The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 13 filming starts today (Jan. 24) for Brock Lesnar vs Junior dos Santos

Lesnar-dossantos-f_medium

Friendly reminder for all you TUF guys and gals.

Filming started today in Las Vegas for what should be the most commercially successful installment of the show to date, as Brock Lesnar will coach against Junior dos Santos for season 13 of The Ultimate Fighter.

It may have taken the UFC up to the final hour to make it happen, but they somehow managed to persuade the pasty and reclusive Lesnar to appear on the popular Spike reality television show.

They also convinced "JDS" to put his number one contender spot for the heavyweight title on the line by accepting what could be a tough match-up. No date or venue for the contest has been named but an announcement is expected in the coming weeks.

Questions abound regarding the show, including what coaches each fighter will choose, how an entire season can work with a Brazilian that speaks extremely broken English and whether or not this entire thing is a scam (Roy Nelson's words, not mine).

The season is set to debut March 30 on Spike TV, so tune in to find out.

So will this be on the free card???

It says they will settle score at the finale so I was just wondering. Anvody know? I would think Dana “it’s good to be” White would put this on PPV

The coaches never fight on the TUF final event.

It will happen on PPV no doubt.

For the #1 contender spot

Cain’s out, JDS didn’t want to wait and no one else deserves a shot at the title besides JDS so no title on the line!

surprisingly exciting! Poor bears just lost his chance at ot in the final minute or so. Will definitely watch next season if all games are nearly like that one

Of course it will be on ppv.

If Brock doesn’t finish the season and ends up being in wrestlemania it will be an uncle Dana scam to squeeze as much money out of Brock that he can. Not saying its guna happen but wouldn’t surprise me either.

by p rock on Jan 24, 2011 2:55 PM EST via mobile reply actions

he wont be doing Wrestlemania!!

no offense to you “p rock”, im just tired of seeing ppl talk about this wrestlemania crap. he wont be doing it; its not legal because he’s still under contract with UFC. how long was Couture tied up in legal battles for trying to leave and do other things? more than a year. maybe Brock can do it in 2013 but that’d be a stretch too. uncle Dana would slap on a cease and desist so quickly.

What if...

Brock calls it quits and retires. And Uncle Dana lets him out of his contract?

So many variables that no one can predict the future of Brock.

Expect those who predict Brock getting embarassed for the third time in a row. That you can count on if Brock makes it to that fighrt

And that goes for any fighter, and it is not a FACT brock would get embarrassed for a third time in a row just your biased opinion.

Since it’s considered entertainment and not a sport, I wouldn’t be surprised if lawyers right now are finding a way to gape that loophole.

Brock cant take a punch to the face. What’s JDS’ specialty? Murderballs to the face! All Brock has is a double leg and JDS is young, athletic and explosive. He’s getting up and hes going to connect. If, Brock even shows. He might get “hurt” training.

by sir.tickleberry on Jan 24, 2011 4:34 PM EST up reply actions

Staged Drama?

What a re you talking about.

It’s new every single season.

A coach never breaks a door.

The fighters never go stir crazy in the house

Nobody ever fucks with someone’s food

The fighters never complain when someone on their team befriends someone on the other team and they never “Have a little talk” about team unity.

The worst fighter nevr complains about getting no credit…right before he shows why he gets no credit and loses bad in a set up against the other teams ace.

The coach never “almost” come to blows over some sort of communication gap or perceived slight

Dana never swears

Dana never tells the fighters that they need to “leave it all in the cage” then gives someone a second chance in as an injury replacement.

No fighter ever tells his sb story about how his friend/wife/kid/parents or girlfriend just died, fought their way out of a sickness/ or is currently sick. The fighter nevr dedicates the fight to this person…and then loses.

A losing fighter never says that this is “All they know how to do” and that we will hear from them again. We never do…really we NEVER hear form THAT guy again.

See the is plenty of new ground for them to cover in an “∞th” season of the same show.

Heidi Llum said about her reality show (and yeah I watch Heidi Klum interviews…she speaks…I watch…automatic), " Same shit, new people"

Whenever it comes to Good striker Vs a good wrestler...

I tend to pick the wrestler, and still pick Brock in this fight, but am not 100% sure of my pick, not cause the Brock reacts to being hit, but one of Brock’s strength has been how fast he has been learning the game and he now he needs to get used to hitting in the face, with TUF filming, I’m not sure how exactly it will effect his camp and his mindset leading up to the fight… Post Cain fight he went hunting and now this, wondering if he will have a good enough camp!

All said and done kudos to Brock for opting to fight another good striker after what he went through with Carwin & Cain. Brock’s management could have pulled a Fedor and made him fight some mid-tier fighter to build him up again…

by PnP on Jan 24, 2011 3:55 PM EST reply actions

theres still going to be plenty of time between filming

and the finale…filming starts now and theyre usually in the house for 6 weeks to 2 months i believe…even if theyre done filming at the end of march, the finale isnt until june 4th and the lesnar-dos santos ppv will probably be a week or two later…brock and jds will both have time for a full camp

He was a decent draw

WWE lost a lot of fans from 02-04 as their stars like Rock and Austin retired but Brock got a massive push and did some decent numbers. WWE really suffered when he left, the new posterboys Cena and Batista never did as well as Brock and ratings and PPV numbers have continued to slide.

JDS will beat Lesnar within 3 minutes of round 1.

Lesnar has shown he has no stomach for being hit in the head and that is what JDS does best. Lesnar hasn’t been able to take anyone down for more than a second in his last two fights and JDS has good take down defence. All-in-all a very bad fight for Brock and no matter how i look at it, he is going home with an L by his name. My predicition is tap out due to strikes. The bubble has burst for Mr lesnar and the real fighters are standing up.
