Daniel Roberts announced (via his Facebook page) that he will be taking on hometown boy Claude Patrick when the UFC hits Toronto for the first time on April 30 at the Rogers Centre for UFC 129.
Roberts brought his act to the big show in March of 2010 sporting an undefeated record of 9-0 with seven submission wins.
John Howard promptly knocked him out in the first round.
It was a minor setback for the Cesar Gracie trained fighter, as he's ripped off three straight since then, including two sweet submission finishes, one of which earned him "Submission of the Night" bonus at the mega-show that was UFC 121.
"Ninja" will have to be swift though, because his opponent also specializes in forcing his competitors to tap.
Claude Patrick is currently the TFC Canadian MMA welterweight champion and will be fighting in his home country for the thirteenth time in 15 career fights.
In fact, one of his two trips outside of Canada consisted of a fight in my hometown of Moline, Illinois where he submitted Ray Steinbess in the very first round.
"The Prince" hasn't lost since 2002 with 12 straight wins including starting his UFC career with two victories over Ricardo Funch and James Wilks.
Can he make it to lucky number 13?
UFC 129 is scheduled to go down on April 30 as the promotion's debut show in Toronto and will feature one of the company's biggest acts as Georges St. Pierre will defend his welterweight strap against Jake Shields.
Randy Couture vs Lyoto Machida is also in the works as another feature fight of the evening.
