Ryan Couture, son of legendary UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, will compete professionally for the second time against an opponent to be determined on Feb. 18 at Strikeforce Challengers 14, which is reportedly scheduled for the Cedar Park Center in Austin, Texas, according to MMAFighting.com.

Care to speculate on who his opponent will be?

SHAD GONNA RAPE SHOGUN YOU FUCKING CUNT LORDS

by HellaHectic on Jan 15, 2011 5:35 AM EST reply actions

this is one of my dream fights...and if the shogun that fought machida in shogun/machida 2 was fighting id have a hard time calling it

but i have a feeling we’re gonna see the shogun that fought forrest and coleman….you cant have your knee replaced over and over again and still be the same fighter….

if a 100% shogun came in to fight rashad it would be a tough fight to call…..but the fact that rashad has the ability to take down any healthy fighter at will…its just gonna make it that much easier when hes taking down a guy coming off his 123334th knee surgery…

i saw machida take down shogun EASILY in their 2nd fight…and mach doesnt have nearly the explosive shot shad does….

i just think shad is gonna come in and win the fight by taking advantage of a multiple time repaired knee and shoot for the td over and over and over again…the same way he did against page and thiago…..

Good point about the knee surgeries

And Shogun is weak against wrestlers so Rashad does have a decent chance to win, interesting fight.

I got bored in Rashad’s recent fights so I’ll be rooting for Shogun in this one.

Shogun is my favorite fighter

but that damn knee has me worried. Hopefully he is trolling the world w/ the knee (wishful thinking.
But IMO if he were to be in the same shape as he was against Machida in the 2nd fight, Rashad would stand -100% (yes, that is a minus/negative) chance of winning.

You can take someone down in many different ways

Some fighters are better at sprawling than defending trips and throws. Machida uses trips and dragdowns from the clinch, so it’s a totally different game. Shogun might be alot better avoiding the shot than machidas clinch-takedowns. I just wanted to point that out, since you mentioned that rashads shot is better than machidas, since machida never goes for the double or single.

its gonna be most boring fight of the yr

Shad will just go for take down after take down and not even bother to stand with Shogun, he didnt stand with Page, he didnt stand against Silva, who are both better strikers than Rashad is.

Hopefully tho Shogun lands a knee when Rashad shoots for a double and takes his head off, only bad thing about that is we have to listen to that stupid screaming bint of a wife shad has!

bro dont pick apart his record like that

im not saying hes the greatest of all time, but hes very good…he never fought cans like fedor did, and his losses are to legit people – vitor, chuck, barnett, big nog, brock, ricco…no fighters people would really be embarassed to lose to

yea i know

but i personally dont think valentijn is anything special…not a can, but was never considered top 10 like the rest

I think that was Robinho's point ...

The Overeem loss could definitely be considered embarrassing. And I wasn’t picking apart his record, I was merely disputing the claim that he’s the greatest of all time. Despite facing mostly elite competition, he hasn’t even won 2/3 of his fights. Great fighter? Definitely. Greatest of all time? Not even close.

not even close?

u need to factor in his age also though. for what he has done at the age he started

by ElStIkO on Jan 15, 2011 3:11 PM EST up reply actions

I understand looking at it that way, but I disagree.

I think his ability to fight near 50 is incredible, but I don’t think he should be held to a different standard because of it. I think he could have possibly been the GOAT had he started younger, but I think actual results are the only thing to measure fighters by.

ok fair enough

i see your point…and i agree, hes one of the greatest of all time but not THE greatest of all time…just a miscommunication, nbd

The Look On This Kid's Face Cracks Me Up

Shogun's knee will explode for the final time when Rashad shoots for the takedown.

LOL I just won't against Evans again

I want shogun but, like fitch…Shad’ costs people their parlays!

I didn’t see Ryan’s 1st pro bout(was it any good?)
Plus, he was to fight unknown Juan Zapata but was out due to a staph infection. Why not make that the fight?. Is it just me or do you guys feel managers nowadays rush their fighters to the big shows/big fights just to make as much quickly. Ryan has only been training in MMA since, he graduated school in 2004.He’s 28, i say 2 more pro bouts(really fighting low end competition) then let him take on a gatekeeper at 155lbs or 170lbs and find his path.I have a vision of him fighting Nate Diaz one day and just enjoying Nate Diaz rip this kid for nepotism

I think it’s bullshit that they’re giving this his first professional fights in SF just because his dad is Randy. It’s not like he’s looking to be some sort of phenom, let the kid work his way up through smaller shows just like everyone else.. maybe it’s just me but the fact that he’s Randy’s son does not make me more interested in seeing him fight. Silly stuff IMO.
