Carlos Condit: 'Dan Hardy is definitely the most dangerous opponent I've fought so far'

Dan-hardy-scream_medium

Props: ESPN.co.uk

Quoteworthy:

"I haven't got anything against him, he's a great fighter and he seems like a cool guy. But I wanted to fight him because he breaks down real nice for my game, and he's got status in the division. He was the No. 1 contender so it's a big fight for me. We'll see if I'm foolish on October 16. He's definitely the most dangerous opponent I've fought so far, and he's the toughest too. He's definitely one of the top guys I've faced for sure."

Former WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit prepares for his toughest challenge to date as he gets ready to lock horns with former division number one contender Dan Hardy at the upcoming UFC 120 event scheduled for Oct. 16 at the O2 Arena in London, England. "The Outlaw" called Condit "foolish" for requesting this fight and plans on punishing him for it when "The Natural Born Killer" tests his jits across the pond. Anyone think the Brit is going to be in for a surprise? Or is Condit biting off more than he can chew?

Hardy by decision

Condit got his ass kicked by macdonald (who?) until he got a bad stoppage

The Water boy is a future contender in the division

I dunno about this fight, it depends on Hardy’s TDD

Arm.bar.bandit saw me slow dancing with Anderson Silva. I had my hands on his ass.

I have Condit by decision!

I think he is underrated and Hardy is overrated. Anyone know what the lines are for this? I would assume that Hardy is the favorite. If so than I’m definitely going to put some coin on Condit!

Anderson Silva is by far the number one P4P king!!! Even when he is losing a fight he still comes back and finishes for the win! GSP dominates the whole fight and still can't finish! LOL

Yeh Hardy is the favourite

Condit maybe worth a bet

Condit didn't get his ass kicked

He got taken down but if you watch the fight again you will see that Rory couldn’t do much to him on the ground.

Exactly..

And the commentating was as bad as Machida/Rua. They only pointed out what Rory did.

Man

I remember looking at my brother, and saying “I wonder who the UFC wants to win” I thought Joe and Goldy was going to die when they called it. I thought Carlos won the first round, he was doing all of the work from the bottom.

Yeah

It seemed like the commentators really wanted MacDonald to be the next GSP because of his huge upside. He did look great and he has huge upside but Condit just broke him. I don’t think that anything that Hardy will do will break Condit. I like Hardy and Condit but I see Condit taking this fight.

by Lunchbox15 on Sep 6, 2010 7:47 PM EDT up reply actions

MacDonald got destroyed in the 3rd round and it wasn’t a bad stoppage

by Lunchbox15 on Sep 6, 2010 11:49 AM EDT up reply actions

huge test for Condit

Condit is a light WW and could get pushed around pretty easily by Hardy. I would love to see Condit pull out the win but if GSP couldn’t finish him then it is doubtful that Condit will. Hardy probably catches him in the 2nd round and is the first person to KO Condit.

by far the fight im most looking forward to

im pumped for this one, both these fighters bring it, im a big condit fan and believe hes tough enough to win a brutal decision, but If hardy wins i want nate diaz to fight condit, and alves vs hardy, these fights have to happen.

by Blazy j on Sep 6, 2010 11:14 AM EDT up reply actions

same here

Im’ a huge Condit fan and I hope he wins. He will have to execute a flawless gameplan to do so. I would love to see Hardy vs Diaz or Condit vs Diaz. Alves vs Hardy would be pretty awesome too. I’d like to see Kampmann vs Diaz

by mmaaddict on Sep 6, 2010 12:28 PM EDT up reply actions

condit vs nate diaz would be awesome

And for whatever reason that matchup hadn’t crossed my mind…2 more guys that are damn near impossible to finish, thus far, anyway

Lester... You got to open your mind to the truth sometime.

Yes, Rory won the first two rounds. No doubt, cristal clear. But the third round he got mangled. He got the shit kicked out of him and it was a just stoppage. Because even if the fight wasn’t stopped, Rory would have won a fight he shouldn’t have won… Because he got his ass kicked. Even Rory thought it was a correct stoppage, so just be reasonable.

by peseg on Sep 6, 2010 10:19 AM EDT reply actions

I scored it 10-8 condit on the third.

And in all honesty I don’t think Rory did anything in the first 2 rounds but lay on him, but everyone seems to agree on who was winning so no sense in arguing, back to my point. I think it may have been a draw if it went to the judges.

I would say that Carlos's former opponents are more dangerous....Ellenburger, Kampman AND MacDonald would all beat Hardy

Fedor invented a language that incorporates Sambo and Kimuras.

So next time FEDOR is kicking your ass, don't be offended or hurt, he may be just trying to tell you he likes your hat.

by McArthur... on Sep 6, 2010 10:41 AM EDT reply actions

Hardy is dangerous only because of his former No.1 contendr status that was gifted to him. Condit has more diverse striking than Hardy, and should this fight hit the mat Condit will tie him in knots. And finish.

Considering

how badly Condit was getting beaten by Rory MacDonald until that third round, I’d say Hardy has a great chance at putting his down and out.

I tried to fart and a lil shit came out. BOINK!

besides gsp hardy hasnt fought anyone as tough and good as condit

I hope he gets his stupid face smashed, I love how he makes fun of condits face when hardy looks like a complete tool

There's no way Hardy will lose in front of his home crowed.

He managed to just survive GSP with the little ground training he got from Serra and has been working on his ground game since in the US. He will go out guns blazing, KO 2nd round to Hardy. I hope.

by Tobiasward on Sep 6, 2010 11:01 AM EDT reply actions

I like Dans chances in this one

His striking is better than Condits, he gets hit a lot less often and times his punches better. Condit has a massive advantage on the ground but I don’t think his takedowns are good enough to get Dan down and I think that Hardy can match Condits pace as well. Having the crowd on his side and the experience of going 5 rounds with GSP will do Dans confidence wonders as well.

Dan also hits harder than most

As you rightly pointed out, Condit takes way more damage than he should. If Condit allows Hardy to land it will be a hard night for him.

If Dan can keep this on the feet or get up quickly when taken down, he’ll win.

The only thing stopping me from picking a Hardy KO is Dan's lack of a killer instinct and Condits ability to recover

Dan had Swick and Davis hurt badly a few times but failed to capitalise and finish the fight. I expect him to rock Condit but once again to fail to do enough to get the stoppage. He should be able to do enough damage to earn a decision but if Dan doesn’t finish Carlos then he could be in trouble as Condit is always looking to finish both standing and on the ground and has the ability to end a fight at any time.

True DW. Hardy cud of had 2 or 3 more ko's had he any killer instinct.

Condit can take a shot tho. When Jake E rocked’em I thot the fight was over.

Same here

I think Carlos got very lucky in that fight, not only because the ref didn’t stop it but that he didn’t lose that round 10-8. I had the fight scored as a draw.

Dan needs to take advantage if he hurts Carlos but that’s easier said than done. However he may get gifted an earlier stoppage because the fight is in London and the crowd may influence the ref to react quicker than usual.

I feel like

Carlos will break him down in the first 2 and put him away in the 3rd. I like Hardy, but he’s highly overrated, mostly by the UFC, but way overrated. Carlos carries a big advantage on the ground, and he’s more well rounded on the feet. Both guy’s have a lot of heart, so it’s going to be a war, and Carlos excels there.

I like hardy & I think he has the edge standing but condits not guna be as nice as gsp when he gets the take down. It’s guna be a gr8 fight for the fans. 3 round war.

I would really like to see Hardy and Alves go at it

August 28th was an emotional day for me. Two events occurred that brought me to my knees:
1. BJ Penn lost to Frankie Edgar for the second time, proving to me that he is nowhere near the caliber of man that I made him out to be.
2. I found out that the cardio portion of Frankie Edgar’s training camp consisted of Frankie banging my mom while the arm.bar.bandit played the spanish guitar and sang "Eye of the tiger" by Survivor.

On this fight.....

Hard to call. I think both are tough guys. If carlos can’t get dan down, hardy by decision, if he can regularly he should win, fight could go either way to me. For some reason I don’t see a stoppage in this fight.
