Rashad Wins a Decision.

IMO. Sugar gets the Takedown and Controls most if the rounds. Shogun might Knock Rashad The Fuck Out. But than again he might not and RASHAD gets his belt back. :)

What makes you think Rashad can go 5 rounds?

Fight with Thiago = gasses in the 3rd almost gets KTFO.
Fight with Rampage = gasses in the 3rd almost gets KTFO.

Rashad can’t go 5 rounds like Sonnen can, like Maynard can, he just can’t. He can’t grind it out, hes getting KTFO for sure. Shogun is my fighter, he will win. I know my fighter is p4p best.

Well, I find myself agreeing with Danago

At least in regards to Rashad going 5 rounds at 100%. Although, Shogun better not show up with that old guy cardiovascular either. If Rua comes in like he did against Machida, he’s got it.

Honestly

I would question shogun going 5 rounds before rashad right now. Shogun has been to busy Banting his knee To do proper cardio, and when I saw the work outs rashad did in the prefight shows when he fought rampage I was impressed. Evans is smart I guarantee he has been working his butt of I wouldnt count him out in this fight for a second

Except for the part about Shogun being p4p best

I agree with everything you just posted

I read this waiting in the passport office today

There is a really good article on MIke Pyle and Kyle Noke also. I havent read Carlos Condit’s section yet but probably will in a day or so.

Honestly, the Shogun story was pretty vanilla. Nothing new. Other than he was BBQ’ing in his backyard and Maia was over.

Shogun is going to win this fight!

I dont think he will put his ttle on the line if he isnt ready to fight at the level he was at when he was fighting Machida. The title simply means too much to him, This leads me to believe that he will be in top shogun killah form on fight night and Rashad will be in trouble.

Rashads gas tank is too small for his style. Sice changing his style to the GSP/jackson camp “safe approach”, after getting knocked out by Machida…Rashad has proven that he doesnt have the gas tank to implement his new safe style for 15minutes…and since there is no way in hell that Rasahd will finish Shogun….Ol SUGA is gonna be sucking wind in the championship rounds. Shogun fought Machida for 25min, and wasnt even breathiing heavy. he could have went another 2 rounds that night…Shad doest have that kind of gas tank.

Also, Shads new safe style is something he is extrenely good at…He can hump fighters for a good 12 miuntes…thats stamina lol!!! But he has never tried to hump a fighter with such a razor sharp guard as shogun ruas!!! I have felt for a long time now that Shoguns jits and his guard is really the best in the LHW division. Rashad has yet to hump anyone with that kind of guard…Shoguns jits is very technically sound, but what will present problems for Shad is how aggressive shoguns guard and his jits is…He will rapid fire sweeps and submission attempts at Rashad at a pace that Shad has never experienced before. Interesting to see if rashad can hump his way through some serious world class jits!

Of course shogun slaughters him in the stand up department…we dont even gotta get into that!

Shad aint taking his belt!

The best LHW in the world will hold onto his title and make his 2nd title defense!!! The PEOPLESS CHAMP!.

Wow, I really thought you would have gotten over Rashad beating

Rampage, a fighter who by your own words was supposed to be light years ahead of him. It appears that you haven’t. I actually thought that you had gone of and did Evan Tanner after your embarrassing prediction for that match, as you were gone for so long. It will be nice having Rashad make you hurl your guts up again, from eating your own words.

John you're right about Shogun's guard.

People always talk about the Rua’s striking which i mean is cool but nothin special aside from aggressive. However, they’ve both always been very slick grapplers with passing and attacking. I just dont imagine how hashad is going to play that laynpray for 15 minutes especially when he’s intentionally trying togas himself out with that shit he calls footwork. I mean it’s not as bad as clay guida but damn man, no reason to be bouncin around without purpose.

If the round is too close, it's 10-10, NOT flip a coin 10-9 or late takedown FTW.

yeah as long as Rua isnt in Forrest or Coleman fight form, he will put Rashad away either standing or with a submission.

Its pretty simple..Rashad cant finish Shogun. He A, not capable…B) Finishing an opponment isnt even in his fucking gameplans anymore…so Rashad has to win a decision…Shogun is a fuckin terror for rashad both standing or one the ground. He can finish this fight out of every single position that a man can be put in in mma, just about!
Rashad will tire himself out trying to Grind shogun, and the entire time he will have to weather shoguns aggression. I cant see Rasahd surviving 25 minutes of constant rapid fire assualts in order to win the decision. Shoguns is that dangerous naturally…but come the championship rounds when Rashad is fatigued both physically and mentally, its going to be very difficult for Rashad to not make any mental mistakes and avoid being caught in a submission!

This is Shoguns fight!

Best overall Jits in the 205 weight class of mma worldwide goes to Shogun! Just ask Rogerio Nog!!!!

roger gracie respectfully would disagree

but then again, maybe shogun’s bjj is more useful for mma

no, its a very highly educated guess!!!

care to debate this topic? who wouold you say has better mma jits then shogun?

by John G. on Jan 18, 2011 11:42 AM EST up reply actions

Have you watched everyo fighter at 205 fight? When I’m at 205 I’d say my jits is right up there, I roll with Shogun on a regular basis..

by danago on Jan 18, 2011 11:59 AM EST up reply actions

the only thing going for rashad are elbows

shoguh is obviously the better fighter in every single area but in pride he didn’t have to deal with elbows while trying to sweep and machida didn’t try one when he got him down twice in their second fight. I can’t remember the forrest, coleman and chuck fights from memory but i don’t think either of them got him down.

still i see another stanky leg in rashad’s future

by vhw_ on Jan 18, 2011 10:49 AM EST up reply actions

Good point about the elbows but

the nature of elbowing reduces your base and control which will leave openings for Rua to escape. Machida did take Rua down twice in their last fight but Rua popped back up like a rocket each time. He’s very hard to hold down.

I see Rashad trying to pin him in the fence both standing and on the ground. He’ll try and wear him down that way whilst minimising shoguns strengths and attacks.

If both fighters were fighting in their prime it wouldn’t even be close, Rua would put him in hospital like he did with Overeem and many others. As he’s rebounding from more knee surgery I’m not 100% confident. We’ll see…
