This guy is a moron. Not because he wants to fight barack (that's his perogative)

but because this was obviously a dig back at McKee for all the race bullshit he was throwing at him. But he was too much of a cowardly bitch to insult Mckee despite having beat him so he tells us his life story. I mean really who the fuck is thinking about obama in the middle of an mma fight or after it with all the adrenaline/ the pain killers/post fight bs. I hate bitches that can’t be upfront. Either he needs to get his lester on and come at antonio like a klansman or shut he fuck up.

That is ridiculous NNR. He gave specific reasons why he is unhappy with Obama, which had absolutely nothing to do with McKee. You are really reaching there.

Mckee talked mad shit about him so why not take this time to shit on him or put it out there as opposed to going in a circular route. That’s all i am asking for…..not his life story. If you guys think am reaching well….i don’t think so, maybe i am.

Why would he take the time to “shit on him” and be a sore winner? He just won the fight. NNR, you just referred to him as a klansman because he NOT talking racial shit?? Yet you seem to not differentiate between individual black men, equating McKee and Peebo. What’s next? You gonna tell us they all look alike? Please just stop for the sake of civlized debate. Leave that stuff to Lester.

*i said he should either respond like lester aka the klansman not go sideways with hinting at it with

the obama comment. i am saying that that’s what volkman is doing. he’s deflecting his issue with McKee to other shit instead of a direct response back. But i’ll leave it alone. I can’t believe i care this much about Jacob volkman hehe.

Typical villainizing of rich people

Hey, if weren’t for the evil rich you wouldn’t be able to type your ignorance on SB Nation or even have a computer.
The tax cuts were already in place genius. It just makes sense to extend them for everyone, including the evil rich corporations that employ most Americans.
I could go into the basics of how that works but you obviously don’t have the capacity to comprehend such an elementary explanation.
And dude, I’m a registered Independent thats voted for both Dems and Republicans. So your Republican bashing is kind of pointless. It just shows your lack of objectivity.

And when was there ever a special tax cut for the top 2%? WTF are you talking about.

you do realize these aren’t new tax cuts? these are an extension of Bush tax cuts…

America already has one of the most highly uneven tax scales. even if u look at socialist leaning countries like Sweden everyone has high tax rates, including the middle class. America’s $250k plus earners already pay a high tax rate.

Did you know that the top marginal tax rates are lower in Canada than in the U.S.? Your top bracket is 29%, while ours is 35%. So by your logic, your government is giving much more in tax cuts for the wealthy.

It's not free

Single-payer health care is killing Canada’s ability to pay for any other services. It’s running at 10% of our GDP and half of government budgets.

And here’s another fact. If we had two-tier health care, we wouldn’t “force” the rich people in Canada to let us pay for their care.

by unambig on Jan 2, 2011 4:36 PM EST up reply actions

Hi Poot, I have to agree with sittingbull

what you may perceive as Canadians giving the rich more tax cuts is incorrect. You are basing this only on income taxes, and your percentage is incorrect. The 29% is for those who make between $50-90,000. Those who make more pay more than that. Also, their are other forms of taxation that also tip things to greater balance. Canada and other `socialist`countries pay more taxes but people tend to live better, happier lives.

I have American co workers and I get angry over the shit I hear sometimes. Shrinking middle class, no healthcare and decaying public schools. Canada is not perfect either, but I can tell you this, I often look to the US as a country that could provide for all it`s citizens, but doesn`t because the fat cats want more and more money.

And for those of you who all support the rich, for whatever reason, I hope you enjoy taking it with you to the grave. It won`t mean anything then.

No, not nicely written, because it’s 100% wrong. The 29% rate is the highest federal tax rate in Canada. Source: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/fq/txrts-eng.html

So, to sum up, Canada has a lower tax rate on “the rich” than America does. So how can you criticize us for our tax rates on those earning more than 250K?

Times are tough in America but I still wouldn't leave

In America the top 5% richest pay 50% of all taxes paid in the country. I don’t understand where this notion is coming from that rich people aren’t taxed very much. It seems to be the holy grail/hail mary of all political strategies. How do we fix this? How do we fix that? Raise taxes on the rich!!

If you listen to the horseshit that comes out of these peoples’ mouths they try to set up people in that tax bracket as the enemy when the real enemy is the politicians themselves who take money from them as campaign contributions, lobbying, and increasing their taxes. And what do they do with it? Turn right back around and give bailouts as compensation for their incompetent and illegal business practices. All the while increasing the burden of small business owners by mandating healthcare and high unemployment benefits to the point where they cannot afford to hire new employees.

As to your claim of quality of life that’s debatable. If it weren’t for the medical advancements in the United States I would be dead and so would the 4 Canadians who were in the clinic with me years ago.

by Swedish Chef smerdy herdy verdy on Jan 4, 2011 9:54 AM EST up reply actions

“In America the top 5% richest pay 50% of all taxes paid in the country.”

This sounds about right, but they also own a large bulk of the wealth. The idea that the rich ’don’t pay enough’ comes from a comparison of historical tax rates. During the post WW2 years, the top marginal tax rates were 91% (compared to today’s 35%). Since the 70’s it’s been lowered and guess what? America now has the largest wealth disparity in the world.

http://www.obamaftw.com/

by Cecil Cain on Jan 6, 2011 10:27 PM EST up reply actions

Why is disparity of "wealth" an issue?

If you have 1 million dollars and I have 100, what is wrong with that? If you were to get taxed more I wouldn’t get that money, the government would. And what did I do to earn it anyway?

by Swedish Chef smerdy herdy verdy on Jan 7, 2011 10:47 AM EST up reply actions

It's no use. . .

Arguing with whining little people who think they deserve all the privileges of the wealthy without doing anything more than placing a vote. America doesn’t owe you anything, the rich don’t owe you anything, but there is a world of possibility to become whatever you want if you work hard and believe in yourself. THAT is the American dream. Not letting a dictator redistribute the wealth so everyone can have a castle. Research your history, more specifically about the downfalling of prosperous civilizations. The theme is always the same. Greedy and power hungry politicians make a grab for the top seats of the government by promising money, food, shelter, and jobs in exchange for their vote, their loyalty, and ultimately their freedom. Get a clue. . .

by haglnuts on Jan 7, 2011 4:42 PM EST up reply actions

Nice talking points but back to actual economic history. WW2/Post WW2 America was one of higher taxes on the top earners and heavy unionization. The middle/lower classes actually made a living wage. These weren’t handouts (these people worked) and this wasn’t some dictatorship that gave everyone a castle. It was post WW2 America.

by Cecil Cain on Jan 11, 2011 8:36 PM EST up reply actions

Hows that coolaid tasting?

You’re reading the modern (rewritten) history of the progressives. I bet you think FDR saved America from the depression too right? Wrong. What I mentioned above are not talking points, but factual and quanitifiably evidenced history of powerful civilizations. You can argue against truth all you want, but if you fail to learn the facts of the past you will be destined to relive them. . .as you so enthusiastically appear to do so. Welcome to 1984 brother.

by haglnuts on Jan 12, 2011 10:58 AM EST up reply actions

Perhaps I should have made my entire point. The increase in wealth at the top has come partially at the expense of middle/lower class wages. Even though the economy has grown, and Americans work longer/harder, they take home less than they used to. More of those gains have gone to the top 2%. Unions, though by no means perfect, were certainly instrumental in keeping the pie distributed in a fashion whereby the middle/lower class was actually making a living wage.

by Cecil Cain on Jan 11, 2011 8:33 PM EST up reply actions

Unions are good in ideology but hurtful in practice

It’s one of the things that bankrupt American automakers and subsequently led to handouts (although this was not necessary) which increased government spending and subsequently more taxation.

by Swedish Chef smerdy herdy verdy on Jan 12, 2011 12:05 AM EST up reply actions

The Detroit example is an instance of TOO much power given over to unions—I’ll grant you that. But unions are partly what led to America’s middle class. The busting up of unions has magically coincided with an erosion of the middle class which has seen real income drop 12% with virtually all of gains going to the top 2%. This lack of buying power for the middle class is also what’s making this recovery so slow. Corp. profits are up but demand is still flt….people don’t have the money to buy the products companies make, so why should they hire more workers if they’re not sure people will buy expanded inventories?

by Cecil Cain on Jan 14, 2011 2:46 PM EST up reply actions

I don't believe the whole "spending is slow" talk

Consumer spending has been steadily increasing. The real concern everyone has right now is the housing market and the price of oil.

by unambig on Jan 2, 2011 4:33 PM EST up reply actions

Wrong. These people were sold out by Reagan whose trickle down economics has been nothing more than a golden shower on anyone not in the top 5%. As union-busting became popular and the tax code became less progressive, America has seen an increase in wealth/income disparity to the point where it’s most unequal of advanced countries.

by haglnuts on Jan 7, 2011 4:36 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t doubt Reagan’s performance in helping end the cold war, and his policies were likely necessary for the time being. However, the idea of keeping tax rates on the top low and continuing to bust unions is what mainly destroyed the middle class.

by Cecil Cain on Jan 11, 2011 8:25 PM EST up reply actions

So..

you think Unions are a good think (just cause you obviously work for one – I can see your apparent disdain for Reagan). Dude, take a good look at Detroit and see for yourself the fruits of the unions. Unions are a major cause of the downfall of the economy. Sorry pal, facts are facts and truth has no agenda.

by haglnuts on Jan 12, 2011 10:54 AM EST up reply actions

Unions helped create what we call the middle class. The dismantling of unions is largely what’s led to the decline of such.

http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/149/snap20060621.jpg

There are many factors to Detroit’s downfall, and I do agree that Unions gained too many concessions in the 80’s, which hindered Detroit’s efforts down the road. However, instead of lobbying Congress to NOT pass stricter fuel-efficiency laws and keeping gas taxes low, they could have remained the leader in fuel efficiency instead o finding themselves 10 years behind the Japanese as they now are. Of course, the Japanese auto manufacturers had backing from their own government to absorb many of the R&D costs and this helped boost them ahead. And Detroit was making some smart choices before they were blindsided by a financial meltdown that destroyed the credit system they depended on for selling vehicles.

by theworldismine on Jan 2, 2011 9:32 PM EST up reply actions

"Blocking his attempts to do anything"?

The guy had a majority in BOTH the House and the Senate. The only ones blocking him doing anything were him, his people, or his agenda. He has given countless money in meaningless stimulus packages that didn’t work, made health care is main priority, and after 18 months of him claiming his presidency would be one of openness with no secrets, in his very first executive order he banned the release of any of his records. Of course anyone with half a brain knew the openness part never would or should happen. One of the very, next things he did was to fund overseas abortions in third world clinics with the US Taxpayer picking up the tab.

Health care was his priority, it was passed and now he has to live with the results of the midterm elections. Just like we all do, he has made his bed and he has to lay in it. The difference is he had both houses of congress and could have made pretty much any bed he wanted.

Good or bad, right or wrong, agree or disagree, the one thing this man does not get from me is sympathy either way.

by MichaelD8 on Jan 2, 2011 10:03 PM EST up reply actions

I missed that part about you not knowing the politics, my bad.

My main point, which may have gotten lost in the rant and for that I apologize, was that no one blocked his attempts. Because his party controlled the House and the Senate, he could have gotten passed pretty much anything he wanted to within reason. The is particularly true early on coming off the heels of a massive victory and everyone wanting to be on his good side.

The rant was pointing out his choices that left many in both parties baffled. Believe me, I would be saying the same thing no matter what party he was.

He is an amazing public speaker, and I think we were all hoping he was that leader we needed, but he has proved too young, too inexperienced, and was too naive to think he could come in and change politics as usual. With that said, I don’t know who beats him in 2012 because it surely won’t be Palin.

And before you go into my bias to bad, you are talking to a n Illinois/Chicago boy here; the president’s home state.

by MichaelD8 on Jan 2, 2011 10:40 PM EST up reply actions

“The guy had a majority in BOTH the House and the Senate. The only ones blocking him doing anything were him, his people, or his agenda.”

WRONG. Republicans unanimously opposed him, along with a handful of conservative dems. This is all it took for a filibuster to work. The healthcare bill that passed was a watered down version of his original plan, which had no chance of passing. The fighter in the video is ranting because health insurance companies will probably cover chiropratic visits less because they have to focus more on practices that actually work.

“He has given countless money in meaningless stimulus packages that didn’t work,”

Actually, the limited stimulus packages that did pass kept the economy from hitting a 2nd great depression. The economy lost 700,000 jobs the month the ARRA passed. The job losses hit zero in 6 months and since then, the economy has gained about 1 million jobs.

Cecil Cecil Cecil . . .

I looked at your profile and found that you only became a member of this forum on January 6th in wake of this “controversy”. Since joining, I noticed that this is the only forum that you have posted on and the only message that you care to give is to perpetuate the Obama propaganda machine. That information alone discredits anything that you have to say regarding Obama and his “achievements”. The claim that Obama has gained 1 million jobs is probably the only claim that you can personally account for. So tell me, what Union or progressive organization hired you to spend your day searching the internet for anything negative said against your employer (Obama) and promptly confront such ideas. This is just another example of how our first amendment rights are being flushed down the toilet. Media matters is all about propaganda and control by the systematic displacement of the 1st amendment. This douche just proved it.. .Thanks Cecil for unwittingly proving my point.

People need to stop thinking in terms of® and (D), that shit’s just a facade to keep the majority of the people divided. If people ever realize that® and (D) are equally to blame for our problems, we might see some real change by getting rid of the current power structure.

The economy took a dive because of the housing bubble burst. This can be blamed on both Reps and Dems but more so on the Rep side because of their insistence on deregulation which allowed the tangled financial web that led to the bubble in the first place.

Obama inherited a nightmare and he spent what political capital he had keeping the economy from falling into another great depression and passing a health care bill that improved what we had before but was still not as good as what he originally intended (that’s politics).

How we got here...

People who point to one person or event and say ’that’s how he got into this recession’ aren’t seeing the whole picture. It wasn’t just one person or political party that sent our economy into the toilet. It was a series of events commited by both major parties.

The goals of the Democrats are no different then the goals of the Republicans, and neither of them are in the best interests of the people. People need to wake up and see the political machine for what it truly is, instead of blindly blaming liberals or conservatives for all the country’s woes.

But as long as they keep us fighting with each other, we’ll never get around to fighting them.

I doubt the poster is envious, but rather pointing out a fact. As the tax rate has become less progressive and unions have been battered down, the rich have gotten far richer and the poor and middle class have been plundered. It has nothing to do with “envy” or one set of people not working hard enough. The rich don’t become so in a vacuum—they do it off the hard work of those who are now barely able to pay their bills and feed their children. It’s only fair they pay back into the system which allows them to get rich in the first place.

here is a quick NON- biased version of the events

CRA- community reinvestment act: Congress passed the Act in 1977 to reduce discriminatory credit practices against low-income neighborhoods

However when Bill Clinton was prez he signed a revision to the Federal Deposit Insurance act to allow banks to merge and form other types of financial institutions.(THIS WAS THE MAIN PROBLEM)

Banks then had a good reason to over extend huge sub prime mortages. They could engineer financial assets from the loans and sell them.

This lead to:

1:borrowers overextending ( banks allowing it, and ecncouraging it)
2:predatory lending ( Telling people they could afford HUGE loans)
    - They got a tax credit for lending to poor people
    - The CRA did not significantly increase the ammount of loans to poor people: This is according to multiple studies by the federal reserve
3:speculation ( House prices will always go up)

2008 Nobel Prize in Economics winner Paul Krugman104 noted in November 2009 that 55% of commercial real estate loans were currently underwater, despite being completely unaffected by the CRA.105 According to Federal Reserve Governor Randall Kroszner, the claim that “the law pushed banking institutions to undertake high-risk mortgage lending” was contrary to their experience,

One problem with this is. . .

You are falsely comparing who is to blame between the government and the private sector (capitalism). That is what THEY want us to be debating and their cronies in the major news networks perpetuate this red herring debate. The real problem is the FED Reserve/central bankers and their relationship and control over the government and media. The bigger picture would be to analyze who is calling all the shots and why do corruption in the banking system begat corruption in politics. They’re all pawns to the powerful elite, ie George Soros. You can’t start an argument about the corruption of the private sector without acknowledging who is calling the shot and what they’re plan is. . .to destroy the current system through overleveraging and artificial inflation. They’re first step is to divide the people by controlling the top (powerful elite)while creating civil unrest (calling for a revelution) from the poor to squeeze out the middle class. Do some research before you start bashing the “rich”. The rich (generally small business owners) have created the most prosperous economic system in the history of the world. Think a bit and do some research before you hop fully on board the “social express.” History has provided ample evidence as to where that road leads.

Wrap your head around this.

The republican party has an agenda that’s akin to ensuring that companies and corporations have the same rights as an individual American and that the government should be run like a board of directors. Now that being true to a degree, that same republican party cries foul when the individual American wants to be represented like a corporation and form unions and/or co/ops similar to the complex cooperative business structures of some major corporations ie. banks, oil and gas. As a non American, I have no right to cast judgement for the United States most common political philosophies, however it seems to me, as plain as day, that neither of the federal political parties represent the people’s interest’s anymore. They represent economic and corporate interest’s, believing that is in the people’s interest. However, in my humble opinion, and this may seem Machiavellian, the interest’s of the people need to be held in tantamount with economic and corporate interest’s and not be taken out of the equation with the hope that meeting corporate and economic interest’s will work in the interest of the people. Make sense?

There are definitely parts to the health care law that make sense. The part with the children, denial of coverage, pre-existing conditions, etc.

Guantanamo Bay is not closed and won’t be for a while. No one wants the prisoners and there is no where to put them. He has been BEGGING for countries to take them in and no one wants any part of it.

Don’t ask don’t tell should have been repealed, and it was, albeit it was a bi partisan effort that included major help from the Log Cabin Republicans if memory serves. Regardless, it got done.

Instead of worrying about Fox News or Msnbc, I suggest just focusing on the facts and ignoring the spin any of the networks put on the facts. I could post an ap article that was linked on Fox new or msnbc and half the people would rip on it because it had a fox news link, and the other half would rip on it because it had an msnbc link. The reality is it could be the same damn ap article that neither network provided, but no one took the time to read the little part that says “ap”. Focus on the facts.

Not really. In fact, I find it highly porbable that the HC bill as it was finally passed (after it got butchered via negotiations with HC providers) may not bode all that well for his business. Health insurers as I understand it aren’t crazy about providing coverage for chiropractors and the bill is more geared towards necessary medical procedures. It’s too bad Republicans and/or that handful of sellout Democrats couldn’t just agree to the original bill.
