Bellator Fighting Championships today (Oct. 4, 2011) announced that reigning middleweight champion Hector Lombard will face former UFC and Strikeforce fighter Trevor Prangley in a non-title catchweight fight at 195-pounds on Nov. 19 from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Bellator 58 will air live on MTV2 and in commercial-free HD on EPIX at 9 p.m. ET on fight night with the preliminary card streaming live on Spike.com, starting at 7 p.m. ET.
"I just want November to get here and knock someone out. I doesn't matter who it is, I just want to do what I do and that's win. I don't know much about Trevor, but it doesn't matter. I'll be in front of my fans in Florida, and it's going to be a show."
Lombard is 30-2-1 and hasn't lost in 24 fights. He was last seen heel-hooking Jesse Taylor at Australian Fighting Championship (AFC) 2 back on Sept. 3 in Melbourne.
Prangley doesn't sound too concerned:
"Both of us are going to get in that cage and throw bombs, no questions asked. It's no secret both of us like to stand and bang, and that's exactly what everyone is going to get. I know Hector is really tough on his feet, but so am I, so he's going to have to play my game when the cage door shuts."
The South African, less than two months removed from his 39th birthday, is mired in a two-fight losing skid and has only one win since 2009: A split decision over the struggling Keith Jardine at Shark Fights 13 just over a year ago.
Tickets for Bellator 58 are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com.
What say you Maniacs, does Prangley have a shot here? Or is this just another squash match until Lombard gets to face the winner of the middleweight tournament?
