Dana White: Brock Lesnar will never wrestle for the WWE while he's under contract to me (Video)

"Brock Lesnar will never wrestle for the WWE while he's under contract to me. But to be in their video game? That's part of his history. He came from the WWE. I brought Brock Lesnar into the UFC, guy had one fight. He was 1-0. The WWE built him up into the star that he was and for me to go back and now say 'No, he's mine,' I don't care about that. It doesn't affect me or my business personally and it helps my athlete."

Dana White talks about former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar, who will fight Alistair Overeem in the main event of UFC 141 on Dec. 30 in Las Vegas, Nevada, shortly after returning to the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) roster as a hidden playable character in the upcoming WWE '12 video game from THQ, which drops Nov. 22 of this year. Does anyone think a UFC fighter not named Lesnar would get the same degree of merchandising leniency?

Why the hate? Dude is a top 5 HW.. And it’s amazing to watch his physical abilities make up for his short career/training in mma

probably true

You have a very limited shelflife in combat sports, not every one can be a bernard Hopkins or Randy Couture, so if he fancies some big bucks into his twilight years he can do pro rasslin again. Hell look at Ric Flair, he’s 92 years old and still going strong wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

who wins?

Who wins? wwe, brock, UFC

Who loses? no one. It was a no brainer.

It's funny to me

How many MMA fans will shit on this due to WWE being in the title yet some of their favorite fighters were or are giant wrestling fans. Their roots are lied intertwined from Japan to North America. anywho

Without the WWE and what they made Lesnar he’d be a quarter of the value to the UFC. This is why Dana White is agood person in more ways then bad, he knows without the WWE his biggest cash cow at the ppv box office wouldn’t be.

GSP is…

he is not even comparable to GSP

GSP has headlined and defended his title more times than brock has even fought in the ufc..dana white said himself gsp is by far the biggest ppv draw

overall gsp has sold more ppvs but

per event brock kicks his ass. sorry but deal wih it.

ufc 100 brock main event 1.6 mil
ufc 121 " " 1.1mil
ufc 116 " " 1.2mil

what has gsp done?

by gsot fan on Oct 13, 2011 12:01 PM EDT up reply actions

haha u named 3 cards

Now do the numbers on the cards gsp headlined..its clear you have no idea about this topic I won’t even entertain it any further

are you a retard or just stupid.

i said on average brock kills gsp. if you add up the cards that brock headlined and get an average, do the same for gsp ( i will give you 100 even though gsp was co-main ) and brock fucking kills gsp.

brock on avearge kills gsp idiot.

by gsot fan on Oct 13, 2011 12:16 PM EDT up reply actions

I would look in the mirror if I were you and then you will find the retard

GSP fought at UFC 100

Brock only got paid $400K for his win
GSP got $400K + $200K win bonus

GSP “on average” makes more than Brock. So do his cards.

hairy what the fuck are you talkin about?

the arguement is about ppv buys not wages.

so who’s the retard now dipshit.

by gsot fan on Oct 13, 2011 12:26 PM EDT up reply actions

Apparently I am

The reason why Brock was, and keyword is WAS, the PPV champ is because he was a freak and people just wanted to see him get his ass kicked. The caliber of fighters, or at least the threat of losing, was higher for him rather than those fighters GSP fought.

Watch what Brock’s PPV numbers will be going forward. Certainly nowhere near what they were. I will bet anybody that after his next fight (which may be his last), if he were to continue then the PPV numbers will be much less.

Really, who wanted to see GSP fight Kos, Hardy, or Shields?? That was the main reason the PPV numbers were lower.

by hairybumcrack on Oct 13, 2011 12:39 PM EDT up reply actions

brock's 6 fight ppv average 1million ppv buys.

he has a long long way to fall before gsp is a better.

what is gsp ppv average 600k at best.

and if brock beats a beast like overeem his ppv juggernaut will continue.

by gsot fan on Oct 13, 2011 12:44 PM EDT up reply actions

he can come into the fight all he wants

just don’t call me a retard when what i am saying is correct.

by gsot fan on Oct 13, 2011 12:45 PM EDT up reply actions

its no fight

Dana white has already cleared up any confusion for people who don’t understand how ppv numbers and sells and revenue work its just some people still can’t comprehend

Hairybumcrack you are wrong

http://mmajunkie.com/news/15498/ufc-100-fighters-salaries-brock-lesnar-and-georges-st-pierre-top-earners-from-x-x-million-payroll.mma

Both Lesnar and GSP got 400k for UFC 100 the only difference is that Brock was 400k win or lose and GSP was 200k to show 200k to win and since he won he got 400k total.

Almost every UFC contract is _ amount of money to show and __ amount of money to win and that’s why you’ll notice every win bonus is half of the total salary like Jon Fitch is 45k to show and another 45k to win.

That is twice today – need to read better as I saw that too

Never say never Dana

I’m sure Vinnie Mac would pay VERY handsomely for lesnars services for a one month feud leading up to Wrestlemania to break the Takers streak.

Plus lesnar could wear a UFC T-shirt on every appearance for free publicity.

by attakdog on Oct 13, 2011 11:42 AM EDT reply actions

yes, money talks

But wrestling injures, and uncle Dana won’t a long term disability

by ~Peregrine on Oct 13, 2011 11:57 AM EDT via mobile up reply actions

He'd only have to wrestle one match, the build up he can just do promos, the occasional run in and interfere

The state the takers knees are in nowadays, he aint gonna be flinging Lesnar round very much either.

by attakdog on Oct 13, 2011 11:59 AM EDT up reply actions

money does talk but not how you think it does...

The way Dana sees it it would cost the UFC money in the long run to let Brock fight in WWE.
Is Vince going to cough up a 100+ mil?

yes....we do

contracts can be broken / changed by mutual agreement.

Hold up...

Does Dana even have the contractual right to do this? WWE is not real combat, its entertainment, no different than a movie, except its delivered through a different medium. I’m curious if his contract language actually forbids it. I’m sick of Dana trying having his hand up every ufc fighter’s ass…UFC fighter’s union, or something better come along very soon. Alot of people out there are fans of the UFC INSPITE of Dana, and idiot rogan…the sport has outgrown them!!!!!

by LBCMMAFAN on Oct 13, 2011 4:19 PM EDT reply actions

i enjoy listening to dana because he is ultimately a fan and he seems really really cool and kind

but this was not the toon he was singing from 05-08, (ancilliary rights)

I think it has to with when you get to a cetain point in terms of success you can afford to overlook certain things
