Quoteworthy:
"If I think something, but if I have nothing good to speak, I would rather shut up. I think I have the right to choose who prepares me because loyalty and respect I had. I spoke in front of him that I wouldn't like to continue with his view but he took it to the personal side, but what he said doesn't match with the truth. He is badly informed, Mike Tyson never trained me. I don't know where that came from. Life is made of choices. I did mine and he did his."
In advance of his middleweight title shot against Anderson Silva at UFC 126 in Las Vegas, Vitor Belfort is steady deflecting criticism from all sides, in this case his former trainer Shawn Tompkins. The former Xtreme Couture coach proclaimed "The Phenom" to be a disloyal vagabond who only wants to do what's popular and not what's best. Now it's Belfort's turn to respond and the flashy former champion says Tompkins isn't being truthful and he's badly informed on who he is training with for this megafight against "The Spider." Anyone think we're hearing a little too much about who's coaching Vitor and not enough about how he's going to win the 185-pound strap?
