So glad Tim got KOed...

did you hear his interview before this fight talking about his road back to the big leagues and callling Paul Buentello a “top 10 HW”! Buentello isn’t even top 20 on any list. Who the fuck is he kidding? Just goes to show how full of shit some fighters are.

So Coker thinks that because they're making his HWs fight 3 times this year and making the best in SF fight the best means the winner of it all will be the top HW in the world? lol Welcome to the UFC where everybody who isn't injured fights the best 3 times a year. Fedor hadn't proven he was the best in years but kept the #1 spot for the longevity of his Pride days until the big 4 in the UFCs HW division fought each other so as it stands right now Cain is the top HW in the world no matter what the outcome of this tourney is. If JDS beats Cain then he's #1 cause he already destroyed Werdum who embarrassed Fedor. It's not like Fedor has beaten anybody ranked above JDS in years so the rankings are finally justified.

I agree terrible ref. Should have let it go on but looks like he accidentally stopped the fight and was committed already so had to end it

Refs are human.

We shouldn’t be too hard on them when one is less than perfect. In this case, no harm done because the fight was really over for Sylvia. Then you think about Frankie Edgar and you’re not so sure anymore it truly was over.

Timmay! Do you even care anymore?

That striking defence was straight out of Brock Lesnar’s latest book: “Blocking Punches with my face”.

WTF? Seriously? You lost to a guy named Abe! What’s next? You gonna fight a guy named Keith and get KO’d too? Man, I’ve always defended your accomplishments Timmay, but this was pathetic. Did you show up to the fight looking like that beacuase you just came came from a movie where you were a body double for Kirstie Alley?

Damn.

dude WTF...seriously...i saw randy knock this big fuck all the way across the octagon and then get his face pounded in and he survived

i mean wtf…..tim got sent ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE OCTAGON with that punch from randy and was able to survive cause the ref didnt just jump in like a bitch…

i saw nothing in this fight to lead me to believe that this fuck hit timmy harder than randy did….yet that shit was stopped after only like 2 shots…fucking bullshit

Tim wasn't past his prime then.

Not to mention Randy was never a real HW but a LHW and Tim wasn’t out of shape weighin over 300 lbs

So Coker thinks that because they're making his HWs fight 3 times this year and making the best in SF fight the best means the winner of it all will be the top HW in the world? lol Welcome to the UFC where everybody who isn't injured fights the best 3 times a year. Maybe the punches werent the reason he fell face first. IT WAS HIS GUT OVERBALANCING HIM.

by Jimbobb on Jan 29, 2011 2:10 AM EST up reply actions

That's funny

I noticed he had to push off his knee with his hand to get back to his feet. I’m thinking the weight is a result of his efforts to establish the stereotypical “cop physique”. He’s doing quite well in that regard.

by The real Philo on Jan 29, 2011 8:43 AM EST up reply actions

none of that matters...im talking about the 1 shot randy landed at the beginning of the 1st round that sent sylvia across the cage and randy jumped on him

that fucking shot by randy is 3 times worse than anything that this fucker through in this fight…that ref must have had money on this dude…tim is a former world champ who has faced the best in the world…guys like fedor and randy amongst others…that shot fedor dropped him with would have ended the night of 90% of most fighters…but the ref in that fight allowed him a chance to recover and try to defend himself long enough for fedor to sink in the choke to end the fight…

refs in these shitty organizations stop shit cause they have no idea wtf is going on..they think if a fighter takes a solid shot that there is absolutely no way he can recover….how many times in the ufc have we seen a fighter get knocked on queer street and not know where he is but be able to pull guard and gather his wits and be able to continue the fight? and the refs know this shit…thats why they dont stop a fight the first second that a fighter seems dazed, they give the guy time to recover and gather himself….and they stop it once that its obvious that the fighter has no chance of recovering whatsoever…

if getting rocked automatically meant a fight stoppage then pretty much every jits guy would have a losing record

SHAD GONNA RAPE SHOGUN YOU FUCKING CUNT LORDS

by HellaHectic on Jan 29, 2011 2:16 AM EST up reply actions

yes it does matter.... lol

so how can you say that being past your prime and out of shape doesn’t reflect on how punches can be taken? Also, I wouldn’t say Randy’s punch was harder than Abe’s and just because he took a couple steps back (not across the cage) doesn’t mean that punch was harder… that may have something to do with footing my friend. Plus Abe’s was a couter strike which Randy’s wasn’t.

So Coker thinks that because they're making his HWs fight 3 times this year and making the best in SF fight the best means the winner of it all will be the top HW in the world? lol Welcome to the UFC where everybody who isn't injured fights the best 3 times a year. there is no doubt

that Randys hit was much harder. It was an over hand right which he put some serious torq on it. And it landed flush. Not even close to this running at Tim while flailing punches. Much different punch.

First of all the Randy punch was not expected.

Second of all look at all his fights fedor, randy, aa, mercer – it seems like he cant see that overhand coming. But unlike randy those guys started landing clean on him soon after as opposed to pin him to the cage and punch his arms a bit. Randy doesnt have finishing skills.

Hilarious

Tom should just retire right now, how anyone can talk about working towards a world title only to show up for a fight over 300lbs with a flabby belly us beyond me. Good for Abe he actually took this fight seriously and beat a once good fighter.

The ref may have not known what he was doing but he stopped the fight at the right time, Sylvia was done and if you flair flop to the ground and can’t stand obvious feet on your own then it’d be negligent to let you continue fighting. Ref shouldn’t have hesitated though.

First Of All

Abe Wagner is no joke. He is a pretty good fighter that probably should have gotten a shot in the UFC. Also, Tim was out of shape. He clearly looked past Wagner thinking he would get a bigger name after this win. He would have been on a five fight win streak and knocking on a big promotions door.

Now, understand this. Tim wanted to stand in the pocket and trade which to me means he didnt respect Abe’s hands. He was caught with some good power and back peddled much like Arlovski vs Brett Rogers.

And about the ref, he did an AWESOME job stopping the fight. Tim was belly down face down defenseless. The ref saved him from taking unneccessary shots. He was done, he was out. Just because he jumps up and looks fine doesnt mean he is.

All in all, it just shoes that Tim above 300 is unfocused. If he ever wants to poke his head into legitimacy again he will need to revamp his camp, diet and mentality

agree for the most part

The problem I had with the ref was. Stopping the fight and then trying to change his mind. There is zero room for mistakes like that. Stopping the fight and then trying to immediately resuming can be dangerous and unfair to the fighters.

Fair point

But if a ref can’t be decisive and make instant decisions then he has no business being there. When the health if a fighter is in your hands as well as their career and wages then you have to be able to do your job and this ref showed too much hesitancy for my liking.

What?

He was trying to get back to his feet. Any top ref would have let Tim take a few punches to see if he gets back to his feet. If he’s out and shows no attempt to get back to his feet etc then the fight would be stopped. Like when Carwin smashed Brock, the ref let Brock continue.. This ref would have stopped it, and Carwin would be champ.

The same things annoy me about MMA. And it’s laughable that fans seem to expect refs to only stop fights when a guy is out cold. You have to take better care of the fighters for that unless you want them to leave the sport brain damaged.

Dana must be laughing (or not giving a fuck, either or) It is time to hang up the gloves Tim, thanks for the memories early in your UFC career, especially knocking out Trey Taligman with a head kick and Ricco through some sick ground n pound.

worst ref stoppage this year

Cmon ref, wtf were you thinking. I’m glad I wasn’t in the audience. I would’ve wanted a refund.
