i wonder how much does showtime pays for the airing rights
there’s not a lot of margin between fighers’ pay and gate so maybe showtime pays for the arena and stuff?
Anyone else notice how much more Showtime is involved in SF?
Before we know it, it won’t be Strikeforce anymore but Showtime MMA Fights
Facebook is for gays!!
From left
Hottest,4th, second, third
Only I would be dumb enough to pick a guy who couldn’t even beat his own wife in a fight agaisn’t a world class fighter like Nick Diaz.
first one from left to right
love me some dark straight hair
$533,215 gate - $439,500 fighters salary = $93,715
to pay location costs, insurance, employee salaries, etc.
I really want to know how much Showtime kicks into the mix. It seems to me that SF is bleeding money unless they are getting a huge, read $250,000+ boost, from Showtime.

They are not bleeding. Showtime gives them $300k-700K per event. They also hosted the event at the HP Pavilion, which they own.

You lost me.
The HP Pavilion is owned by the City of San Jose and I can find nothing linking Showtime to the Management company, San Jose Sports and Entertainment Enterprises.
What am I missing?

You are not missing it...
City of Sj does own The Shark Tank.
But SF gets plenty form Showtime, and plenty in concessions, and plenty in sponsarships.
This was a successful, sold out event.
Does anybody know what UFC makes?
Id like to see a comparison.

both are private companies
there is no way to know for sure. We could do a quick side-by-side based upon gate revenue versus fighters pay, but that leaves out so many variables, it is not worth it.

UFC makes $2mm per event times 20 events a year = $40mm annually
SF makes $500,000 per event times 8 events a year = $4mm annually.
anything more detailed than that equals pure guess (which mine is as well)
;)

Stikeforce revenue
From an article at a small buisness website on strikeforce.
The one-story, bluish-gray office building on San Jose’s Lincoln Avenue is unassuming and easy to miss — it is tucked behind a martial arts studio, has no signs, and looks like a storage garage.
But inside the former hay barn is the headquarters of Strikeforce, a professional cage-fighting league that has grown rapidly in recent years with more contests, television deals and an expanding roster of fighters.
Strikeforce, 50 percent owned by San Jose Sharks owner Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment, is on pace to post up to $30 million in revenue in the fiscal year ending this June, said …

Anyone who cries about UFC being better than Strikeforce
Is a whiny fucking idiot and obviously not a true fan of the sport. Grow the fuck up, stop going balls deep on the UFC for enough time to possibly realize that you are just another fucking fanboy on the internet.
I suppose McDonalds makes the best hamburgers in the world because they sell the most right? Fuck off.

Weird post.
I can’t like the UFC better than Strikeforce? And we’re the idiots?
