While Thiago Silva was open-handed slapping Brandon Vera last night (Jan. 1) at UFC 125, light-heavyweight prospect Jon Jones tweeted the following: "Wow that slapping was so disrespectful.. id love to give him a slap in the face."
Anybody else salivating at the idea of a "Bones" vs Silva rivalry?

Id like to see it
i think bones would finish him. Especially after seeing Vera winning the stand up last night

jones would destroy silva no contest
silvas in the 2nd tier with ur franklins, griffins, lil nogs, soon to be baders etc
"whats the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his shidoshi?"
I dont know man
Silva’s only losses were Machida and Rashad right? Nothing to frown upon. And let’s not count out Bader just yet

I'm really not buying the Jones hype
I think he’d lose against Thiago, and probably will against Bader.
yo no quiero hacer mas nada
explain what?
how Thiago would fuck his face up? Probably the same way you’d explain to me how Jones would do the opposite, these are opinions brother, take a chill pill and let’s hope they’ll book this after Bader is done with Jones :p
Once Jones starts running through top 10 ranked fighters I might jump onboard, ’till then… not so much…

i actually agree
Jones is a badass for sure. But he still hasnt proven himself against an elite fighter. Bader will be his biggest test so far
"The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits."-Albert Einstein
Jones shouldn't waste time with Silva at this point...
cause if he beats Bader than he should get Rampage and the winner of that gets the winner of Rashad/Shogun.
Coker feels the rankings are unjustified because Werdum beat Fedor so he thinks he should be #1. What he doesn't realize is that Fedor was only considered #1 for the fact that there was no clear cut stand out in the UFC's HW division at that time and with Fedor ducking top competition the rankings still must be set. Someone had to be placed in that #1 spot so because of this and of his longevity he stayed there from his Pride days. The guy had not proved he was still the #1 HW since those days when he's not facing top 5 guys unlike other #1 ranked fighters in their divisions who clean them out.
there's no hype involved.
Jones has won all of his fights and one highly controversial dq loss from worst ref mazzagatti’s decision. hype would be if he beat a big name in his first fights without working his way through, think Lesnar, Jardine, BJ.
"never as bad as they appear during their lowest points, never as good as they seem during their highest ones. the very best then must be not just talented but resilient, not just hungry but focused. their sport demands it."
VLADIMIR MATYUSHENKO oh thats a long name
"whats the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his shidoshi?"
He ran through Vera
Silva decisioned him
MMA Math = Jones > Silva
They both broke something Vera’s nose and face respectively. Not to mention his will

Thiago Silva: “In Brazil to eat sea turtle you slap his shell until the head pops out then club it.”
Sometimes the math doesn't make sense
Machida beat Rashad
Rashad beat Jackson
therefore
Machida should beat Jackson
I don't buy into the Jones hype..
I can see it for myself… it’s obvious he is that good and will be 205lb champion…
I buy it too, but....
I would like to see him against an elite striker. Not that there really are a lot of those in the 205, maybe Machida and of course Rua.
no im chilled i just wanna know ur reasoning
like i said bader is a Kos with a worse shot.He beat glass jaw sardine and beat a over the hill lil nog.Hes a strong wrestler with big power but limited.Look at jones dec Bonnar but who stops Bonnar and absolutely annihilated vera, matyushenko and hamil.I agree they might not be elite but its the manner that he put them away
"whats the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his shidoshi?"
Yeah Bader hasnt really proved much either
Their fight will be a the defining moment in both of their careers
"The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits."-Albert Einstein
again
it’s just opinions, I, for example, don’t think lil’ nog is over the hill, now Bonnar on the other hand…
yo no quiero hacer mas nada
Bonnar never got up the hill ;)
but like i said who finishes him cuts aside
"whats the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his shidoshi?"
fight matrix has bonnar as the 39th LWH in the world. and lil nog as the 15th. clearly a difference.
not that
im saying rankings are everything. but jones competition is hardly second teer opponents, more like third/fourth
“again
it’s just opinions, I, for example, don’t think lil’ nog is over the hill, now Bonnar on the other hand…”
Let me translate : I am Brazilian and Thiago is Brazilian so don’t ask me for specifics because I am rooting for a fellow Brazilian.
So…take a chill pill and let me add a cute emoticon ===> :P

dude, what’s your planet like? If you’ve been living here on Earth you’d realize what you said. You said once Jones starts running through top 10 ranked fighters you might jump onboard? But wait…. Thiago Silva HAS?? Just think about how dumb that comment was. Thiago’s best win was Brandon Vera, who Jones absolutely steamrolled in one round in much more dominating fashion than Silva. As for Bader…. ONE quality win in his entire career and it was against Lil Nog, who has no wrestling and is just a taylor made matchup for Bader. Stop acting like Jones hasn’t proven himself like the others…. your ignorance really showed. Jones via destruction over both of those guys…. because, well, he has looked 10 times more dominant in his fights than the other guys put together.
I think he was saying explain about how Jones is hype.
I think Bader will test Jones and I am really looking forward to that fight.

yeah. I didn't like seeing that during the fight.
Somebody call Thiagos face surgeon and let him to know to keep his schedule open for orbital recontstruction on Mr. Silva sometime this spring.

i didnt like seeing that at all
sportmanship is a big thing for me. But T Silva’s whole “badass” persona he plays isnt doing it for me the cutthroat thing and pointing at jardine when he knocks him out those things were very disrespectful even the cheering he did against Irvin pissed me of . The sole purpose of the slaps were to humiliate Vera and not even to hurt him. I would like seeing Bones put Silva in his place it would be even better if Phil Davis will take revenge for the slaps.

Thiago would have no chance. Once Bones hits him he’ll have no other option but to clinch with jones.. If he tries those sloppy trips with Jones he’ll get thrown around the octagon.

what was disrespectul
was Vera’s pitiful ground game
double standard
Randy spanks Tito it’s cool and funny. Silva plays Donkey Konga on Vera’s back he’s “disrespectful.” Whatever. Jon Jones needs to come down from Mt. Pompous.

no
baders a good fighter, and people have put jones up on a high chair and are all saying how amazing he is, he’s a talented fighter, but i wont count bader out, he’s also a highly talented figher.
yh but Baders a Kos really with a worse shot
Jones has got so much more in the locker
"whats the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his shidoshi?"
also
Matyushenko and vera
not nearlly as impressive as beating
jardine and little nog. i know he only finished one of them, but Matyushenko lost to nog, so he’s below him.
yh but cmon look at Brilz nog(as much as it pains me)is finished
"whats the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his shidoshi?"
i agree, but he had recently
beaten Matyushenko. so Matyushenko is hardly worthy competition for jones. jones didnt want any of veras stand up either, and veras a retard on the ground. i honestly cant pick a winner out of bader/jones i dont think it will be the walkover for jones that everyone thinks it will be.
not really
Vera does have the reputation for talking shit all the time 24/7 and Thiago doesn’t have Randys rep for being a well respected leader in the sport.
I know what YOUR saying… but i think both scenarios are entirley different.
Vera didn’t deserve that kind of salt in his trip out of the UFC.
No Pressure, No Diamonds - Thomas Carlyle
wait so, one guy runs his mouth and gets bitch slapped for it.
what’s different? tito ran his mouth, randy shut him up and bitchslapped him, vera talked some shit on those videos and obviously offended silva.. he paid the price and now will be cut.
i do not get the hype behind bones jones, he’s just another dude who likes to do flashy shit, kind of like vera and after he gets dropped once he will go on a downward spiral and end up being made into some dudes bitch and cut from the ufc

Randy was spanking a guy who talked MAD trash about him and to him. Tito brought him a cane as a gift for after the fight and said he was too old. From what I saw, Vera was very respectful and Thiago’s disrespect was unwarranted. Randy gave Tito a taste of his own medicine whereas Thiago was just a dick.
when has vera ever been respectful loll

The only thing disrespectful
was Vera’a just giving up in the fight, he didn’t do anything on the ground, well only the elbow after Thiago starting taping is back a couple of times
i saw nothing disrespectful in that fight
Vera likes to talk, so Silva shut him up… and what better way then to bitch slap his ass
i disagree, the main event lastnight showed exactly why the bader/jones fight will be good. 2 wrestlers having to stand and fight

I love Silva but
Honestly I think Jon Jones has probably been the uncrowned LHW champion for a year now. He’s dispatched everybody he’s faced easily. The way he handed Hamill’s ass to him was ridiculous.
agree
He will def. be the champion within the next three years
agreed and people say dont believe the hype
i wouldnt mind if he was squeaking past people but hes tooling guys and he will make a mockery of bader mark my words
"whats the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his shidoshi?"
Vera is disrespectful to is fans and to is coaches
by just given up in the fight when they hit the ground, Vera starting slapping him because he hasn’t doing anything both offensive and defensive
well
bones did’nt want any of vera’s stand up either
thiago has always done that stuff
silva is one bad dude what else can you say
Thiago explained he slapped Vera to force him lose his cool. No problem at att with that attitude. Regarding to Jones, yeah, he’s the man many say will be the best ever, badass ever, eff off ever as we’ve seen lots of others. Actually, Thiago is a good man to challenge Jones. I’d love to see it. Close call in my opinion.
www.brasilcombate.com.br
Exactly, it was a technique . . .
however Jones would have tweeted during the fight. Does anyone remember when Randy did it to Tito – that was taking the piss out of Tito. I do not hear Jones saying anything about that . . .
even if it was just him being a dick
I’d still have no problem with it, it’s a fight, I’d think a punch is worse than a slap :p
It was all just psychological
yo no quiero hacer mas nada
A blow used to be harder than a slap lol
Thiago hurt feelings… that fight just proved Vera’s defintely done. Well, he showed good striking but couldn’t stay on his feet so it didn’t work at all.
www.brasilcombate.com.br
Yeah honestly I think the slaps were Thiago trying to show how easily he was dominating him
Maybe he was trying to make a statement. If thats true, he succeeded.
"The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits."-Albert Einstein
i find vera
somewhat a stupid figher. he could easily be good, his standups solid. work on takedown defence and getting off his back and he could be decent.
you mean work on his world class wrestling credentials? shit maybe he should just stop laying down and taking a beating. he didnt even attempt to stop a takedown

by randy murders on Jan 2, 2011 7:14 PM EST up reply actions
I'd love to see this fight...
Because I believe both are 2 of the top 205ers in the world. I think Thiago really did have back problems going into the Rashad fight and still Rashad only won by sneaking a couple of good takedowns in the 1st and 2nd. Bones would be the favorite, but at the sametime I think it would be Bones toughest fight to date.
He's the most disrespectful fighting in the UFC.
Remember that ish with Jardine too?
I’m tired of seeing this angry kid gurning into every camera. He needs bringing down a step, jones is the man, if not him I’ll do it.

Thiago pushes the bully in his personality. More than comes natural.
I guess he forgot about about the Machida fight already. Fuck. I live T.Silva, but his attitude is shit. What about being a professional?

Im all for being respectfull and sportsmanship and all that
But come on its not like he took a piss on him and slapped his mom. Emotions run high in a fight. One of thos emotions is anger. Thiago uses his anger and aggression in his fights. I see nothing wrong with it. In fact, I find it entertaining

Throwing illegal elbows at an opponent, and ignoring the rules established for the organization you work for _
I couldn't agree less
Hamill was done like an overcooked cheesburger. Only Mazagatti couldn’t see that.
doesn't change the fact that he used illegal strikes
though I don’t think he did it with malice nor aware they were illegal as he threw them, and that it should be legal to throw those elbows, but it’s still illegal…
yo no quiero hacer mas nada
Orcus, I agree with you.
I don’t think he did it intentionally knowing they were illegal strikes, however, I do believe that it is something he should have known before going into the fight.
I’m a big Anderson Silva fan, but the illegal kick he threw to Okami (way back when), was also illegal. Silva was winning the fight hands down, but he still violated an important rule.
I don’t think either of those rules should be there. That doesn’t excuse the fact that they were ignored, and ignorance isn’t a good reason. “I’m sorry your honor, I had no idea shooting a man in the face with a loaded gun was illegal.” :)

Is what I’m getting at. Jones was staring at the ref wondering what to do because Hamill was turtling so badly he practically had a pacifier in his mouth.

And then acted like he was sorry in the octagon but filed a protest just days later.

I think thiago did use the slaps to make vera
Lose his cool. But even if he was being a dick so what? At the end of the day he is a fighter and intimidation is a mental advantage over his opponents. He actually reminds me of a young W.Silva. It’s not like he hit Vera after the bell or disrespected him after the win. I’d be frustrated to if I had a year long layoff and my opponent just wanted to hold on and “survive”

thiago has at least faced top 10th opponents twice in his short career. Not only that, he was just this close of putting rashad out but his back problems where a bit much
oh, i forgot my point
point being silva has fought more talent, he sure as hell can take on bones and probably win it. It would be a good match for sure and real eye opener on bones’ level
It wouldnt even be a fight Bones would finish him in round 1

but against elite competition?at least silvas faced some top competitors (evans/machida) he may have lost. but at least he can be judged on how he fought against them. jones hasnt fought anyone yet, bader will be his biggest test, and bader hasnt beaten anyone worhtwhile either.
Vera acts like he eats a hand full of xanax before a fight. Where is the anger? Silva was trying to piss him off so he would actually try to fight.
would you have any anger left if you were boning misses vera everynight?
