Despite coming off a loss to Jim Miller at the "St. Pierre vs Koscheck" event last December, UFC lightweight Charles Oliveira has signed a four fight extension with Zuffa, according to the Houston MMA Examiner. The dynamic young fighter commented on the new deal:
"I am very happy about the extension. They have been cutting so many 155 pounders, I am very blessed to have a job for 2011."
With a new deal in place, who should "do Bronx" take on now after suffering his first career loss?

The Kid is very young and talented in all aspects. They should groom him like they did with John Jones .... build him up slowly dont just throw him in with the best right now... let him develop then give him top five fighters.

Yep, most of the suggestions so far in the thread are way too tough and highly-ranked guys. He just faced a great opponent in Miller and lost, so they should give him someone easier now. And as you said he’s only like 21 years old, there’s no need to rush him into super tough fights right away.

I hate the way Jones has been brought up. Find out where the guy stands in the division. Fighting the best makes you better, win or lose.

He just fought Miller, and lost. Reason says he gets an easier opponent next fight. That’s the way it’s done, except maybe if a guy is really high-profile, or if they want to get rid of him.

i thought before the miller fight and the guida/gomi fight that this would be a great matchup. Striking would be fairly even and if it goes to the ground you have one guy whos very hard to sub in guida but you also have a guy who wont just let guida win rounds because of his smothering style of wrestling.
This might not make too much sense now with the oliveria loss and guida win but its still a fight id love to see

he should fight a loser of a fight to see who gets back to winning and who extends his losing streak.
they need to use methods like that to eliminate fighters from the organization and not just randomly cut ppl left and right whenever they feel like.

Joe Silva’s matchmaking got the best of him. He got thrown in against one of the best lightweights in the world. If it wasn’t the kneebar, it would have been something in the next 13 minutes, or at best a one-sided 30-27. He just flat-out wasn’t ready for a guy like Miller.
