I know that a lot of you out there are big football fans. That is, real-American football not to be confused with soccer. I was thinking about getting in 1 more fantasy football league, and I never join public leagues, because there is no point.
So I was thinking that if enough maniacs were interested, I can create a MMA Mania Fantasy Football league on Yahoo. I'm ideally looking for people that post often on Mania and/or have fantasy football knowledge and will keep up with their team week to week -- and I would want it to be 12 teams. THIS IS A $20 PAY LEAGUE.
I know of a couple people interested already. If this sounds like something you want in on, put it in the comments and I'll set it up. Draft is set for Wednesday at 10:30 pm ET.

i would be down if someone can draft for me, maybe i could partner up on a team because i would be working tomorrow night and wont be able to draft. bjpennfan, mmachamp, anybody. i'll keep up and help with trades, just wont be able to draft.

Drew, I may change it to Wed night if it takes that long to get 12.
With the rankings, you can set your own custom rankings, the when the draft comes, your team will be autodrafted using your rankings instead of the standard yahoo rankings

Its up to you. Last draft, I did the Top 100. I didn't figure out a quicker way to move players over other than clicking each one
in the middle window and then clicking the arrow to move them to the right, which is for your rankings.

instead of clicking and moving i figured out you can click them all and then move once and then move um around once they get there.

I also have the option of expanding to 14, 16, or 20 teams. I wouldn’t want to go over 14, so I’m taking “applications” for the last 2 spots down below.
Another thing is, we are considering making it a pay league. WOULD EVERYONE THAT SIGNED UP BE DOWN FOR EITHER $20 or $50? If not, and other people that see this post tomorrow are willing to pay, I may have to change the league around a bit. BUT, no worries, because if that is the case, i will create a 2nd league for maniacs that is free.

dont expand, just have 2 leagues, the only hard pert would be it wouldnt keep track of the superbowl scoring so we would need to do that.if you do more teams the talent level on your team gets diluted.

its set to be randomly chosen 1/2 hour prior to draft
The other option is, the commish assigns the draft positions. Random is most fair.

Kev, I would like to, but it may be a little late to try and get enough committed money players.

I am a longtime reader – and have been wondering for some time what article would finally get me to post (I almost did when I found out I was going to burn in hell for being an MMA fan…article on BE if you missed it) so its actually somewhat funny that the tug of Fantasy Football is what finally lured me in. If there are still any spots available and you don’t mind a Mania noob (NOT an MMA noob tho) I would definitely be in.

Question for all you SB veterans
Although Mania is where I spend most of my time online in search of MMA news, I check in on a couple of other sites as well (BE/CP/etc) and know full well the level of douchbaggery some of the moderators are famous for. My question is this…if you are banned from one site, does the ban extend to all SB Nation affiliated sites? Not that I plan to go insulted Kid “Think I’m Great” or his biggest fan Jonathan – I’m just curious.

Ceck out a few sites like NFL.com and check out some mock drafts and draft player ratings.
Usually the top RB`s go first becasue they score touchdowns more consistently and usually passing TD`s are only worth 3-4 but I just noticed they are worth 6 in this one.

The computer will just take your highest ranked guy that is still available.
Don’t use the auto draft if you know you will be there. Or set up your roster in case you’re not sure and if you are there, turn off the auto draft.
i tried looking at what positions we have to pick and almost half are listed as bn, i assume those are back-ups that we sub in depending on match-ups
how do we decide or know how many of those are for which position? and what is w/r/t?

W/R/T is a flex position. You can use a WR, a RB or a TE in that position.
So you start
1 QB
2 RB
3 WR
1 TE
1 Flex = WR/TE/RB
1 K
1 Defense/Special Teams
and 6 bench players..

When the draft starts you'll figure it out.
The whole screen will direct you to the “turn auto draft off” button.
Log into the site and do a mock draft, it’s actually pretty fun.
yeah, bench players stats don't count. There are trades

because I am guessing that as an American sports fan, you follow football. I don’t know that Jay does, and Canadian football has slightly different rules. This year is less about the RB’s than in previous years, since every team is going with the damn platoon. Don’t waste a pick on a kicker until your last selection. Unless you get a top 2 defense, don’t waste a good pick on them either, you can always play the waiver/matchups with defenses each week. . .

From the onset. Playing the waivers correctly, predicting good matchups and trading is a fine art. I have played for many a year, if you are competitive at all, you will be watching more football than you could have ever imagined.

Then you take some more guys as your bench guys, like another QB, RB, TE….
IF you’re not there for the draft you could end up with some weird shit for bench players, I would think.

It will only make you draft the required positions
But I think the bench players could be anyone (kickers included).
If you aren’t there for the draft ( I auto drafted for practise in a mock draft) it will just continue down your list. It could end up picking 6 WR for your bench.

I got the Ravens D back when they were SB champs so it didn`t turn out so bad, but I was lacking on RB depth.

And it drafted my one QB and 2 RB’s then skipped down to the next position needed which was a few WR’s

I’m not gonna remember all those names. It has it’s own rankings that are accumulated from other drafts.
The reports and shit on there is crazy. It’s really put together well.
i trust the rankings for everything except ijuries. but if you know a player and think there going to have an up or down year then change the ranking.

If you enter your debit card number and expiration it goes thru as debit
If you enter your checking account, you gotta put your bank routing number and checking account number. All those numbers on the bottom left of your checks.
You only need to do that for when you withdraw money so you can withdraw form PayPal to your checking. At least, that’s all I use it for. Back in the day I used to have a PayPal debit card so I can go to ATM’s and take money right out my PayPal account.
But you are right that debit card and check draw from the same account. You can only deposit money with your debit card, you can’t withdraw to your debit card.

its my first time fucker. just did a mock draft and was floored by how good of players i got. i drafted 5th. im picking up a fantasy football magazine on the way to work and cant wait till were matched up!
only thing i didnt like about the mock draft was i couldnt view the whole window and missed which players were getting picked in the bottem left, but they still dissapear from your list so it worked well. not sure my rankings worked on the mock, at first it did but then there were some players out of order and even ones i chose to not draft at all were still available?

They score some points for you, but they are minimal
You get points for sacks, interceptions, and touchdowns (defense or special teams). Also, if your defense give up llke over 30 points, you get negative fanstasy points. If your defense pitches a shutout, than you get a few points. Its on the scores and settings page.
The best defenses, 49ers and Jets, are usually drafted in like the 6th – 8th round. Personally, I wait till one of the last couple rounds to take my defense, same with my kicker. Kickers = they are pretty much all the same…

that is a common strategy. Some people like to hold 2 and play the matchups. Some hold 1 and pick up someone on waivers for thier bye week

If your D is the highest rated take them. You want to put on the top point scoreers and if your D is better than any other starter you can put in do it.

IR = Injured Reserve.....
For example if you have a star player get injured, you can place them on IR and get another player from free agency until your injured player is ready to play again. That way you do not have to lose them……

You think you have your strategy down, but then 1/2 hour before the draft you find out your draft position and that sometimes changes everything.
Like for me this past weekend. I ended up with the 2nd pick which meant I had to tweak my strategy quite a bit

nooob question number 67- im reading a lot online about people who dont draft kickers or defenses and just use the waiver wire. now if im going to sign them off the waiver don’t i have to let go of one my guys anyway, so whats the advantage of this? i could understand using your last 2 picks for kicker and defense but whats the point of drafting another player that you will have to waive to pick up the kicker anyway?

Because let’s say fake owner has a healthy team first couple of weeks but then his starting QB gets injured and doesn’t get replaced for the last weeks. That’s not fair for teams playing him early. Also, bye weeks would cause other problems.

if you are logged in, the draft should come right up. Then there is an "autopick" option on top with a checkbox
Default is unchecked. Just don’t click that box. That is how you turn autodraft on if you are present. OR, if you take the full 90 seconds without making a pick, you automatically switch to autodraft.

you drag them into postion
goto my team and then select roster. Then look to the left and youll see the pos like QB , RB, WR, ect if you want to start them drag them to that pos. if you want them on the bench then drag them to the bh spot
got it. im going with kolb over stafford until i see what i want to see out of stafford

if they play tonight and you want to play them, you need to start them.
if not bench them that way they don’t take a spot on your starting lineup

it dosnt say im out, it says i havnt used any. are you sure the waivers arnt something different then adding and dropping from free agency.
maybe theres a point after the first week where we each have to put a few of our worst on waivers and other teams are allowed to sign them?

Drew, I'll take a stab at this. This is how I understand it
When a player is unowned – he is a free agent.
When a team drops a player, that player is on waivers for 2 days. That means that you can put in a waiver claim during those 2 days to add him. After the 2 days, whichever team with the highest waiver priority that wanted to add the player gets him. That team then becomes #12 in waiver priority.
The thing about no waivers after the draft – I made that setting since we were drafting so close to the first game (today). In my other league I had a 2 day waiver period after the draft. But not in this league becomes the claims wouldn’t process till tomorrow.
And you will never be forced to put players on waivers.

And for your moves, I guess it doesn't start calculating till week 1 begins?

Should make more sense next week. BUT, if you find yourself making 7 moves a week, your team has serious issues….

im just confused why i added 3 and it says 0. and if what im doing is signing free agents or claiming guys off of waivers. i think i signed free agents and waivers are something different, mike said no waivers until next week.

a waiver is when someone drops a player we all get a chance to pick that player up,
but the person with higher priority takes him if they want that player. for example, right now bigGcastle has the most priority, just look at the number under the title Waiver in the league’s home page.

and who ends up with the player. Right now I’m screwed becuase I am number 10 in the waver list.

i would rather have 2 def players then so many bench players. you should get 1 DL man and one DB and get points for tackles, interceptions fumble recoverys and sacks.

But its ok if people backout. If just less than 3 teams do, than you just have them take the empty team over. If there is more than 3, than you have a redraft for those 4 owners with the players from the 4 unowned teams

so the new people would just draft the keepers they want from the empty teams, then draft the rest of thier team with us
that is how all keepers work. I’m trying to get in a baseball dynasty keeper league that my brother in law is in. Its $250 and I’m willing to take over any team
