Programming reminder: 'Countdown to UFC 136' debuts tonight (Oct. 3) on Spike TV


Countdown to UFC 136: "Edgar vs. Maynard III" will debut TONIGHT (Monday, Oct. 3, 2011) at 11 p.m. ET on Spike TV to promote the upcoming pay-per-view (PPV) event scheduled for the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011.

The network special will provide a glimpse into the preparation and training camps of the fighters set to headline the show, featuring current UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar and division number one contender Gray Maynard. currently lists replays of "Countdown to UFC 136" at the following times:

Friday, Oct. 7 at 1:30 a.m. ET on the Versus Network
Friday, Oct. 7 at 9 a.m. ET on Spike TV
Saturday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. ET on Spike TV

"Edgar vs. Maynard III" will also feature a co-main event pitting featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo against Kenny Florian as well as a 185-pound brawl between former middleweight number one contender Chael Sonnen and the hard-hitting Brian Stann.

155 lbs.: Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard

Main card (Pay-per-view):

145 lbs.: Jose Aldo vs. Kenny Florian
185 lbs.: Chael Sonnen vs. Brian Stann
155 lbs.: Melvin Guillard vs. Joe Lauzon
145 lbs.: Nam Phan vs. Leonard Garcia

"Prelims" (Spike TV):

155 lbs.: Anthony Pettis vs. Jeremy Stephens
185 lbs.: Demian Maia vs. Jorge Santiago

Preliminary card (May not be broadcast):

185 lbs.: Steve Cantwell vs. Mike Massenzio
145 lbs.: Darren Elkins vs. Zhang Tie Quan
265 lbs.: Joey Beltran vs. Stipe Miocic
185 lbs.: Eric Schafer vs. Aaron Simpson will provide LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the main card action on fight night (Saturday, Oct. 8), which is slated to air at 9 p.m. ET on pay-per-view. The latest quick updates of the live action will begin to flow earlier than that around 7 p.m. ET with the preliminary bouts.
