Maniacs it's time to wake up.

     This isn't a hippie movement, or a hipster movement, or a protest from the lazy and unemployed. This isn't  liberal agenda, or an anarchist wet dream or even a socialist rising. This isn't even an American movement. Occupy Wall Street has gone global. The media is covering it more and more every day. The arrests are increasing. The voices are getting louder. The cause is becoming more defined. The potential of this movement actually causing change is becoming a reality. Occupy Wall Street is happening and history is unfolding in front of our very eyes. Yes we are Maniacs, we are here to pass time at work, to learn and argue about the sport we love, to google booty and share with our fellow bloggers, and in many cases to simply discuss whatever is on our minds at any given moment. So why has there been so little discussion about this protest that is happening in every major city from border to border? What do you really know about Occupy Wall Street?

    The few times I have brought it up the subject has immediately been shot down with laughter and ridicule as I'm reminded that most of our community seems to be on the other side of the fence when it comes to this subject. I find that horribly depressing. Being the loan Maniac shouting at the top of his lungs that "the emperor has no clothes" can tend to wear on you. It's not a pleasant feeling when so many who share a common interest with you feel the exact opposite about something so important. Well all that changed this morning. When I awoke from my slumber a little past 11am the first link I clicked on happened to be Joe Rogans recent podcast in which he shares his feelings on Occupy Wall Street. I suddenly was filled with hope. I know Rogans pretty out there, but maybe just maybe this could be the beginning of the MMA community's participation in this movement, maybe just maybe a few of you will be a little more open to Joe's opinions then some hipster's on a moped. Maybe you will read this and click the link and open your mind to a different view then what fox news or the guy in the cubicle next to you has been spouting for the past 7 weeks. I honestly don't expect you to change how you feel because Joe Rogan said so, but maybe you'll be compelled to look further into what is happening at the park downtown and maybe when you look into the reason why it is happening you will find something completely different than you expected. Remember even if you disagree with it, unless your stinkymillionairefingers they are protesting for you to have a better life. They do want your children to walk down an easier path then you have. You are the 99%.
