Despite having lost four of his last five fights, electrifying lightweight Jorge Gurgel has signed a new five-fight deal with Strikeforce and he is expected to make his return to the cage in March, although no opponent is known at this time, according to FiveOuncesofPain.com.

Some guys just transition badly from their chosen martial art to mma. Gurgel could arguably fall into this category, he doesn’t even try to take his bouts to the mat.
i feel is jits is good but his wrestling isnt

i agree that his jits is good, his wrestling isnt the worst ive seen, but thats all besides the point. he has to be willing to fight on the ground in order to actually realise he can win fights against reasonable opposition, and thats the problem.
having said that there are some other bjj brown and black belts who i have yet to see utilise good technique on the floor in an mma matchup. bjj becomes a different game to some when you throw in the fact that someone is allowed to punch you in the face.
either way his record doesnt lie. 5 losses in a row mean its not working for him.
His BJJ doesn't translate well
I remember him getting dominated on the ground by Alvin Robinsin and Cole Miller submitting him. Gurgel doesn’t do to well no gi. Just loose armbars.

what a lot of pople don't realise about gurgel is he has a great bjj ground game but he chooses to stay on his feet

Yup, our humor may be a bit dry
But sometimes it’s funny to beat a dead horse!

yea till he fought kj and made it till bout 14 seconds into the 2nd round...that beating didnt last very long
gsp cheated...he was greasing
He just about got knocked out
About 1 millisecond after the first round ended. So, he can take a beating alright, not many men get knocked out twice in a fight!
by Thunder Biscuit on Jan 6, 2011 10:17 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
but most men can recover if given a full minute to do so..but he doesnt even remember that punch...he doesnt even remember the full 14 seconds of the 2nd round...i dont think he even remembers that fight at all
SHAD GONNA RAPE SHOGUN YOU FUCKING CUNT LORDS
Yeah, he got rattled hard and often.
No wonder he doesn’t remember. I would be happy if I could still eat solid food after that!

who?
what you mean who? andy received the most strikes in ufc history…over 300…and was still able to pull off a sub…
brock received one of the worst beatdowns in ufc heavyweight history by carwin and was able to come out and submit carwin in the 2nd round…
plenty of people survive getting completely raped and then recover between rounds and come back and win…

Ask Pete Spratt when he fought Matt Brown!
Thanks to Adelaide Byrd and Tony Weeks, Webster has a new word for highway robbery -- "Nam Phan."

"There's a few very good judges surrounded by a bunch of incompetent morons, who know nothing about the sport. They need to do something about that, because it's ruining MMA. It's making people think that this sport is corrupt. It has nothing to do with corruption. It's sheer and total incompetence."
Joe Rogan speaking the truth. Sort the judging out now.

Use your jits! Use your jits! mofo
Conan : You are known as a striker. Is that correct? Tell me what that means.
Chuck : Well I like to punch people, or kick them.
If he did that,
then the ones who bitch about GSP and Edgar not standing and banging and getting punched in the face would be on his case.

Trust me dude,
if GSP was American he would be the most exciting fighter on the planet lol! Just for your info, Edgar does alot of standup, he goes to the mat very rarely. he will take you down if he thinks he needs the points but Edgars last few fights Sherk, Penn, Maynard all standup, basically.
I agree, I do not need the info,
I was refering to those who say that all Frankie does and is good at is running away and avoid fighting, and just making his opponents chase after him.
