Poor Kerry Vera and Beth Franklin have to go to bed every night with very noticeable pieces missing from the face they married. Only time I’ve ever blacked out or been knocked out was by a double-open-hand-compression-slap to both ears from behind. For a split second everything went dark and when the lights switched back on, I was on my knees and dude was already 50 yards away laughing his head off. i was hoping that this fight would have been a stand up war…i wanted to see thiago and vera in the middle of the cage slugging it out going for the ko…but thiago wanted no part of that shit…i never seen him too scared to slug it out before…he went the lay n pray route…
it was smart though…he got the win…vera wasnt expecting that shit…props to thiago…hes a top 5 contender..only losses were to shad and machida…so hes definantly on top of the division….
but if you notice at the beginning of the 1st and 2nd rounds when they stood vera got the best of him with the striking…

jardine stood with the greatest lhw of all time and won before he became a glass jaw (chuck)..and he ko'd forrest..that's 2 former lhw champs
and that was also only vera’s 2nd fight at lhw after cutting like 25 pounds from hw….you go from fighting 230 to 205 you gonna have some conditioning issues…hell just look at what happened to shields in his ufc debut when going down a mere 15 pounds…he was barely breathing…

I was a huge fan when he first emerged at HW, but the holdout for more cash kind of soured me to him. After he started losing at 205, it was kind of obvious he was never going to be the beast everyone made him out to be due to his lack of groundgame. (although I still think he beat Capt. Paycheck)

I forgot about page, but I think he should fight winner of jones/ bader. And I don’t see Franklin fighting nog A’s a real step back I mean he knocked out chuck who was on a 5 fight losing streak and has a chin that can get him knocked out by small children so I don’t think Franklin shoul be held super high at 205. And I’m a huge Franklin fan. Even if he beats griffin that doesn’t say much, arguably up untilthe last round Tito could have won that fight but for some reason he thought standing still and letting griffin punch him in the gave was a good strategy

However i did expect him to lose but just for his nose to look like that. I still think Franklin’s looked worse after UFC 64 when Silva won the title. For someone who has a good wrestling backround, his college wrestling did not translate well to MMA wrestling…I remember him saying going into the Jones fight that he was always to worried about being takendown and he shouldnt be because he is good with his jits, but it is very clear he offers nothing from his back and should really focus on his takedown defense….I guess tapping out A. Silva at ufc 70 made him think he is a world beater off his back…but I feel we will see him in a year or so if the UFC cuts him he just needs a lot of work with the ground game and takedown defense

im sure dana was pretty disappointed with that fight...that fight was put together for the sole purpose of being an ALL OUT BRAWL
cause they already figured gray/edgar were going to a decision….diaz/kim were going to a decision…and since edgar and maynard was such a hard sell on their own…they figured they’d put 3 big explosive fights on there to make it stand out…
i mean look at the match ups and you tell me what was expected…
leben/stann….anyone expect that fight to be a humpfest? fuck no…you expected to see a slugfest and thats what we got…
guida/gomi….anyone expect that to be a 3 round humpfest? fuck no…you expected to see an all out war and thats what we got…
and i think thats what they expected in the vera/silva fight…an all out 205 war…but thiago didnt fall for that….he went in with a safe and effective gameplan..and got the win

He beat the crap out of Vera. Getting thrown on your back is part of the game, its not playing it safe. Silva stood and threw, he took him down and smashed him, it was a good performance by Thiago he really dominated Brandon regardless of were it was. Do we even need to talk about Brandon Vera anymore, hasnt enough been said and done.

and this is MMA, Vera should go do some K1 if he’s so great in the striking department, leave MMA for those who can play into the diversity of the game.
