Heavyweight wrecking machine Shane Carwin turned 36 on Jan. 4 and celebrated his birthday with a sweet potato cake that marked the beginning of a new diet that he hopes will help him overcome the final hurdle in his quest for UFC gold -- his conditioning. From his blog:
"I have changed my diet and I am going to do my best to eat organically and use food as the prime nourishment for my body. I am cutting back on all of the supplements and I hope to weigh in around 265 without having to cut leading to the fight. No post fight IV and no stress or strain on the body."
Anyone think "The Engineer" will wear the heavyweight strap in the near future as a result of these changes?

no he wont because he sucks almost as bad as brock
If you dont like drugs then dont do them.....give them to me!
no he wont because he sucks almost as bad as brock
Yeah he sucks as bas as the consensus #2 HW in the world LOL

Real people make the consensus and no you don't have to agree
Fact is though most MMA fans think Brock is a top five in the UFC at least and top ten in the world regardless Khoas’s statement is retarded.

eh
Brock has no striking and just relies on Brute force double legs.
Carwin has great takedown defense, great power with decent technique and some submissions to his win record.
He’s much more well rounded than Brock.
"One should always be cold minded and remember that a ridiculous incident may occur any time."
AND...
He can take a punch and not freak out! I’ve thought that if Carwin can put his cardio together and continue to improve in all areas he has a great chance at getting the belt.
If Carwin can improve his conditioning significantly and maybe add a bit of a submission defense game he can do very well in the ufc.
The sub defense will come with cardio...
The head and arm choke that Brock used requires little technique, when a brute like Brock is applying it. If he wasn’t so gassed out, he would’ve easily had the strength to not get put into that hold in the first place. You can’t use that single submission loss to say he doesn’t have any sub defense.

he went undefeated to a UFC title fight and almost won! he sucks?
I hate Fedor. I probably hate you too, but not as much as Fedor.
I wish Chael Sonnen was my uncle.
Since when did Mir defeat Carwin?

He gots a good shot but i don’t see any one dethroning Cain Untill his 3rd or 4th defense who ever it maybe I’ll decide then
by malito3og3 on Jan 5, 2011 8:40 PM EST via mobile reply actions
Why is everyone overlooking JDS?
Cain may not make it through his 1st defense. If Kongo can come that close to beating him, JDS and Carwin have a great chance at putting him away
"The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits."-Albert Einstein
Everybody is beatable and if Carwin hits you most likely your going down not everyone has Brocks chin.
"I felt like I was getting raped by Freddy Mercury"-Tank on losing to Dan Severn
Exactly
If Carwin touches Cain the way he did Brock, it’s lights out. I would even say the same if Junior hits him
"The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits."-Albert Einstein
I almost agree,
but the shots that Cain took from Kongo were really hard, and he’s a former pro kickboxer. I’d say he probably hits just as hard as Shane. The big difference there though, is that Kongo’s TD defense against a good wrestler is zero. Cain was able to get the fight to the ground immediately after getting hit, which allowed him to recover. If Carwin tags Cain the way that Kongo did, Cain will go for a wobbly double, fail at it, and then we’ll see where he ends up. As far as JDS goes, I’ve got Cain winning that one.

Im not over looking jds he has more the a chance but I saw holes n his game against Nelson jus like we saw Cain overcome Kongo but u can’t deny rocked or not Cain destroyed Kongo and could easily do it again jds and Nelson is a rematch I’m looking forward to had it been 5rds I think Nelson would took it
by malito3og3 on Jan 5, 2011 9:08 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
What holes in his game?
The fact that he couldn’t know BC out? That’s because Nelson has an iron chin with a thick layer of blubber covering it. And you could have given them 10 rounds but Nelson wasn’t gonna win that one.
"The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits."-Albert Einstein
*knock BC out
"The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits."-Albert Einstein
As the fight went on he slowed down tremendously with his hands lower and took more shots than normal. Against cc we saw him n the later rounds unlike his previous bouts he jus ktfo everyone but watch his fight as the end of the 2nd and 3rd he wasn’t as accurate as he’s always been he did great stoping the td and standing with Nelson and given nelsons a hella fighter and is a force to be reckoned with Nelson would took the fight had it gone into the 4th or 5th
by malito3og3 on Jan 5, 2011 9:25 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
Yes JDS slowed down
But so did Country. Nelson had absolutely nothing left. If the fight went on any longer Nelson may have collapsed from exhaustion. And as far as Juniors next fight goes, Im sure he’s been working on his cardio. I agree that JDS is not a perfect fighter, but no way Nelson would have won that fight unless he landed a lucky punch. A very hard lucky punch and I seriously doubt that would have happened

Has anybody heard
What Carwin’s timeline is for returning from his injury and fighting again?

any news on who he will be fighting?
Thanks to Adelaide Byrd and Tony Weeks, Webster has a new word for highway robbery -- "Nam Phan."
cool
I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Toronto at the end of April :)
If JDS takes on Carwin before he gets his title shot against Cain, then he truly has big giant shiny balls of steel.

I dont think he’ll be back by then but with his new diet and training he just might
by malito3og3 on Jan 5, 2011 9:09 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
Nice.

He could easily be champ now that cain is gone.
I think he should drop a little muscle too but that’s just my thought.
"One should always be cold minded and remember that a ridiculous incident may occur any time."
well whatever helps his cardio
I think I’d rather get hit by a car than get hit by Carwin.
Frank Mir just woke up like 10 minutes ago.

LOL
Carwins a tank. he was knocking fools out with out cardio and now he will have it. scary time to be in the UFC heavyweight devision.
Him vs. Big Nog lets go
As a long time fan of Big Nog...
I ask that you please don’t suggest that ever again. Nog would seriously probably be dead. Plus I don’t want to have to root against Shane. He’s my favorite contender.

If Cain seriously tore a rotor cuff..
His days as champion are coming to an end.
That’s pretty serious problem for anyone, especially someone who depends on swinging punches. KO power is no more in that arm.
Carwin has a chance, and cutting weight would be a great thing, I would like to see him at even 255… I believe he was at that before.
And too put Brock in the top 5 is possible, he has all the tools he just needs to use them. I can’t think of many that truely stand in his way (other then the obvious)
Sonnen and Bisping = Pillow hands. The KO power of a paraplegic.
Jake Shields is the abortion of MMA. GSP would murder that clown.
--I did a lot of talking, but Brock Lesnar didn't back it up for me.--
Cain will need full surgery,
he has a 90% tear and he will be out a year minimum my bet… Im sure he’s going to excersise it religiously once he recovers from therapy, but it’s most likely never going to be quite the same,
Banned from be because of my ‘reputation’. That’s shitty, no one go using ‘danago’ anywhere.

Mixed Bag
I like Carwin, but I was prepared to get on the Big Country War Wagon prior to his pullout. I hope he gets back in there soon against a relevant opponent and not some tune up fight.
