My opinion of Lesnar/dos Santos news ***UPDATED***

A couple weeks ago I reported that the UFC would give in to Brock Lesnar's demand s and allow him to wrestle at Wrestlemania.  In return he would coach TUF and most likely bring in the best ratings the series has had since the season "starring" Kimbo Slice.  Today Dana White announced that the coaches for TUF 13 would be none other than Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos.  TUF begins filming this month and begins airing on March 30.

While I have no problem (anymore) with the UFC using their biggest draw to coach on TUF, and also understand it's a business move to also allow him to compete at Wrestlemania.  The thing I have a problem with is that this fight is rumored to be for an interim title.  First off, Lesnar, while a huge draw is coming off of a lopsided loss.  Most hardcore fans poke fun at Strikeforce for giving title shots to guys coming off of a loss.  Because this is the UFC and Dana White, as well as Brock Lesnar, will those same fans stay quiet on this one?

Secondly, is it really necessary to have an interim title?  Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquz is reportedly going to be out for six months, not years.  I really believed interim titles were only necessary if a champion was going to be sidelined for a really long time.  I also believe that if it wasn't Brock Lesnar, the UFC wouldn't have even thought about an interim title.  I understand that Brock is the biggest draw the UFC has and that making this a title fight adds to the hype of what ever event this match is put on ("definitely June" according to White), but it just doesn't sit right with me.

Cain of course said the right thing, saying he doesn't mind and won't be offended with whatever the UFC does with the heavyweight division while he's rehabbing his injured shoulder.  What is he supposed to say?  "you guys are giving a title shot to the man I just dominated, that's just stupid!"  That's what he should've said.

Dana White said to Vancouver, "keep your fingers crossed" because "you could be getting" Brock-JDS.  I'll have more on this as details emerge.  What are your thoughts?

***UPDATE***

This fight will be to determine the #1 contender and not for an interim belt as previously reported.  In that case, I have no problem with the UFC's choice in coaches.  Has JDS bitten off more than he can chew?  Or is his takedown defense good enough to stuff Brock?
