Cains check list

1) Quickness – Well Cain is a little lighter on his feet, when Brock decides to moves he is fast and even Cain is not quick enough.
2) Cardio – Both fighters have great cardio, neither has been proven after three rounds. I would have to say physically you would think Cain’s would be better but will this fight go past 3 even if it is? I doubt it.
3) Distance -Brock has a 4" reach advantage, but Cain does use his stand up better I can see Cain using a Edgar like attack and get out tactic but against another wrestler he may be in trouble especially with Brocks explosiveness, and if he gets caught Brock has the power to at least daze Cain.

In this fight it kind of does resemble a Edgar(Cain) vs Maynard(Brock) fight. Edgar having the better stand up and good grappling vs Maynard the stronger grappler add KO power to both fighters and with everything said this fight will come down to who can get who down and ground and pound. My money is on Brock.

Did you guys watch JDS talking about his preparation and Cain vs Brock?

Brock is not Shane Carwin. He can finish this fight in 5 rounds if need be..

But this fight won’t last more than 2 rounds…BANK IT.

He said

If Brock wasn’t able to finish in the first couple rounds then Cain would win. Which kinda makes sense if you think about it, since draws are particularly rare. Lol.

I don't know why everyone thinks Brock is gonna have a cardio problem

He had 3 rds with Herring and still looked fresh at the end of the 3rd. Even if Cain has better cardio having to throw around a guy that much bigger or fending him off is gonna cancel that out anyway imo.

Agreed, where did Brock show weak Cardio?

He was beat up like noone else against Carwin and looked fine in the second. Brock is a biest, he has too much Brockness vaccine in him to gas.

BJ Penn is the biggest waste of talent in MMA history. Like usual, my pick was wrong and I blame a certain pudgy Hawaiin for my own short comings when it comes to talent selection. As it stands BZ – 3 Freenow82 – 1.

THIS. Brock is not your typical Heavyweight fighter.

If anything, I’d put his cardio up there with Cain so there goes Brownish-Poo-Pride’s advantage there.

Cain is leaving this fight looking like Hamburger.

Take that too the bank.

Riding the Brock Train..
Jon Fitch, Gray Maynard and Chael Sonnen can suck it. If I want a blanket I'll buy it in the store, not on PPV.
GSP and Rashad are getting close to joining this list.

brock's cardio

I’ve never seen a weakness in Brock’s cardio, but he also hasn’t seen a pace that Cain will bring. Can Brock handle the pace? Perhaps, but I’ll need to see it before I’m convinced.
Brock is a destructive dude, but his standup is suspect, and that’s where Cain takes this fight. Brock cannot destroy what he can’t catch, and Cain has more than enough wrestling skills to avoid being taken down or mounted by Brock…. Cain will outsrike Brock, he will elude Brock’s shot, and we’ll have a new heavyweight champ. Naysayers, bring it on.

Speak for yourself, jerky.

I don’t agree at all.

Cain is fast but he’s not exactly Frankie Edgar….Add Brock’s 4 inch reach advantage and Cain WILL get caught and driven to the octagon mat where Brock will go to work….

Easy to say. much tougher to do, Brock in his takedowns uses mostly strength takedowns that Carwin was able to stuff but it took everything Carwin had the first round. Does Cain have the strength to stuff a power takedown that Carwin has? No I didn’t think so but it’s easy to say and thats why they fight. Brock has made so many here look foolish just ask Worby, hey Worby LOL.

Anyway Cain of coarse has a decent chance but it’s not going to come down to speed or Cardio it will come down to heart determination and Cain does have a big heart and is relentless not to mention a solid chin so this should be a great fight! I believe Brocks desire and strength will overpower Cain?

Brock brings a pretty intense pace himself. I've fought a guy that had about 40 lbs on me before and even though I was in better shape

Even though I had better card, it took a 110% effort to fight that big motherfucker while he was using his normal output. I ended up gassing before him.

Brock has good cardio anyhow. Cain is in deep shit against Brock. He hasn’t shown the ability to knock dudes out like car win and he is to small to hang with Brock for long.

by Conan the Barbarian on Sep 7, 2010 2:06 PM EDT reply actions

I feel like..

if Cain gets into the same GNP situation that Carwin was in, he’d be much more effective. That ‘s what I’m worried about.

Finish Him!

by bigGcastle on Sep 7, 2010 3:47 PM EDT reply actions

He might put up a bigger struggle but the result will be similar to Mir or Carwin

Brocks movement on the ground is faster than Cain add in the power that he has, I can’t see anybody in MMA being able to survive. Now with that said how is Brock on his back? I think the fighter that gets on top has the biggest advantage. My money is on Brock.

Yeah but

what happens if we see a repeat of r1 Carwin/Lesnar where Lesnar gets put on his ass for standing with Cain? I mean i don’t think that would happen this time ’cause Lesnar seems pretty smart but…

Finish Him!

by bigGcastle on Sep 7, 2010 4:45 PM EDT reply actions

Cain doesn't have the power of Carwin either.

Cain has one good stand up fight and to say his is that much better or even comparable to Carwin is a joke based on one fight with NOG. We can look at Brocks fight with Couture only and say he has good stand up too.

You're only as good as your last fight.

All I’m saying is that when looking at their stand-up in each of their prior fights, makes me a bit nervous for Brock.

But you’re def right about Carwin’s power being on entirely different level than Cain’s. Hopefully that difference will make this fight much easier for brock than his fight with carwin.

Finish Him!

by bigGcastle on Sep 7, 2010 5:37 PM EDT up reply actions

I still feel Carwin is the 2nd best HW even with sub par cardio

Cain was dazed from Kongo and a Carwin strike is much more effective than a Kongo strike. Cain has been the stronger fighter all his fights and his aggressivness and style show this. How will he look when he is not the stronger fighter and what kind of style will he use? Coming forward as aggressive as he did against NOG will have Cain on his back and by this statement I think he knows this so how will a more cautious Cain look, it’s hard to change who you are regardless and when you do It will be for the worse?

I think the only thing left for me is..

will Cain be able to defend against TDs?

Finish Him!

by bigGcastle on Sep 7, 2010 6:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Don't get me wrong I think Cain is a great fighter and a more complete fighter

But I believe this fight will be one by each fighters base that is wrestling and I believe Brock takes the grappling and I assume Cain believes this too by his statement, “keeping the distance”. IF I were to put odds on this fight I would have Brock with a 60% chance of winning. Another thing many don’t look at is Cains fight with NOG was not much of a match it lasted arounded two minutes and was almost all feeling out with a few flurries and I don’t think much of a fight as far as testing himself and getting experience. Before that was a year ago with Rothwell combine both those fights I see Brock getting the better experience? How will Cain do with pretty much a year off any real challenge?

You're only as good as your last fight? Dude, fuk that tired old saying!!!

Brock is as good as his ENTIRE UFC CAREER IS!!

He has been in a few bumps in the road(His first fight with Mir, Carwin have him in trouble in the 1st) but guess what? Aside from his first fight, HE’S WON ALL OF THEM!!!

That won’t change against Cain.

by BrockRocks on Sep 8, 2010 2:45 AM EDT up reply actions

Brock gonna beat up

you forgot to finish the line. Brock gonna beat up Cain!! And still the HW Champion of the world ……………………

He knows he's got nothin' but a punchers chance.

There is a chance that he simply “has Brock’s number” so to speak. I would put money on Brock for this however.
