It would seem Sonnen just can’t get the pound-for-pound king out of his mind, throwing dirt on his name every single chance he gets. You could argue he's become borderline obsessive
Sonnen brought out his inner "Stone Cold" Steve Austin last week in Houston after he defeated Brian Stann at UFC 136, as he laid out a veritable "loser leaves town" style challenge for "The Spider" with this beautifully crafted promo:
"Anderson Silva, you absolutely suck! Super Bowl weekend will be the biggest rematch in the history of this business. I'm calling you out, but we're upping the stakes: I beat you, you leave the division. You beat me, I will leave the UFC ... forever."
Silva, in attendance and doing his best to laugh it off, has yet to accept and has remained mostly quiet. That could be because he's still healing a few nagging injuries and isn't sure if he'll be ready by early February.
Naturally, this has prompted yet another outburst from Sonnen:
"Anderson, you've got 24 hours to accept my offer. I suggest you take it, my next one won't be quite so nice."
Hell hath no fury like Chael Sonnen scorned.
Now that the Republican rabble-rouser is getting impatient with Silva’s lack of attention to his challenge, we can certainly expect business to pick up.
But should Silva respond at all?
After all, he already rid of Sonnen once, defeating him via triangle choke at UFC 117 back in Aug. 2010. What's the need to do it again?
And what could Sonnen have in mind if Silva doesn't answer the call? Any ideas?
