isssue" for 2011.
"Bones" is the latest mixed martial artist to join the list of athletes to pose nude, which includes Christiane Santos, Randy Couture and Gina Carano.
If you want to pick up this year's edition, which also features gymnast Alicia Sacramone and soccer player Hope Solo, the magazine hit newsstands this past week.
And now that you've seen this, we just know you're rushing to purchase your very own copy.

It brings more coverage to the sport which is always good. It may make someone interested in this guy the same way people were after Carano and Cyborg were in it. Curiosity is what fuels new viewers.

Men nude in a sports magazine mostly read by men. If they are fans of MMA I think they will think its cool or not think of it at all lol. While men who don’t know MMA and just have preconceived notions about it will just use it as more ammo that these guys just hump one another on the ground. I don’t think men reading a men’s magazine that don’t know who that naked Bones is will be intrigued to check him out further.
So, haters will still be haters, people who like MMA won’t change and for the most part I don’t think people will be enticed to look further about a person because they saw someone they didn’t know naked.

Not true, I get lamblasted (not even sure if that is the right word) but
I always say shit like, Kongo has one hot dude body or wholly shit AP looks great! So not all men would say that and I think your problem that the same men that would say that photo is gay publicly would follow through and say it is still gay on a poll due to insecurity being that low. I work with middle school through high school students and am not that far out of college. These guys that are insecure are VERY insecure about homophobia. It drives me nuts. I know and you know that that picture is artwork of the photographers and any sexual ties to it are solely in the eyes of the beholder that are putting them there. I feel a little defensive it sounds like you are insinuating that I am in the homophobic boat. But, I just really think this photo isn’t going to hurt or help that much either way. I think there will be a minority that will look further like you were talking about and a minority of people currently feeling out MMA that would turn them away from the sport. In the end they negate one another.

I dont mean to imply you are homophobic so if that is how you understood it I apologize. However, the curiosity garnered by things like this cannot be negated. I dont think this picture turns anyone from the sport and if it does they would never become a fan anyways.
I looked up alot of the people on here that I didnt know. And because of that my intrigue of their respective sport just slightly elevated. For example I didnt know what Helio even drove, Nascar or what not. Now I do. And now if I flip the channel I may look for him to see how he is doing.
Same for this. Maybe a non-MMA fan sees this. notices his name and his title. Then maybe he sees a commerical or a UFC unleashed and he now tunes in. There is no a chance he becomes a fan.
