Around SBN: Ellenberger vs. Sanchez Heats Up, Hughes Talks Retirement

Welterweight Class

There are so many great Welterweight fighters this year, it's so hard to choose who's going to really end on top going into 2011. Any thoughts?? Any suprises this year?? I see the 119 card on Sept.25, Mat Serra is going to be tough to beat! What would be the best Welterweight fights to watch if you had your choice? Taking a look back at the past fight cards, prelim and main, I would like to see Rick "The Horror" Story take on one of the top ten...Matt Hughs!~

Mike Pierce is gonna be the breakout WW......

he’s gonna be the new jon fitch. I like Rick Story and Brian Foster too, they just have such a awesome smash game. Hathaway is obviously a no question……I don’t expect them to start getting major wins until next year tho. I don’t see the WW rankings change much before end of year.

Hughes has been great. I don’t say he’ll go for another title but his performances have amazed me.

Agree Ed

Thing is, losing to GSP and a 200lb Alves aside, he’s won everything else.

Not the strongest opposition but he keeps on trucking. I think he’s enjoying fighting more with the pressure off him. He’s no longer the main event but he still loves to compete.

More power to him

on a side note

Did anyone else think that TUF commercial was ridiculous? Where they are in the rain fighting against tornados and crazy stuff….I couldn’t help but chuckle…I see the relation, but its just way too over the top. Woulda been sweet if kos got struck by one of those lightning bolts
