UFC 125 bonuses and awards for 'Resolution' on Jan. 1

Ufc81-bonus_medium_medium_medium_medium

UFC 125: "Resolution" from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, has officially wrapped, which means that it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.

To the tune of $60,000 each.

The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 22 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's leaving "Sin City" with second sack of simoleons.

Jeremy Stephens earned his "Knockout of the Night" bonus by spoiling Marcus Davis' lightweight debut. "Lil Heathen" was getting soundly outboxed -- that is until he detonated an "Irish Hand Grenade" on his opponents face late in the final frame.

Also hauling in a wheelbarrow full of cash is the energetic stick of dynamite Clay Guida, for his surprising guillotine choke of fellow lightweight Takanori Gomi. "The Carpenter" put out "The Fireball Kid" in the second round to bring home the bacon that comes with earning "Submission of the Night."

Finally, Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard took home the coveted "Fight of the Night" bonus for their thrilling five round war-of-attrition that ended in a rare split draw. With "The Answer" nearly ending the fight with a submission and "The Bully" nearly ending it via knockout, it only seems right they split the benefits of their hard work in the cage.

We can only hope to see it again.

Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC 125:

Star-divide

Fight of the Night -- Frankie Edgar vs Gray Maynard

Knockout of the Night -- Jeremy Stephens

Submission of the Night -- Clay Guida

Again, each fighter received $60,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.

I had no problem..

I like bacon...and Rashad Evans is a pussy..It does NOT matter who wins the Brock vs Cain fight because they are simply baby sitting the belt for Junior.

props to Jeremy for sticking to his gameplan and waiting for the perfect moment…….my heart def. goes out to Davis tho … about a minute before the KO i said to my girlfriend, “it would be a shame if Davis would lose this fight because he is fighting the perfect fight, and he really cant afford another loss mentally” and then BAM…..dont know where he goes from here…he was looking excellent up until that point I thought

There will be 2 cuts announced

Davis and Baroni…..

What about Vera?

I think Baroni or Davis might stick around because they are names and always bring a fight, even in a loss. UFC still needs some gatekeepers.

Baroni and Davis are far from gatekeepers

As if their list of losses deals with any true contenders (Joe Riggs, Sadollah, and Tavares for Baroni; Stephens, Diaz, Saunders, Kelly for Davis).

It’s painful to watch Davis get KTFO anymore….as fun as watching Chuck come in all doped up on coke and watching him leave like he is all doped up on heroin after getting KTFO.

cant argue that…probably the best fight of the year so far !!

by IT's Time! on Jan 2, 2011 4:03 AM EST reply actions

i was impressed with Clay Guida’s win…thought for sure we would see another Florian vs Guida fight (would get picked apart on the feet and then choked out)….however…still dont see him able to beat any of the top guys…has he fought Jim Miller yet ? if not that could be a great fight, and it looks like Miller will need somone to fight his title shot will have to wait
